Well whatever, I think a big sit-down with LeBron & Amar'e is imminent...Either tonight or early next week...That meeting with these two has to happen now...If we really have Amar'e in the bag, I want him to sit down with the Knicks brass and talk to Lebron face to face at some point...To strengthen the cause, I really feel like we should be working on something else here in addition to Amar'e. Go get Parker as well! That could get it done..

It's a tougher call for me because I don't want Lebron getting the lane packed against him. Over 82 games plus playoffs, if he's gotta work his way to the rim that many more times, it's gonna add up. Like you said, let's suppose Gallo never advances past Schrempf status. He's still a very valuable guy in a MDA offense because he's gonna get so many open looks especially later in games when teams don't want LBJ beating them. Think of it this way, Knicks down 1 in the NBA finals, LeBron gets double teamed, I'm more confident with a pass to Gallo than a 15 footer from Parker...

Individually, Parker is a better basketball player currently than Gallo, but, as a fit for this team, I'm more reluctant.. I'd still probably do it..but I'm not as confident..

This is the whole point about whether James can mesh with Rose. You don't want, or need, a traditional PG with James. You don't want a PG who needs the ball to be effective offensively. We always use Kobe and Jordan as examples here, and their PGs were(are) never your traditional 8+APG types.

A Douglas type of combo guard is perfect for James. Good defender, surprisingly decent rebounder, and a pretty good shooter, as well as someone who can bring the ball up at times. That is the only kind of player you need. Rondo, on the other hand, would not be the kind of PG I would want with James.

Gallo for Curry would be more intriguing to me, since Curry can play both PG and SG. The only problem with him is that his D is average, at best.

Not sure that the Knicks go for Parker if James is on board.

You know what, we didn't find out about the 2nd meeting on Sat. until today...Maybe we really are going over tonight and Walsh lied to Chad Ford...Completely plausible -- I'm sure the Knicks don't want anyone to know what they're up to. Walsh is banged up right now -- he may not be going to Ohio anymore. Maybe that's why he was available for comment when Ford came calling a little while ago to confirm the rumor..Our boy Donnie may have given Chad Ford the ol okey doke here. What do ya think? Smokescreen by Donnie and we really did fly to Ohio tonight with Amar'e??

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks held a secret second meeting with LeBron James' representatives to clarify exactly where they stood in regards to signing Amare Stoudemire, two NBA sources told ESPN.com on Sunday.

The meeting, attended by James' agent, Leon Rose, Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald and others, took place Saturday morning in Cleveland before James himself met with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls, one source said.

It lasted about an hour, with James' representatives wanting to know whether it was true (it wasn't) that New York had already formally offered Stoudemire a five-year, $100 million contract.

James did not attend, nor did Knicks president Donnie Walsh or coach Mike D'Antoni.
"It was somewhat of a clarification meeting to deal with some of the misinformation that is out there," one source said.

A second source said it was the Knicks, not James, who requested the second meeting, which was first reported by the New York Daily News on its website Sunday afternoon.
As has been reported by ESPN.com, the Knicks have told Stoudemire they have a willingness to offer him a five-year max contract, with everything contingent on what James decides to do.
There is no shortage of players willing to team up with James in the Big Apple.

The Knicks told James in their initial meeting with him Thursday that if he signs with New York, he can choose which free agent big man he would like to play alongside, be it Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer or David Lee.

Stoudemire has fed into the folly by acting as though there was already an offer on the table, going so far as to tell reporters Saturday night that he was already recruiting Carmelo Anthony and Tony Parker to join the Knicks.

"I've talked to Carmelo Anthony that he needs to come out here," Stoudemire said on Saturday. "I've talked to Tony Parker. Both guys are ready to join me if I decide to come here. So we will see if we can work it out."

Parker and Anthony would not become free agents until next year. The Nuggets have offered Anthony a $65 million extension to remain in Denver through 2015.
Parker would have to get to New York via sign-and-trade and Anthony could sign as a free agent next offseason, provided he doesn't sign an extension with the Nuggets this summer and that the Knicks clear enough salary cap room.

In reality, however, Stoudemire will be seeking employment elsewhere if James tells the Knicks he wants to play in New York alongside a different big man.
ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reported that Stoudemire and D'Antoni had breakfast together Sunday. The purpose of the sitdown was to clear the air about any old grievances that may have existed between the two when they were with Phoenix in the mid-2000s, according to sources.

The first face-to-face meeting between Stoudemire's camp and a full Knicks contingent will take place Monday.

There were reports Sunday that Stoudemire wants to arrange visits with the New Jersey Nets and Bulls on Tuesday and Wednesday, but a third source told ESPN.com that no actual sitdowns had been firmly scheduled. The Knicks, however, are at the top of his list, according to sources.

The news of the second meeting between representatives of James and the Knicks came as The Cleveland Plain Dealer was reporting that James will not reveal his decision until after his Nike basketball camp in Akron concludes Wednesday night.
James will be free to sign with the team of his choice as of 12:01 a.m. Thursday, after the salary cap for the 2010-11 season is set.
