I think RF is the most realistic option.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Wouldn't mind seeing Parker and Felton running the point with the minutes distributed evenly. I have no idea what it would take to do that without hurting the team in another area unless it was done in free agency.

Sorry guys I too want to wait for Melo but if we have to pull the trigger on a deal for him we must do it. Like Sergio said we were suppose to be an elite team by the time 2010-2011 season started. We can't continue to be patient and wait for next year and again wait another year. In 3-4 years anything can happen Amare can be done, Gallo may not be as good as we think or same with AR. Its time to get proven being Knicks fans we have become overly patient. I like the idea of rebuilding but rebuilding passed me by in 2006. Walsh has to make Melo into reality for the Knicks there is no beating around the bush. I truely have faith in Walsh to make it happen.

huh? this year?

That is right this year. We didn't clear cap space to hang around the 7-8 seed in the playoffs. All chip were in Walsh wanted two superstars which was plan A. Then he turned to plan B try to make lemonade out of lemons.

FINALLY someone else admits this!!!

People here still refuse to admit that Donnie Walsh would have signed Joe Johnson to the MAX over trading for Anthony Randolph. The goal was to get 2 Stars. That's why we cleared cap for 2 Stars. Not to acquire 20 year old prospects and hope they turn into Stars in 3-4 years - which they won't because they don't have Star talent!

How do you know that Donnie would have given Joe Johnson the max?

They met with Joe Johnson July 1st and did offer the MAX. Johnson decided to take the extra money and stay in Atlanta.

They met with Joe Johnson. That's it.

And we offered a MAX contract.

prove it

Don't have time right now to look for old articles. But it was very well known Joe Johnson was the first FA we met in Los Angeles and was very high on the list. It's also known we wanted to go into the meeting with LeCon with Johnson already part of the team.

While waiting for their opportunity to sell LeBron James on their team, the New York Knicks will be busy courting other stars that could potentially play with him at Madison Square Garden.

Their first such meeting will be with Joe Johnson, the Atlanta Hawks' All-Star guard, according to league sources.

Johnson

When the clock strikes midnight ET in New York on July 1, Knicks team president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni will be in Los Angeles meeting with Johnson, who will hold all of his meetings with clubs on the West Coast. The Knicks' brass will fly to northeast Ohio to woo James at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Speak of the devil.

From ESPN:

Tony Parker is entering the final season of his contract and told a French website last week that he thought this year was the last real chance to win the NBA championship due to the ages and health of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.

There have been plenty of rumors that he wants to end up with the Knicks at some point, but Parker has dismissed all the scuttlebutt about his future.

Most NBA pundits think the Spurs can compete this season, but if they don't Buck Harvey of San Antonio Express-News writes that the Spurs will look trade Parker so they can get something for him. They could also work a sign-and-trade next summer if Parker is determined to leave.

---------------

If Spurs are having a good season, they will keep Parker thru the season, then we can probably get him in a sign-and-trade for Felton and a second rounder or something. If they are playing poorly we would make a good package at the deadline of Felton, Chandler, and Azubuike, or some other players that fit in a deal under the cap. Either way, i think this is Parker's last stand in SA and New York is his most likely next destination.
