IOW he asked Maverick to handle it for him.

Actually there were reports people in his camp were advising him not to do this.

Well his camp and childhood friends rely on him as a meal ticket. Sometimes you need a professional to be like "this is retarded and I will not let my name be attached to something so vain and childish." That tends to get the point across better than saying "well I don't know King" in the middle of a game of Madden

LOL

Even CP3 was reported and telling him he should give Cavs/Scott a chance. Supposedly there were a lot of cars at his house last night and many were divided over what he was going to do.

Wojo wrote 3 Flaming articles on Bron and called him out for what he is and Bill Simmons put him on blast before his decision too. I can't wait for the next Wojo article. Actually let me go check Yahoo right now.

wow, simply wow. Now that's an owner who cares; who you can take pride in.

as for his vow....I can see him and other GM's actually conspiring together to help the Cavs.

Stern can't possibly be pleased by this. Seeing (arguably 2 of the top players in the league behind Kobe) sign with one team when there are 28 other teams out there....many starved for talent or seeking to become relevant.

This is not the NBA I grew to love.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Good for him.

I feel bad for us, but really bad for Cleveland, Akron, and Ohio in general. I have lived in smaller cities and towns, and I understand that picking up someone like Princess J, who is local, a great athlete, and just happens to be there when you win the draft lottery, is a rare occurrence.

Princess LeBron has committed legacy suicide. He is not only a coward who chose the easy path, but he is also a hypocrite who threw his hometown into the gutter after building up an image that was created to make you think he was above such things.

How can he ever go back to his home now?

He gave 7 hard years--what about your freedom of choice? He's been in Ohio for 25 years. I think he's earned the right to do what he wants--he still is a human being.

I agree with Briggs on this. LeBron did what was best for him after trying very hard to bring a championship to Cleveland. What was that franchise like before LeBron came? What will it be like, in spite of Gilbert's chest pounding, now that he's gone. The Cavs were lucky to have a very special player. Handle it like a man, Gilbert - not lucky an adolescent who's trying to show how tough he is.

The show was over the top and a bad idea from a player who's a little too full of himself, but, like all of us, he has a right to play and live where he wants.

Letters like that get written but you wait to send it. Gilbert and clev created their god and are pArt to blame. It's lame how lebron handled it but lame even more the years of hero worship and pinning all hopes on one person.

Gilbert said he would never do a sign and trade to facilitate a return in value.

Maybe this rookie owner himself was not all he could be either.

So much about "deserving better" is udder crap. This clev loser mentality is getting old.

Lebron should have done this better but Gilbert took the low populist mob mental route with no check for anger. His franchise took a hit but he willingly played the game until he lost leverage. Or shall we say " his grip".

I agree with that entirely. That being said, LeBron quit on his team in the playoffs, then said Cavs were the frontrunners, then had this pathetic courting process which ended with a 1 hour TV special in an F'ing Boys and Girls Club with Jim Gray serving him softballs. You want to leave Cleveland, I have no problem with that, this is America and he has that right. He should've handled it better, told the Cavs before announcing it on national TV, and, um, NOT ANNOUNCED IT ON AN F-ING LIVE TV SPECIAL. LOL. THis isn't the WWE, its the NBA. Nobody is bigger than the game. Win a ring and then maybe you can get a one hour TV special.

Gilbert ETHERED LEBRON and I think it was well deserved by Queen James. Congrats on completely F-ing your brand and your legacy. Enjoy the weather punk.

Quite frankly the letter was poorly written and ill conceived. The "Decision" was handled even worse. It was an emotional response to an action that was not well thought out and ultimately could have negative implication for a young man, who I believe is basically sincere and decent (physically talented but not well schooled ill advised -if the advice was to handle it in the was it was handled). Lebron handled it like a publicity seeking child but Gilbert's letter was overly emotional.

Briggs... here is why what you said doesnt apply. If Lebron just came out and said I'm going to Miami to play with my buddies down in South Beach then fine. But he made every NBA team wait a week. He made the whole NBA about him. He had a freakin ESPN special. This was the uber display of narcissism. He rubbed the Cavs nose in it and he deserves this kind of treatment

Yeah. This was an utter spectacle. I wonder what the ratings for the Lebron hour were. I bet the first half hour was off the charts and the second half hour tanked.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

While I agree Lebron didn't handle the situation correctly, I also think the criticism is a little harsh. He played in a crappy town for a long time, gave them lots to cheer about, and the front office proved they couldnt build a supporting cast to help win a championship.

In the off season they lost their GM and coach - how can he go back to turmoil when Kobe is winning rings? While I think he should not have had a special and this entire thing was nuts - I don't blame him for leaving Cleveland. Just ask Noah about that place - it sucks.

Miami is a pretty cool place and he is going to play with 2 other stars and for a GM that knows how to win. I don't like Lebron but I can see the logic to why he chose Miami.

Kobe went through the turmoil after Shaq left, stuck with it and won his ring.

I have a feeling there are a bunch of behind the scenes things that went on that we don't know about. I wonder if Lebron asked for Mike Brown to be fired.

the Cavs catered to his every whim... they gave him & his boys full reign over the place... & this is how he repays them... i can't blame Gilbert for spitting this kinda venom... Lebron deserved every bit of it for what he pulled... even if he came to NY i could see his reason for being pissed off.
