Yet don't lock this up. I like watching the Zach Randolph, Jamawful Crawful, and Jordan Hill fanboys still cry over their departure as we build a new winning team....that will actually, get this, WIN GAMES and not suck their way to 30 wins and "it's the coaches' fault" type failures.

I don't hate Walsh but I think he has made a lot of obvious mistakes that in my opinion are inexcusable. I think the most obvious is that he always lets everyone know what his goal is. Everyone knew who the Knicks were going to pick in 08 and 09 if he was available. In 08 other teams planned their draft strategy around the Knicks picking Gallo. Letting everybody know that the franchise's plan was to get under the salary cap to be a major player this summer allowed teams to fleece Walsh in trades the worst being the Hill and 2 first round picks for cap space. The Knicks now cannot trade a first round pick until 2014.
I also think Walsh made a huge mistake hiring D'Antoni. D'Antoni has done nothing without Steve Nash as his point guard during the 4 seasons he has coached in the NBA without him. He loses at a rate of almost 70%. Walsh allowed D'Antoni autonomy up until the March road trip of 2010. Up until last March, D'Antoni would not play his lottery pick or other first round pick, guys that were supposed to be a part of the 2010-11 season or at least have trade value. Walsh not stepping in and saying play these guys over Bender, Jeffries, and Duhon makes no sense other than he is an old school guy. That being said he allowed the franchise to be hurt by not exerting his authority.
Walsh also seems to be building his team based on the philsophy that character and maturity is more important than talent and upside. He has spent a lot of time protecting his coach and trading guys that might need a little more guidance. Draft picks with tremendous talent that filled needs for the team like Jennings, Stephenson, Warren or any player with talent over 6'9" that didn't shoot the three were ignored for four year guys known for their character and maturity.
I think my biggest problem with Walsh is that he has never confronted D'Antoni and made him do what was right for the team. Marbury, Darko, Nate, Hill, Hughes, Douglas, all could have been assets for the team if D'Antoni had handled things differently.
