His shooting won't be an issue, but to assume he's a great passer when he hasn't done it in the past is taking a shot in the dark. I like him but he's not what we need most. I'd rather go big with someone like Vuevic, even if he needs some ramping up time. Get a defensive assistant to protect him from Mda and we could be all set.

So he's the next coming of Steve Nash who doesn't pass. That'll be fun. He's a good player but doesn't fill PG or big man slots we need.
Jimmer was "the Man" on his team. In that kind of situation, much like D. Rose, he is the best option most times. His teams won and that's what needs to be remembered. It's not that he couldn't pass, but that often he was the best option to score on his team, so it made sense to call his own number. I don't see him as a guy that lacks court vision or accuracy in delivering the ball. He also has a high BB IQ.

To me the biggest knock on Jimmer is his defense. I doubt that his shooting and passing will be an issue.

I think Jimmer has some NBA skills. My worry is his defense. The east has some explosive young guards and we need someone who is at least a decent defender at PG.

That mofo can shoot! Pick and roll dreams..............

Yup Yup. Jimmer's talents just fits in perfectly with this team. Imagine how much space he will create for Amare and Melo down low.

I think his offensive talents to add to Melo, Amare with the spacing, shooting thing.

I like that his handle is good.

But to enhance Melo's, Amare's games, I would be more comfortable with a defensive PG who distributes really well who can also pull up and/or get to rim.

Rondo with a hint of a jumpshot.

That PG is hard to get with the 17th pick. Is there a PG in this years draft that fills that bill?

Morris? Reggie Jackson? Not sure how defensive Morris is. Not sure if Reggie Jackson NBA starter material yet and/or can run a team.

Selby, Shumpert? too early to tell from these guys about what they can do as PGs?

Jenkins? Good size but was mostly a scorer?

A lot of question marks. With Jimmer you know what you are getting. I really think that his play will just make Amare and Melo's life easier in the paint. They won't be quick to double team when Melo or Amare has the ball. This is what Gallo did for Amare. Spread the floor and Amare and Melo will feast. The big thing though is that we would still need to get at least 2 more draft picks and draft PF/C type 6'10"+ players to help with rebounding and defense. A lot of tall players that can defend and rebound erases a lot of problems in the perimeter.

i don't disagree with you about what Jimmer can do for Amare and Melo, but that seems like short term thinking IMHO.

There still will always be a defensive hole at the PG spot, and does that PG help get easier baskets for a guy like Amare.

I would almost risk picking up Selby, Jackson or Shumpert who are definitely scoring PGs but who may be able to keep up defensively and grow into passers.

Def lots of question marks.

I like both Fields and Douglas, but we can see where the league is going. If management (not us) really thinks that Jimmer can be a special player (in this system) then you do it. This is the same thing with the Melo trade - Many of us (me included) did not like it. But, after seeing Miami shine and Denver get obliterated, it's pretty clear you need a team or 2 or 3 stars and then just a good supporting cast around them. Miami has raised the anti, the rules have changed.

What is hard for all of us (I think) is letting go of player loyalty. The league is becoming more and more a business and a league that players are dictating more and more. We have to try to see over its event horizon and make our moves accordingly.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein

Well I guess the perfect spot for that would be GS and Jackson. Perhaps he might be willing to trade pick 11 and a second for Fields, Douglas and picks 17. What I understand he was looking to move Ellis as well. Maybe the pick trade and Ellis for said parties...you wind up with

Stat
Melo
Ellis/Extra E
Fredette
Jordan/Turiaf/?

Floor should be so spread just move the ball and knock down jump shots...shouldn't even need to pnr anymore
