how about this. We have no problem with heated discussion. Don't think we have ever banned someone for that. Adult heated discussion is a very good thing. Not too many under 21 years old here (my guess) so there is some expectation.

We do ban posters who would deteriorate the overall effectiveness of the whole site. I gotta say, over a 10 year timeframe, we have about a list of maybe 10 users who have been banned (some of them have come back multiple times).

Here is an example of deteriorate: Playa constantly posting wildly off topic replies or new threads within the Knicks discussion area. We had publicly asked him and emailed him personally to just keep it to the OT forum but that didn't work out. We gave him multiple tries and that didn't work out. He was banned.

I think it goes without saying that we would like to grow the site and facilitate discussion at the same time; every once in a blue moon some users do not fit within that. I would have to say that Andrew and my time in moderating is shorter than it may once have been, for better or worse.

first of all i'm not losing any sleep over what some dummy says on the internet... that wasn't the point of this entire episode... some dummy made a dummy comment & people tried to explain to him why he made a poor choice of words... then that dummy proceeded to get himself banned from this site because he was too dumb to even realize his mistake & proceeded to throw further insults at people for trying to correct him... knowing something about Cosmic or not ain't got nothing at all to do with this issue here... if you or anyone else made those comments i'd be saying the same sheit... now you have people pining for his return because they miss his video clippings & you're telling me i shouldn't get worked up & other people think those types of comments should be allowed to be posted on this forum... are you kidding me?

believe me if this were real life those types of comments would get you smacked the fug up or worse... but this is an internet forum where ignorant cowards sit behind their keyboards & feel they have free reign to post ignorant sheit & get away with it... there are tons of internet forums out there that this type of stuff is allowed to proliferate... i joined up with this forum because it was for the most part a respectful community of chill people who made for good discussion on the team we all love... i didn't join up here to have to read dumbasses make rude comments that offend my race & ethnicity, & i think it's fair to say a good portion of the other posters that post here are in the same boat... if y'all want Cosmic to come back, be my guest & bring him back... i'll go find another forum to post on.

let me add this: If Andrew or I go back and forth with a poster, we try to make it clear to all at the end if we have banned someone. We obviously dont feel the need to make general announcements about it, but if you happen to cross the thread where we do get into it, it's an obvious conclusion.

Sometimes it is very hard to distinguish between Martin the Knicks fan going back and forth with someone and Martin the moderator. But we try to take a different tone and tact; perhaps not succeeding all the time, what the hell we all make mistakes. I like to call someone idiot every once in a while too. Especially Bip.

Can't make everyone happy all the time, but as long you know the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing you should be all set.
