Damn, son. What you been smokin'? Well, at least he's the best offensive 4 in the league.

We have a pretty nice looking team--why cant we be patient--what is the rush--I see none.
Word. Patience is key here. If Melo insists on doing it the S&T route, we should NOT make an unacceptable offer (i.e., an offer that includes more than one of Gallo, Chandler, AR is unacceptable). That means either Denver accepts this offer or gets nothing from us:
$3mil cash, Curry's expiring, Gallo, Fields, 2014 pick (protected only for the top 3).
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
If they balk, we tell Melo to sign someplace else or accept our MAX MONEY in the summer and play with a very stout team that retains cap flexibility, can add additional talent (say Rubio, or Nash, or possibly CP3), and has Amare in his prime.
Walsh needs to man up right now, even if it means we whiff on Melo. Truth is, he's not a well-rounder player, mainly a high-volume, clutch scorer and amazing finisher. Gallo has potentially higher upside than Melo, it's not like he's a scrub.
A little birdie told me Melo wants that legacy thing, and he wants it in NYC, at the Garden. Spike gwine make a flic about it down the road. Melo will become a historic figure because of his association with a phenomenal team, not because he is so elite.
