After Zdump, Marbury, Francis, Larry Hughes, penny and some others, I just liked the yoots we had.
I agree with all of those choices except Randolph. He might have been "Zdump" for other teams but he was on his best behavior in NY, he put up solid numbers, and he wasn't a ball hog, which was his rep. I was surpised myself but I'm more surprised that people have bad memories from his time here. I don't remember hearing any stories of his being a problem. A rare trade by Isiah that panned out.
He was awful when Popcorn man was at the helm. He played great and was a great teammate when D'Antoni came in.
He put up great numbers both years he was here. If you didn't like the way he was utilized blame the coach not the player.
What the heck are you talking about? I said he was horrible when Isiah was coaching but he played great when MDA came in. Numbers are great. They are nice and shiny. I look at the basketball player. Does he help the team. Does he make his teammates better. The first year...nope. The 2nd year, definately. If he wasn't traded I think he would have been an all-star that year.
What exactly is your criticism of what he did wrong his first year? I might be able to give you a better answer because I remember a guy playing well both years, he was more effective in his second year but that doesn't mean he was playing crappy. Look what he had around him.
Just going by memory so I could be wrong. I remember him to be very selfish in the first year. He was trying to get his numbers and that one sequence when he was trying to dribble on the top of the key lost it then recovered then shot a 3pointer from Washington Heights was just bad. Maybe it is because the combination of him and Dinglebury just nauseated me to death. Actually, come to think about it, it was the whole team that was really bad and he did not help. The following year, I was ecstatic. He did everything right. Him and Jamal was a great combo. They really played off each other to perfection.
