Rafer Alston sucks.

Rafer Alston sucks.

So does pretty much every reserve PG. At least with Alston you don't have to give up any assets and he's got experience running an offense.

TD has always been an uncomfortable fit in this offense. That doesn't mean he's not a talented player.

If Felton were ever injured a move would be forced on us because TD is not the pure point this system requires. TD/Walker/AR for Maynor/Mullens is the move to give us depth in the right places for a real run through the beasts of the NBA we're about to face and will hopefully face in the playoffs.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

even if ny had a backup like rafer. knicks would be dead in the water if felton got injured.

amar'e had a real quiet game most of the minny game. it was felton who kept the knicks engine revving.

I like having Toney as a backup PG strictly for the D. I think for certain situations we need a backup PG who's more of an offensive playmaker and I think someone like Alston is fine for that. Hopefully over the course of the year Douglas just gets better at the PG position.

Pay attention to how often the shot clock runs down and we jack up a desperation shot when Toney is on the court. We need a vet that can run the offense. We have all year to find one(unless Felton goes down for a long period) so there is no rush. In the meantime Toney has a chance to learn.

if at the trade deadline nothing else big happens, I can see Telfair being added to the Knicks.

WE are looking for someone to run the offense. Not an uber talent. Not a future talent(unless one falls in our lap). Someone who knows how to share the ball, doesn't look for their own shot and can make an occassional pass off the pick and roll. TD will continue to get minutes if he scores but he is killing us when his main responsibility is to run the offense for long periods of time. The goal is to get a Duhon/Williams type that can run the offense for 5-15 minutes(depending on game) and lead the second unit while TD is learning.

Contract withstanding, Jarrett Jack has always been a favorite of mine and he is a quality backup/spot starter.

Antonio Daniels has been quality for a while as a backup PG. We don't need anymore young guys to develop. If Felton goes down you need an experienced steady hand to run the offense. Guys like Maynor, Mills, Armon Johnson you might as well just have Douglas be the main backup.

IMO why bring in another guy that has to learn to replace a guy we have that has to learn?

Isn't it telling that TD is bringing the ball up like Duhon did ...slowly. Some time soon the light should go on for him. His game definitely shows progress. I've noted that though Felton is often on the floor with him TD is usually guarding the point this means Felton doesn't wear out as much for those minutes?
