My girl just made a good point when the Mikhail quote popped up during the game. She said Denver probably doesnt want to trade him at all anyway.

Denver could be fake hustling a Carmelo trade to appease Melo until the deadline. Then Denver can say heh we tried guess you are stuck here until June.

That could explain why Denver keeps asking for pie in the sky.

i don't buy that for a second... why would DEN go through all this trouble if they had no intention ever of trading him to begin with? so they can watch Melo walk for nothing over the summer?

Denver is likely not going to lose Carmelo for nothing. Worse case scenario they will get a massive trade exception.

Even with a new CBA there will likely be provisions that allow the team with bird rights to pay more money. So if Carmelo wants to max money available Denver will probably get a pick or 2.

I think some aren't looking at the financials here though. Denver has 83 million in salary this year and they are way over the tax threshold. No Carmelo means less revenue at the games and no playoffs. Whoever they get in a trade isn't taking that Denver team anywhere but the lottery in the west for the next 3-4 yrs. I dont see Denver being in a rush to head in mediocrity and obscurity.

i think that's why DEN is looking to dump Harrington, because they realize once Melo leaves they're gonna be hurting for revenue for a few years at least... they will be officially rebuilding once that happens.

I find it amusing that so many in this forum are against trading for Melo because he's not that good yet if Denver doesn't have him their in rebuilding mode

Prokhorov just took the trade underground. Thing was way too public by Nyets.

Y'all can speculate on it all you want. We don't have all the facts. some of you are talking about things from "sources" and elevate to "fact".

Its business, Nuggs know Melo is between a rock and a hard place and somehow in the process showed his hand.

If you want to **** the Nuggs, its gonna cost you.

If your donnie what do you do? Wait until Denver comes to you. They have to create a market to get more assets. Thats why Chicago is in the mix. They are trying again. Here is a question, does Chicago really exist with D. rose and Melo? D. Rose really want another ball hawk?

Nalod got questions but few answers. Mans got to know his limitations.

Dude it's all speculation. We'd have nothing to talk about otherwise.

Now we just have to be careful that no other team steps in to somehow do a deal. The Nuggets may wait til the trade deadline or even after the playoffs? Donnie is now on the hotseat to see if he can pull something off. But the Nuggets aren't going to necessarily bite on the first offer.

How does one come to that definitive conclusion?

Could it be that Denver kept trying to modify the deal as it has been reported?

Carmelo has been quoted as saying Masai(Denver GM) knows where Melo wants to go. So you think Masai has nothing better to do then create fantasy 3 team trades with NJ? Come on now.

Why not create fantasy trades with Houston, Charlotte, and whoever else wants Melo.

Deductive reasoning.

And your girlfriend's answer is right on the money. I think that answer's your question.
NJ did want Melo and they had to keep trying. It probably was orders from Prok. However it got out of hand and he cut it off. Wise move. Melo never said absolutely "No!" but he seemed to be the one stumbling block that was holding up the deal.

Eees looking real good, my friends. Reeeaaaalll good.

Melo to NY for Curry, Gallo, 2 first rounders (2011 & 2013 - after AR trade for a 2012) and $3mil.

Then we do Buke, Mason, and the Moz for Sammy D.

Last we do Chandler for Rubio. If Minny won't bite, we just re-up Chandler using Bird Rights.

Booya!

how is assuming they're taking this underground not speculation on your part? the owner just held a press conference saying he instructed his staff to pull out of the Melo negotiations & cancelled their supposed meeting... if u want to take him at his word, then it seems apparent that the trade is dead at this point... i'd like to know your "sources" that tell u this deal has gone underground.

Cuz if Denver calls back with a deal it would be stupid to reject it. Logic.

This deal got way too public and I do believe its dead. But Denver got smacked down and told.

How do I know? I don't! Im said over and Over I don't know ****. Im a business man and understand negotiation. I thought it was all out of control and way too much talk.

"Prokhorov and King both insisted the end of these talks were final, and that this wasn’t a negotiating ploy to lessen the Nuggets’ asking price. Clearly, Denver overplayed its hand with the Nets and now must do something it never wanted: Deal directly with the New York Knicks on a trade for Anthony and likely end up with a package inferior to what the Nets were willing to give."

It appears Prokhorov wanted to spare himself and the franchise of being rejected by Anthony after a meeting in Denver on Thursday, because it was clear that the Nets had come to believe Anthony would never agree to signing a three-year, $65 million extension with them.

People are deluding themselves if they believe A) the Nets are out of it and B) this means the Nuggets just have to give us Melo.

Just because the Nets are out of the picture doesn't mean we should low-ball Denver. Our standing offer of 1 of Gallo, Chandler, or Fields likely hasn't changed. The only thing that's changed is Denver's willingness to accept our package now.
