It's disturbing that that was our first offer. We shouldn't have been giving up that much in our final offer.

It is a decent offer. Not great but OK. It means Denver will listen and lets other teams know that we are serious. No one will offer more to just rent Melo for the rest of this season. Denver will try to get us to take one of their "bad" contracts, but we don't have to.

Way too low - A contending team would give up more than this to just rent Melo for the rest of this season.

Contending teams don't seem interested in him.

They would hang up on us if we made that offer to them. Donnie would not even insult them by putting up such an offer.

Yeah, I was just stating the value I give on adding Carmelo. Gallo is a decent player but is the most I'd give up. If they'd rather lose him for nothing, fine.

as i just watched Durant stick a dagger into the heart of this knicks team i was thinking maybe it's not a coincidence then that Chandler's been a head-case and slumping. And that Fields has been a no-factor as well.

Have not really seen the drop-off in Landry's game- and his success frequently reflects how others are playing.

I've been stunned by Chandler's demise, and I'm one who thinks that the outside issues may be weighing on the people whose names are being thrown around.

Fields is more of a natural SF than he is a SG, no? would seem to make sense if the Nuggets are going to trade Melo they'll want a young cheap talent w/upside to take his place in the rotation

I don't think fields is a SG(2 Guard) you want to say wing player ok but not prototypical 2 man.

i agree, he's more of a swingman... not a natural 2G.

Fields played PF at Stanford, so maybe he's best suited at SF. I do think he's fine at SF though

For most of the year, our starting lineup has been a PG, PF, and three SFs. We need a more balanced lineup.

Something fishy is definitely going on with Chandler- not only his play the last 2 games, but also the firing of his agent just as the Nets deal falls through. I'm not sure whether he's heard the Knicks are trying to trade him, or whether he's got personal problems or what, but his fall from grace has been spectacular. The timing of it all points to it being Melo related, but I could be wrong. To be honest most of the team are also playing like c**p at the moment.

If Denver does not accept our offer within the next 2 weeks, Walsh should tell them we are pulling out of the hunt and will take our chances that Anthony will sign as a FA. F--k Denver. I have never seen a team drag its feet as much as Denver had with this Anthony thing. Chandler, Fields, and a 1st round pick, plus $3 mill is a solid offer today and will be a solid offer a month from now at the trade deadline. I would not up it one bit and dare Denver to risk losing Anthony for nothing.

I don't even know if we should go two weeks. Walsh ought to provide denver with whatever our final offer is, and if they can find a way to make it work to their liking, great, otherwise tell them to call him when their ready, either at the deadline, or during the summer when we might send them a second round draft pick for Carmelo.

if it goes past the deadline & still no deal we have no reason to remain in contact w/the Nuggets' front office... at that point he's either ours via free agency or Denver slaps some kind of franchise player tag on him if the new CBA allows for it... DW is playing it cool until the deadline which is exactly what he should do... can't keep going back with other kinds of offers to DEN if the rumors are true & they already turned down an offer of Wilson, Fields & a pick for Melo then there's really not much more chance they'd accept anything else from the Knicks & certainly not the kind of deal that DW will want to make in any case... Kroenke seems to have his heart set on ridding himself of every bad contract on their books along with obtaining a boatload of assets in any Melo trade, which simply isn't realistic in their current situation... & if Kroenke is as dead set against dealing w/the Knicks as he seems he is, then we might have no other choice but to hope Melo signs with us this summer... u just can't reason with unreasonable people.

My guess is that if the Melo thing carries right up until the trade deadline, watch for Chandler to be traded IF, and it's a big if, the right deal can go down, i.e. something that will help the Knicks next year AFTER they get Melo. Melo stays in Denver for the remainder of 2011 but opts out, so the Knicks go into plan B of acquiring Melo through FA, which means Chandler is eligible at the right price.

Chandler for Mayo?
Chandler to Dallas for Rodrigue Beaubois, pick?
