He'll have no friends if he takes back Anderson f'n Varejao for Chris Bosh. What is the point of that trade? Sideshow Bob is trash and makes $8, $9 million a season for the next 4 years. He does nothing to help your team in terms of wins and you get no salary relief.

If Colangelo takes him back in such a trade then he goes up there with Isiah Thomas-level as a GM.

i think any deal made with cleveland would include dumping hedo's deal. and like i said before, any pieces taken back from cleveland will quickly be moved for someone else. the guy is going to make a ton of moves this summer.

but i think he's holding out for guys like noah and those ny picks/aaron brooks from houston...

toronto doesn't have much leverage once bosh decides where he wants to go. they'll have to take what they can get.

if you truly believe that - bosh would've committed somewhere already.

bosh has been adamant about 6 years max. colangelo has already said that he's not going to simply give him that without getting what he wants back for toronto. so unless bosh decides to take 5 years...colangelo can sit back and wait. there's a reason wade + lebron + bosh have not committed anywhere yet.

The Toronto Raptors have not spoken to Chris Bosh since their meeting with him on Thursday and have yet to be told which team Bosh wants the Raptors to send him to in a sign-and-trade, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Raptors have prepared sign-and-trade scenarios with close to a dozen teams, but are focusing on potential deals with Cleveland, Miami, New Jersey and Chicago. Talks with the Cavaliers have not progressed to where the Raptors have requested specific players, but it’s expected they’ll want forward J.J. Hickson and Anderson Varejao.

If Bosh is determined to leave Toronto and still get a sixth year and extra $30 million on his contract, he’ll have to engage in a sign-and-trade with a team that can give the Raptors an attractive-enough package. The Raptors would prefer young talent and draft picks in a deal rather than a salary-clearing trade exception.

Raptors officials have come to think LeBron James and Dwyane Wade will stay in Cleveland and Miami, respectively, and both will be fighting for Bosh to join them.

there is a line drawn in the sand by toronto. bosh has been very unprofessional as BC stated his agent is also frustrated with the lack of communication at times with bosh.

So it's about how bad Bosh wants his money and if so he's going to Cleveland as BC likes what Cleveland has to offer most. I still think the Rockets have a shot. Bosh has always been about the money.

yeah - egos. massive ones.

toronto can only dictate so much what they get back. if it's miami, they have very little leverage. if it's cleveland, they have slightly more because cleveland is over the cap.

from RealGM:

A person with knowledge of the negotiations told Ken Berger of CBS Sports that Chris Bosh is interested in teaming up with LeBron James, but he is more likely to sign off on a sign-and-trade that sends him to the Nets, Bulls or even the Heat.

Berger writes that Bosh "remains decidedly unenthusiastic about joining James in Cleveland."

"If LeBron went to New Jersey, he'd consider that," the person said of Bosh. "It's too late for New York. He wants to play with LeBron if LeBron leaves, but not necessarily in Cleveland."

A source says that the Bulls have not spoken to the Raptors about a sign-and-trade for Bosh.

The Heat is continuing to work to deal Michael Beasley in order to maximize their salary-cap room. Dwyane Wade canceled a public appearance he was scheduled to make in South Florida on Tuesday.

If I were Bosh, I wouldn't be very enthusiastic about going to Ohio either. Just sayin...

whenever I read a story about TOR doing a S&T with Miami I chuckle a little bit. How does that pass the laugh test?

The Bulls have had consistent dialogue with the Raptors regarding sign-and-trade possibilities to land Chris Bosh, according to league sources.

Whether the Bulls are at the top of the list is unknown. ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reported Tuesday morning that the Raptors have told the Cavaliers they are open to signing-and-trading Bosh to them.

That, of course, would significantly increase the Cavaliers' chances of retaining LeBron James, if it's true. League sources couldn't immediately independently confirm Broussard's report.

The Raptors have made clear their desire for Joakim Noah in sign-and-trade talks with the Bulls, who have resisted those efforts. The Bulls have proposed a package involving Taj Gibson, multiple first-round draft picks and a trade exception.

Most league-wide speculation has centered on Bosh either wanting to play with James or Dwyane Wade, whose appearance at a charity event Tuesday in South Florida was canceled.

One issue with Bosh going to the Cavaliers is he currently would have to play center, a position he has said he would prefer avoiding. The only way Bosh can receive a six-year, $125 million contact is via a sign-and-trade.

Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo told reporters in Toronto on Monday that he may or may not participate in sign-and-trade. However, teams pursuing Bosh believe that's merely a smokescreen and continue dialogue with the Raptors.

In other free-agency news, former Bulls guard Chris Duhon verbally agreed to a four-year, $15 million deal with the Magic. The Tribune reported that new coach Tom Thibodeau had performed background work on Duhon as a possible addition to the Bulls.

so one source says chicago made no offer and this one says they did.

this is a weird and conflicting report to me. Bosh wants a sign and trade. Bosh would like to go to CHI. Bosh may go to CHI with Wade. ...so Bosh gets 6 year deal with Bulls and Wade also goes there but for 5 years and less money?

for CHI to get 2 players, I would say that they would both just sign there, it can't be a S&T for one of them and just a sign for the other, right?

that's what's holding everything up:

DWade and Bosh both want 6yrs $120M. Extremely hard for a team to come up with two trade packages for a trade like that and still have anything left at the end of the day. Bulls already gutted their team down to the essentials to get close to two max cap slots - they don't have much to offer in a sign and trade for one of these guys, let alone two.

Miami has nothing to offer TOR for Bosh, so it's hard for them to get both guys.

Cleveland has little to offer TOR for Bosh, but possible can make the best offer at this rate.

Bosh and Wade and Bron want to team up somehow - but none of them are willing to take less money to do so. Greed and ego may keep them apart.

In hindsight, World Wide Wes may have done everyone a disservice by urging them to create cap room. It might have been better to keep those assets stocked in the cupboard for S&Ts. WWWes certainly made sure it was a spectacle though. When all this is said and done though, I wonder how front offices will view his input...

bulls can have bosh - they just need to give up noah. then they can get a center down the road. but for some reason, everyone thinks a team needs every piece taken care of before next season starts.

ultimately, bosh will probably end up where he wants to. it would be foolish to think otherwise. but hopefully colangelo can extract something more than what the initial offers were from that team.

that ship has sailed my friend.

raptors were going to do a huge promotional push for him to stay involving the city back in march...but scrapped it after they got bad vibes from him after the all star break.

in retrospect, think they should have traded him last deadline?

they had a deal for bynum at the deadline.

but they were 22-10 going into the all star break. everything was good in toronto and then with 5 mins left at home vs. the grizzlies in the first game after the all star break, bosh gets hurt. they lose that game in overtime and what was supposed to be a day to day injury last weeks. heading into the all star game bosh said himself "why don't i try to recruit players to come to toronto instead of the other way around?" - then it all went to sh t. as time went on, it's been said that he had "voices in his ear" and his focus shifted away from toronto. so at the time of the deadline...it would've been a premature strike when there was still a good shot he was going to re-sign.
