The stated goal of the GM is to try and massively improve the team and he brought in MDA to coach that team. In the end if everything goes wrong and we can't get anyone my belief is DW will stall until next summer. He's not gonna blow it all on sorry vets and probably not on low picks either. DW stated he wants to be cap responsible from now on and I expect he will be just as he did the last two yrs. He stuck to his guns.
wake the F up, it has everything to do with MDA & if he wants to coach a team full of rookies & young players... he was hired for a reason, & that reason was supposedly as a lure for bigname FA's to want to come to NY to play this summer... DW is all in on the starphuch plan for 2010, it's obvious... you don't give up 2 potential lottery picks & a #8 lottery selection with the idea that you want to build up through the freakin' draft genius.
Why don't you wake up! This whole thread is about unlikely hypothetical BS! MDA was brought 1st and foremost because he was the top coach available. The added bonus was that most of the top players like him and know him already and he's an acceptable coach thus taking that out of the equation as a negative. No player has ever picked a team based solely on who the coach is. Not if a better team and financial option is there.
MDA is a plus but only a part of the picture. DW will present a picture that also highlights the freedom we have to bring in the kind of players a top FA will want to play with, our good young returning players, the city and MSG, as well as outside business opportunities. It's never been all about MDA. The Doom n Gloom scenario is highly unlikely.
