Totally agree. I also think that the coach has shown that he will not play prospects and rookies. Hobbled, marginal vets with no upside and expiring contracts get the minutes for him so the trading for prospects and picks doesn't make sense with D'Antoni.

Toney Douglas played.

Not sure where people keep wanting to go with this. This is professional basketball not kiddie league where every kid needs to play for the fun of it.

You don't know what's going on behind the scenes in practices and such. The best players will play. You're not sitting Al Harrington all year so Jordan Hill can play like trash all year to "develop". Come'on.

Coach has a style and coach will play the best players who also fit his style and those players who also do what he asks.

Douglas played the last 19 games of the season. His playing coincided with Walsh traveling with the team on its March road trip to evaluate players and coaches. Prior to Walsh traveling with the team Douglas had 25 dnps and averaged seven and a half minutes a game. Douglas's lack of playing time gets brought up because it is a fact and it follows a pattern that this coach has of not playing rookies.

In the end if everything goes wrong and we can't get anyone my belief is DW will stall until next summer. He's not gonna blow it all on sorry vets and probably not on low picks either. DW stated he wants to be cap responsible from now on and I expect he will be just as he did the last two yrs. He stuck to his guns.

wake the F up, it has everything to do with MDA & if he wants to coach a team full of rookies & young players... he was hired for a reason, & that reason was supposedly as a lure for bigname FA's to want to come to NY to play this summer... DW is all in on the starphuch plan for 2010, it's obvious... you don't give up 2 potential lottery picks & a #8 lottery selection with the idea that you want to build up through the freakin' draft genius.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Why don't you wake up! This whole thread is about unlikely hypothetical BS! MDA was brought 1st and foremost because he was the top coach available. The added bonus was that most of the top players like him and know him already and he's an acceptable coach thus taking that out of the equation as a negative. No player has ever picked a team based solely on who the coach is. Not if a better team and financial option is there.

MDA is a plus but only a part of the picture. DW will present a picture that also highlights the freedom we have to bring in the kind of players a top FA will want to play with, our good young returning players, the city and MSG, as well as outside business opportunities. It's never been all about MDA. The Doom n Gloom scenario is highly unlikely.

I still sincerely doubt it has much to do with Walsh FORCING Mike to play Douglas.....but more Walsh maybe hinting he wants to evaluate what he has in the final games - of which were inconsequential to any playoff run (long since gone).

I see many conspiracy theories saying that Walsh and Mike are divided. I disagree. They both signed on and agreed about tearing down the team and building a new one. I think both talk often and are on the same page. Early on Mike played who he felt deserved it. He certainly made some mistakes I think TD showed enough early on to be a permanent part of the rotation and I thought Hill should have gotten a bit more time early on. But for the most part I don't have a problem with how things were handled.

Bottom line is TD worked on his game and kept himself in shape and always had the right attitude. When he got his time he showed his worth and now we have a good young player on our hands.

What is so bad about this I have no idea.
