Heinrich salary would hold them back and the 17th pick is not that special.

It really makes no sense for the Wizzies unless they have a deal in place for Arenas. I assume this is the case since it would be crazy to assume $9mil in cap for the #17 pick.

and it's $9M and another $8M the year after.

Here is the ESPN link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2010/news/story?id=5324240

The article also suggests that Sacramento is a backup plan for the same trade if the Wiz pull out. Sac, who have Tyreke, Francisco Garcia at $8M per, and Beno Udrih starting at $6.6M per going for an additional 3 years.... and they would add Heinrich?!

This does not pass the smell test.

yeah, it honestly smells like WWWes baloney.

none of these articles mention that the knicks have $17.9M committed for next season. none. when the knicks cleared down to $17.9M committed, they JUST BARELY had enough for two maxes according to the national media. now the bulls are at $22.9M - $5M more - and they somehow have enough for two maxes... according to the media (but not math).

and the knicks don't get mentioned among the teams with cap room to sign two maxes? only chicago with $30M cap room and miami with $27M cap room are mentioned? not NY with $35M - aka the only team with enough money to sign two maxes at $33.6M??

i don't think many in the media want lebron or bosh in NY next season. this is sickening.

The Celtics/ESPN definitely do not want NY becoming a threat in the east.

The reporting is just blatantly wrong. The Chicago Bulls are almost $4M short of having two max slots. It belies a serious bias. Or it's just noise coming from World Wide Wes's camp.

thank god for adrian woj at yahoo:

WojYahooNBA
After pre-draft deals, here's one team's projection of summer cap space: Knicks, $34.2 million; Bulls, $29.1 mil.; NJ, $27.2; Miami, $26.2.

Total $26.1M
Cap $56.1M
Space $30M

A MAX contract is $16.8M so Chicago does not have enough room.

thank you!

i wish i cared enough to email someone at ESPN.

They are close enough son--when you are that close--you can get it done. Give me a break between 30 and 33mm--fck that is easy to do.

For Chicago to clear that extra $3.6M, they will HAVE to trade Luol Deng for an expiring THIS year or draft picks. It's not that easy Briggs.

Yeah I'm with crzy here --- not only do they look like they'd still be short cap-wise but what's with this 'the trade needs to be consummated on or after July 8th' stuff? First off -- why is that exactly and second, I mean what if these FAs don't feel like waiting around for an extra week+ for the Bulls to get their act together? Crzy's spot on -- we are still the only one out of these few teams with legit room for 2 max contracts as of right now....That's July 1st --- in the meantime, it's up to Donnie to draft like a mo-fo and possibly pull off a trade that does nothing to hinder cap space, only enhance the roster and make it more attractive. Okafor/Collison, Rudy and #22, Tony Parker, dare I say Chris Paul...There still remains a few intriguing possibilities out there...We'll have to see what goes down...Really looking forward to tonight! A little over an hour to go!!

Childs2Dudley wrote:Well it's over. I don't Blame Donnie for the plan and the moves he did but it's obvious this franchise is cursed and going nowhere. Seriously. Knicks fans are a dying breed. Half the fans that attend games are out-of-towners and tourists coming to see the opposition. We are a week away from the great free agent bonanza and we will be left out in the cold. We'll probably scrape some mediocre fake franchise guy like Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer but what is that doing to do, really? Nothing.

I will give up on this team in the coming weeks. I've been holding out hope for a while but the end is near. I've been a diehard fan for the past 12 years of my life and I've reached my limit. I'm not going to prepare myself for another decade of losing. I can't handle it anymore. I know people always threaten to quit the Knicks and don't but I'm serious. The Knicks are simply not worth the time and effort anymore. I wont become a bandwagon fan of anyone. I guess I'll just watch random NBA games for my basketball fix. But as far as my Knicks passion goes? It's nearly all gone. And it's a damn shame.

Lebron and Bosh are coming. Book it. The trade signals you are seeing are reactionary in nature. The Miami moves are indicate that Wade realizes he is the odd one out of the James/Wade/Bosh triad. He is forcing Miami to get Johnson and Amare-- cause it will take the three of them to compete with Bron/Bosh/Gallo. Chicago realizes that James and Bosh are moving in the same direction (NY) and realize if the MIA and the NY deals happen, they are left with nothing-- not even competitiveness.

Here's the rub-- I don't think Amare leaves money on the table. I think Miami ends up with Wade, Johnson and either Boozer or Lee. Amare either stays in Phoenix or heads to Chicago.

I think we are good. Bron and Bosh 2010. No inside info here... just reading the signs.

I've been feeling the same thing. It is a natural setting for the 2 to play together. LeBron and Bosh. Then we still need a PG and defensive Center. The only thing that could derail this is James Dolan getting involved.

Well, just to address the 'feel like waiting around' -- there is a 7 day moratorium where free agents can talk to other teams but cannot sign contracts. I am with you that now is the time to pretty ourselves up for the potential suitors.

My only fear of Chicago is they have made the playsoffs for the last 2 years and they have a young Center and PG in place.

Noah
Bosh
Lebron
ANYONE
Rose

That is some NBA 2K ****

Miami, Chicago, New York

one of these teams gave away draft standing and players for major dissapointment.

I don't get why people think CHI-town will be left holding the bag.

Could easily be us. We are NOT in the drivers seat.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

yup. it's a three team race for two guys: Bron and Bosh. i see chicago getting Bron at this point. i don't know what Bosh wants to do. I'd love to see him in NY. we'll see.
