I bet you're never gonna be happy w/the Melo trade unless he averages 50 ppg for the rest of his Knicks' career & leads us to multiple championships. Good thing we got Fishlips back, this franchise has hope now.

Everyone seems to care oh so much about the furniture and could care less about the house's foundation

Fishlips is barely the nightstand that holds the jergens & toilet tissue next to my bed.

LMAO!

Decent acquisition although I'm not gonna go gaga over this guy -- I would've MUCH preferred a more traditional big man that can rebound the ball and score it in close but to be fair he's done an OK job so far..Passable..You gotta give him credit to a certain degree I suppose -- he's scrappy, he hustles, he's blended back in as if he never left, goes out of his way to create positive chemistry and he actually does posess some decent court awareness defensively but to me, that hardly makes up for the fact that he's almost completely devoid of any discernible skill otherwise. We beat the Jazz and of course that's the bottom line and will continue to be the bottom line but come on now, we carried this guy last night all the way..As our starting center in over 23 mins he finished with 0 pts on 0-2 (I mean come on, the lefty layup he blew all by himself at the rim was hysterical--welcome home JJ!!!), 6 rebs (hey what d'ya know? That's more than Amar'e had--Amar'e's just a terrible rebounder, it's amazing---I guess STAT feels like he does enough that he doesn't have to rebound the damn ball--yet another game we got outrebounded by an opponent last night btw), 1 stl, 1 blk...Oh yeah, not that JJ guarded these guys everytime down, but Al Jeff went off for 36 (17-26 FG) along with 12 rebs and even Favors played well I thought..The Jazz lost because they didn't get anything from anyone else, missed a ton of open shots (did Jeffries lockdown CJ Miles or did the dude just miss wide open jumpers all night long??) and played terrible defense..They just weren't ready to play that game for whatever reason--might have more to do with Ty Corbin and his preperation than anything Jeffries did...D'Antoni seems to think Jeffries running around trying to check much smaller guys is the way to go with this guy in an attempt to generate defensive mismatches (as if guys like TD, Fields, Melo and co. aren't capable of guarding their own guys---and how'd that work out the other night against CLEV btw? JJ Hickson, Samuels all the way down to Sessions and 50-year-old Anthony Parker----those guys were all on their games..Jeffries had little impact defending any of those guys) but like I said, you give me a traditional big that could anchor the post any day of the week and we're much better off...Just ask our little friend what she thinks about reacquiring this guy LOL :

Tell this young lady--miss Hakeem Olajuwon was not available after the trade deadline and you should listen to what MDA says about Jefferies. We are able to implement a zone D to take pressure off of our guys and its actually effective. Hhe can guard both he 1 and 5 and hes quite disruptive. Understand that DEFENSE is just as important as offense. jefferies has not played all year so he needs a bit of time to get into shape--BUT if we make a run into the playoffs--Jeffries will be playing 35 minutes and will be our anchor piece on the D--accept live it understand it breath it--were lucky we got JJ back for this year.

I would try and get someone like Dalembert this summer. He will not get more than the MLE, if not less. I'd give him a short deal, 2 years, and something like $2-$3 million a season. He would be good here.

Jared Jeffries knew the Knicks system, has active feet, is a hustle player and does the things that assistants coaches chart from behind the bench...

...and is totally useless against teams that brings size and strength like Dallas.

In 36 minutes the Knicks center position contributed 5 rebounds, 2 points and 1 assist. Perhaps Jeffries is still getting adjusted to playing time and Turiaf will never be 100 per cent. Dallas is an elite and deep team.

As our NYK only shot 33 percent, having a hole in the middle is not a good look.

While I am not a JJ fan, he was the only Knick last night with a +...actually a +3 while only scoring 2 pts. That measure isn't an entire evaluation but it does show something.

Also, JJ has not taken even one 3pt shot since coming here. That means MDA has instructed him not to shoot and he is following orders.

people get too caught up in stats. sure stats mean something but not everything. jeffries ALWAYS has a positive effect on the game when he's in, i know his offense is atrocious but it's not like he shoots the ball alot. he is the backbone to our TEAM defense and that is what is so important about him being on the floor. most, if not at all, of the things he does do not show up in the boxscore, so it's hard to quantify his value other than +/- statistics.

nyk4ever - I get the team defense thing, and the whole things that do not show up in the boxscore but...

... what's a brotha gotta do to grab more than just four rebounds per game?

sheesh.

yeah you're right, his rebounding has got to improve - he was doing a good job of it last year before he was traded, so i'm not sure why his rebounding numbers are down? this might be a stretch, but maybe the coaching staff is just telling him to box his man out and keep it that way instead of going for the loose balls and to let melo/amar'e eat those up. he did a pretty good job last night of limiting rebounds.

whatever the case may be, his rebounding certainly has to improve.

the key get of the season is back to the bench where he belongs.

Yeah, but why Amare at the 5 and Williams at the 4? This move just exaserbates our rebounding problems. When in doubt, MDA goes for more offense.

i dunno how much putting a guy that averages 4.3 rebounds in 23.4 minutes a game as a Knick this year really hurts our rebounding too much... i'll take Shawne Williams' 7 ppg over DFV's 0.7 point & deal with the 0.7 rebound or whatever it is less in rebounds a game per minutes played that Williams gives us... anyway i actually think Williams is a better post defender than DFV is.

The Knicks have no centers.

There was a switch where Toney Douglas had Hibbert.

That will not work.
