Hmm, having watched Memphis last night... I really wasn't very impressed by Gasol. He got outplayed by Biedrins down the stretch, he didn't rebound worth a lick in a fast-paced game and he didn't score much either.

I came away still thinking that Rudy Gay would have been a great pick up last summer. I was arguing for this until Memphis re-signed him this summer. I think Gay is actually not too far below Melo right now. And he's a better outside shooter than Melo, which suits this team more. Gay is averaging 26.4ppg with about 7rpg right now. 55% from the field and 53% from 3pt range.

I would have been happy having the following lineup, with Eddy Curry's deal still in our pocket (basically, we couldn't have made the DLEE/GSW trade):

Felton
Fields
Gay
Amare
Mozgov

bench: Toney, Walker, Gallo, Wilson, Barron

Please go lookup how much teams are investing in centers around the league. $12M for 2 centers is dirt cheap.

Which is why they wanna cut salaries and get rid of( cough!!eddy curry) gauranteed contracts, most of those centers are grossly over paid and you know it.

i think you just tried to compare Eddy Curry against bigs who actually play and care.

2 of the best teams in the league are the Lakers and Boston for which every team is going to have to go through.

If you add up the cost of their bigs that are 6'10" and greater you prob will be shocked.

Sometimes you'll lose track of things when watching a game on tv/live. Or least I do.

Gasol didn't score much because he only shot 5 times...but he hit 3-5. That's what Gasol do. He is 55.5 % from the field for his career.

But a line of 10 pts, 8 boards 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block is pretty damn solid in 31 minutes.

And he stays on the floor and doesn't get into foul trouble. I say he's one of the top 10-15 centers in the league right now. Real centers btw not 6'11" guys who float out on the perimeter.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

yeah, but I didn't see Gasol do ANYTHING this team desperately needs the way I saw Rudy Gay do what this team desperately needs.

we need a guy like Rudy or Melo. I just wish we'd tried harder to get Rudy as a free agent last summer rather than give up the farm for Melo.

He gets boards and points without being the focus of the offense and defends. Every team needs guys like that, all the more so when they are long and athletic. I haven't read a convincing argument for why he wouldn't be a good fit in NY.

However, as I've stated before, while I'd really like to see him NY I don't see it happening.

Marc Gasol...I want to see him in orange and blue.
