I seriously doubt that Jeffries will get to shoot for this team, except maybe if the clock is expring.

So if I understand correctly, Jeffries will never shoot the ball unless the clock is expiring. Is that what you're saying? So we'll be playing 4 on 5 when he's on the floor, is that right?

same as when Turiaf is on the floor.

Both guys are stop-gaps until the organization finds a longer term solution. You are getting your panties tied into a bunch over a 30 game signing meant to help stop-gap defense, bigs, and C/PF position.

Actually, we'll be playing 2/3 on 5 on offense.

Jared had a more positive impact than negative. He had actually improved his 3pt shot, which I give him credit for. However, it's his team defense that really makes him valuable. The way we play D, it's imperative to stop penetration. you stop penetration, you don't need shotblocking. I know it's lost on a lot of people, but Mike's defensive philosophy is to force teams to take contested and poor jumps shots. He wants teams taking low % shots. Jared helped us in that regard, more than any other player. His length and quickness forced teams to stay on the perimeter longer. This is a very solid move and a predictable one. Mike never wanted to lose Jared. He fits perfectly into his scheme on D. Mike wants his D to move and stay in front of offensive players, not foul but force perimeter jumpers with a hand in their face. This is how you win the FG% battle. Jared takes charges which is actually better than a blocked shot. We get a TO and a foul.

Another thing, Jared will not be able to stop a guy like Howard, but he can play the ball denial game better than slower bigs. No matter who we get it won't make us the equal of LA or Orl inside. Jared will help. This is a good move.

Hell.

We do need some more depth @ the 5 and JJ is as much of a temporary fix as we can get right now.

As long as Jared is committed to playing D and passing instead of shooting, then he'll do okay for the stretch run.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Apparently, you hate him more than anyone in the NBA, but not more than me.

I hate him megale........ Wanted him and his 7 million out of here enough to justify
getting T-Mac here

Think he hurt us as much as Dudu did last 2 years.

But for free?

Yeah just the trust has in him is worth it.

Coach wont play a D-League guy even if Walsh got the best BIG out there

He will give Fishlips minutes no doubt...... And if he can grab 8 to 10 rebounds
and get 6 hard fouls I say ok bring the bum on and lets get this thing going!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

Bingo.

(except, I hate Al Harrington more than Jeffries.)

Al is a distant 3rd for me........ Dudu and Fishlips wrap up top 2 spots!!

Jeffries is a career 4 RPG player. How is he suddenly going to get 8-10?

How come JJ2 has a .43 FG% (attrocious for someone 6'11") vs. Turiaf's .525?
And Turiaf can actually pass the ball. Jeffries cannot.
And by the way, I wear boxers.

Application for the "Don't Sign Jeffries" Club. Please complete the following form:

We have 3 excellent offensive players, and a number of good offensive role players. We will score.

We are a poor defensive team. In particular, we need defensive bigs.

The trade deadline has passed, so we can only address this need with waived, uninjured players.

Jeffries is available, cheap, and uninjured.

But we shouldn’t sign him because _______________________ is available.

Jared Jeffries buyout with Houston is official, sources tell The News. Will be free agent on Tues. Knicks lead with Mia, NO & OKC involved

If Jeffries is so horrible, why are Miami, New Orleans and Oklahoma - all playoffs teams - looking to sign him?

And I wish them luck.

Too bad they're out of luck! He's coming HOOOOOOME, baby!

I can't get enough of this

LMAO...i can't either,

I do not want anything to do with JJ, he defended Rondo well a couple of times, and MDA fell in love with him, had him guarding all the top pgs cause duhon and nate were horrible....and just like that blow by in the clip, it was regular formality with him on d

I quite agree. Which is part of the reason I have no problem with bringing back Jeffries.

Because the claims of his defensive prowess are greatly exaggerated, and he's actually a negative on offense. Anyway, go ahead, lobby for him. You deserve what you'll get. Hope you enjoy watching him stink up the joint.

He averges 20 min a game as well...... More minutes more rebounds is my thought.
Oh that will be only thing he will NEED to do.

I like the move...loved watching the frustration build in opposing PG's as he harassed them....hated his contract. Taking a charge is a turnover and is as good as a steal or a blocked shot or a stop in my book....and he will cost nothing. While not a building block...a nice piece on a good team. Our depth meter just went up one notch

You are looking at it the wrong way my friend

If I had my choice would i pick Fishlips? Hell to the no!

I would of took Kostas Koufas instead of Brewer and gave him the minutes first.

But we need a guy who can play C and allow Turiaf to come off the bench and spell
Amare and Melo a bit.

And Fishlips can fill that role till we find someone better.

We have No Choice other then D League and we all know wont play any of those guys.

JJ sadly but truly makes us better.

greatly exagerated how? Knicks were easily the best when he was on the floor last year. The team's +/- numbers dont lie and its a solid sampling. Everyone was better on defense with him and now with star players on offense his shortcomings arent as pronounced. Like him or hate him JJ made the Knicks better last year and thats why the coaching staff wants him back.

http://www.82games.com/0910/0910NYK.HTM

VMart is just perplexed because he clings to the notion that MDA doesnt care about defense and JJ is going to get playing time and help the Knicks defense.
