If the deal is Galo, Fields, Curry, AR and Galo holds it up I will be dissapointed. I'm fine with them tryin to sub Wilson for Galo until the deadline.

It's all about the $$$$$$$$$ for Carmelo.

This will get done.

If that is true--then why didn't he sign that extension before the season started and not risk catastrophic injury?

if i were the Nets, i would do the deal without the extension and then try to pitch it to Melo over the rest of the season.

it may be their only hope at actually getting him. he'll never agree to go there while the spectre of a Knicks deal exists.

He wanted to go to NY. Nobody is denying that.

But with the deadline coming up he is definitely getting antsy and will eventually take the money over his preferred team. He does not want to lose the $65 million.

That would be horrible for the Nets. Imagine giving up Favors and all those picks and he doesn't extend.

I'll say it again. If this goes down as rumored and I don't think it will Melo will not be in the playoffs this year. That's a pretty big reason against since if he resigns with Denver or goes to the Knicks looks like they would be in the playoffs.

Yeah, all he has to do is play out a 28 game string and then he's done. Free and clear. He can sign with the Knicks. What leverage would NJ have in that scenario?

Melo will NOT sign with NJ. This thing is almost over now. This is just a formality. Melo and his agent will make sure they end up in NYC.

He'll never agre to sign there when he considers:

a.) No cap flexibility going forward
b.) Only other good player who isn't old would be Lopez, who can't rebound, and they would be giving away most of their picks.
c.) BKNY isn't The Garden (i.e., no legacy there, no title there)
d.) He'd have to play next season in the forsaken place called Newark, NJ

That last one on its own should be enough to make him balk.

Just saw Anthony's All-Star press conference. Nothing's changed.

He wants to go to the Knicks because they already have a star in Amare. If he were to go to another team, it seems like it would have to be another one with a legit star. New Jersey is not that team.

He said he was going to go meet with Billy Hunter after the press conference to get a read on the CBA talks and how much money he's risking if he goes to free agency.

He said the extension with Denver is "an option" and he said that signing with NJ is "an option." He doesn't sound like those are options that he wants to be forced into.
