Yup Yup. Jimmer's talents just fits in perfectly with this team. Imagine how much space he will create for Amare and Melo down low.
I think his offensive talents to add to Melo, Amare with the spacing, shooting thing.
I like that his handle is good.
But to enhance Melo's, Amare's games, I would be more comfortable with a defensive PG who distributes really well who can also pull up and/or get to rim.
Rondo with a hint of a jumpshot.
That PG is hard to get with the 17th pick. Is there a PG in this years draft that fills that bill?
Morris? Reggie Jackson? Not sure how defensive Morris is. Not sure if Reggie Jackson NBA starter material yet and/or can run a team.
Selby, Shumpert? too early to tell from these guys about what they can do as PGs?
Jenkins? Good size but was mostly a scorer?
A lot of question marks. With Jimmer you know what you are getting. I really think that his play will just make Amare and Melo's life easier in the paint. They won't be quick to double team when Melo or Amare has the ball. This is what Gallo did for Amare. Spread the floor and Amare and Melo will feast. The big thing though is that we would still need to get at least 2 more draft picks and draft PF/C type 6'10"+ players to help with rebounding and defense. A lot of tall players that can defend and rebound erases a lot of problems in the perimeter.
i don't disagree with you about what Jimmer can do for Amare and Melo, but that seems like short term thinking IMHO.
There still will always be a defensive hole at the PG spot, and does that PG help get easier baskets for a guy like Amare.
I would almost risk picking up Selby, Jackson or Shumpert who are definitely scoring PGs but who may be able to keep up defensively and grow into passers.
Def lots of question marks.
