This is a sad day. Once again, James Dolan ruins anything good and fine about the Knicks. Walsh was a saint, and built us a contender after we had the two worst GMs imaginable and a bumbling idiot of an owner. But bumbling idiot of an owner won in the end. Because he is paranoid delusional about the media. The same reason he ousted Marv Albert and many others. Pathetic.

I hate James Dolan so much it makes me physically ill.

Dude is old and his surgeries haven't exactly been minor procedures.

because if he did want to get out, he would have done so months ago to allow time for the franchise to select new GM; he wouldn't drag it out this long.

Why did Shaq wait so long to call it quits? He could have easily said I'm out right after the season was over but he waited. It takes time to make a decision that will affect your life.

did you really just equate a player's situation to that of a GM?

Donnie started negotiating an extension with the franchise as long as a month ago. Do the math.

Believe what you want, he still not the Knick's GM/President anymore. Its sad that he is gone but we have to move on these things are out of the ordinary fans hand.

a GM like Donnie does not up and call it quits because of health issues that have existed all along after spending months negotiating a next contract. That line of thinking is just stupid.

Sure man whatever want just make shyt up and speculate all you want like you were fly on the wall in the room.

i am trying to tell you how executives like Donnie think and act. His last straw was about control over operatives and separation of decision-making.

Where is there any info that Donnie retired cause of health? Or on-going health?

I hate Isiah but really I think he was just following Dolans orders.

Laydens moves was more akin to "rebuilding" than just planned stagnation post Dice deal.

While the Dice trade was a bomb that blew up in the face of odds, it was his good knee that blew out, and he was a quality guy. After Dice we did nothing out of panic. Very unKnick like.

My point?

What does Checketts-Ernie-Laydog-Isiah-Donnie all have in common besides no championships?

Dolan.

this is a borderline "stop following the team" moment for me. i dropped the Mets a few years ago due to their silly ownership. it's looking like the knicks will be next. i'm not a kid anymore. i can't hold some forced loyalty to the colors and the logo when i know that it's really just some billionaire's drunk son's plaything. i'm not making any decisions yet, but this really hurts. i don't think i can take much more of the dolan era.

Collect offensive players known for weak defense then hire a coach to not coach to their strength but to their weakness. Of course get the defensive players you need but by then the team is offenisvely challenged and we need a strong offensive coach to get it going.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Running from one side of the boat to the other.

What is the answer?

I don't know, but I liked the pre Melo deal and was not scared to go down that road and see where it took us even with the bumps in the road.

The bumps are still gonna be there anyway.

I'm with you evil. The Melo trade was a punch to the gut for me because I knew we wouldn't be able to improve much from there. This is a stab to the gut. Isiah returning? If that happens, just end my membership here please. I'll take down peoples facebook pages to keep in contact and maybe we can get some bball going or a bar night, but my Knick fandom would be over.

This is stunning. The only way I come out of this with any bright side is if Adelman or Jackson are hired to replace D'Antoni. Maybe bring in Shaw for a look. All I hear is good things about him under Jax.

Walsh did such a great job pre-Melo. And I still lobbied for and defended the Melo trade. I guess it was Naive to think Donnie signed off on it. Very upset. I had a lot of faith that Donnie would do a lot of good things this summer. We are still primed to build a legit contender within 1-2 seasons. But this is a kick in the nuts for sure. But, Donnie is rich and might retire now. I feel bad for him...but not THAT bad.

It'll be an interesting summer.

Get Rick Adelman. We dont need to go from one extreme to the other.

I'm going to wait and see what happens over the summer like you are. Maybe Stern will have a talk with Dolan for all the good that will do. Not so much for the Knicks but for the league.

Thomas sexually harasses an employee, throws his daughter under the bus after an overdose of pills, and decimates one of the original franchises in this league. There should be a clause that Stern can invoke that keeps scumbags like Isiah Thomas from ever setting foot in an NBA arena again.

Listen, I wanted Walsh to stay aswell, but its not like we just let Jerry West walk. There are plenty of other qualified, GM's out there ready to take over. So long as 'you know who' doesn't come back, its not the end of thr world.

I dont see the reason Walsh is looked at as being that great here.

The guy traded Crawford and Randolph, sat on deals till they expired, and paid Amare 100 million dollars. I mean really.

Dudes act like he traded Jefferies and Curry for expiring deals before 2010 without giving up anything.

True, but it's more than that. It was widely reported that Walsh was negotiating a contract, and there was even a quote from Donnie saying he and the Knicks were working on it. Walsh doesn't seem to be the type to take these things lightly, so why the sudden change?

They're slapping the "consultant" tag on him after June 30th. Maybe there's something to the health issue.

Dude certainly does not look healthy and smokes.

I hope its nothing serious and he can enjoy some retirement.

Guy is like the same age as Larry Brown. Larry looks great. Donnie looks like Darth Vader with the helmet off.
