Remember the Knicks/Nuggets brawl a few years back?
Jeffries first year on the team, just came back from injury - sees his teammate get sucker punched and wrestles his way down the court, all while being restrained to chase down Melo.

JJ is NOT the answer at center and he isn't going to bully anyone in the paint, but that is the attitude/toughness I want to see from guys on this team. He's a glue guy, a decent roleplayer, and as crzy said, he's FREE. For 27 games, why the hell not?

Even if, as c2d noted, he's not a center (though he would get time at center!), he would be a good 10-15 defensively a night.

Just because the only area he is mildly competent in is defense it doesn't mean we should persue him. It's not look we don't know his game.

Jeffries can play better than some dudes at the end of our bench.

What, you'd rather keep Roger Mason? Rautins? Balkman? Carter?

He's a capable 6'11" guy who knows our system. And he's free. What possible problem is there with signing him.

IMHO Jefferies isn't worth what he brings, a few charges or an occassional block. The options I would consider first is Barron then d league. Mason is better at what he does than Jefferies is at what he does.

Bring back dee-fense

guys he is def coming back!!! I dont mind it as long as he can hit a layup and block some shots...who knows he drew a ton of charges and he can fill some minutes at the c and pf...as of now we need to catch lightning in a bottle.

Sources tell Alan Hahn that after completion of his buyout with the Rockets, Jared Jeffries will sign with the Knicks.

Jeffries was traded from New York to Houston on trade deadline day last year to help clear salary-cap room ahead of New York's summer free-agent pursuits.

The Knicks are now in need of frontcourt depth after dealing for Carmelo Anthony

At this point we need bodies and it helps that he knows what we do and was good on D. He should mix in pretty good with this group. Our Defense declined significantly once he was traded so I would say overall he had a good impact. Hope he's been working on his layups and Jumpers while he wasn't playing This is clearly a choice.

I am actually all for this. Personally my dream signings are all 3 of Murphy, Jared, Baron OR Pryzbilla (cut Carter, Mason, Brewer). Brewer vs Balkman is a numbers game as both are similar skill sets, but Balk isn't a FA and I would prefer no dead money on the cap next year.

We don't need an offensive C. There were better options then these guys but we just didn't have the pieces after the Melo deal. The key is to temper expectations. JJ is what he is.

I said before, Mike doesn't have positions for players, he has roles and that is what dictates his lineup.

Turiaf should still be playing ahead of JJ in the depth charts.

He won't be. Jeffries will start. He is probably a little better all around player than Turiaf.
