If we don't get LeBron or Wade now, 2010 is an absolute bust.

Even if we get say Joe Johnson and Amare, how far do you think a team of JJ/Amare, with no PG, no bench, and only a supporting cast of Gallo, Chandler, and Eddy Curry will take us? We might sniff the playoffs but that's not even a guarantee.

Moreover, I hate how this deal pressures us to sign someone, ANYONE, in 2010. I was a fan of just sitting on our cap space if LeBron or Wade don't come here, but now if those two pass, we'll be begging the likes of 30 year old Joe Johnson to join the Knicks at the max.

Stupid, risky trade that only benefits us if we get one of the top two players in the league. Walsh needs to be put down.

Latest: A source told ESPN.com that the Knicks pick in 2011 is Top 5 protected. In 2012 the Knicks pick is only Top 1 protected

It's FRAUD.... but diggity dang

So you think we're going to be the 5th worst or worse team next year and the worst team in 2012?

Really?

Come'on...even if you're just trying to be a pest because you didn't like the trade you can't be completely blind to the potential of what we've done.

No way we don't field a competative team regardless of whether or not LeBron comes here.

Dude they get any pick after #1 next yr and any pick after #5 in 2012 assuming their position is better than ours next yr.

If the Knicks end up having a better record than the Rockets (Which will mean we've signed someone of major consequence), this will be an phenomenal deal for NYK.

Yeah, I not buying it is ok if we only get Johnson and Boozer crap. That is some old fashion BS right there.

If T-Mac can get back to 75% of what he once was, we have a legit All-Star. Shyt, he's had enough rest LOL.

If S-Rod is who ya'll have been saying he is for the past three years around here, then we've finally got a point guard.

We were going nowhere as a franchise. Now we just need to have the basketball Gods on our side. There is no reward without risk!

Our Options(Choose 1) with $34mil in cap space approximately

You can sign 2 Max Free Agents which will eat up all the Cap Space

You can use T-Mac and Sergio along with Lee in S&T's because all will command salaries above say $3mil/yr

You can re-sign T-Mac and Sergio along with 1 Max

You can re-sign T-Mac and Sergio along with Lee plus another moderate Free Agent

You can re-sign Lee and Sergio along with 1 Max plus a small Free Agent

We can sign two max free agents and re-sign Lee, McGrady and S-Rod.

Not with the caphold we can't.

what the hell is a caphold? I thought teams could re-sign their own free agents?

It's extremely hard to fathom, but basically, it goes like this... Lees salary, plus a certain percentage of it (same with tmacs and srods) will go against our salary cap. So what happens? We'd have to give them up in order to have the room to sign two max players. Then after we sign them (If we did sign them) we wouldn't have their Bird Rights anymore, so we wouldn't have anymore capspace to actually sign them. It sucks ars and is a real stupid rule.

There is no hedge here--if we sck if something bad happens--there is no remedy for years. The problem I have with it is we see what we could be missing this year--what if we miss a John Wall or Evan turner--guys who are probably better than any FA we are getting if we dont get LBJ. There is also a lot of intangibles were not talkking about. This is truly Lebron or bust--make no mistake--not on e person who really think basketball would say otherwise--Lebron James--or BUST.

Damn...shyt makes no sense and is confusing as hell, but thanks for tryin to clear that up.

Thats wack, I thought we had Bird rights. Definitely diminishes this trade to me, a lil'

Got to....how else could Walsh give up everything for a complete unknown? He's got at least Wade or Lebron on board.

I'm also majorly pissed at D'Antoni. If he ****ing played Hill and at least attempted to develop him the first half of the season, we may have built up his trade value, like Houston did with Carl Landry. We may not have had to give up two extra 1st rounders if Hill was treated as more than just a throw-in to this deal. Instead, Hill rotted on the bench on a team with no size in the frontcourt, and that got consistently outrebounded.

We still can't yet sign 2 FAs to Max contracts. We're about 1.5 mil shy.

If we land James and say Bosh, we have Chandler, Douglas, and Gallo under contract. Assuming we buyout Curry, that is 5 contracts. We would have no MLE or anything, so we would have to sign 10 minimum contracts? Thats kind of ridiculous. Do we at least have a 2nd round pick this year?

I can't believe we gave up a lottery pick (he really must suck) and two 1st round picks to get rid of JEffries. REally, teams must absolutely hate us. On the other hand we might really have some big free agent coming here. I doubt we are getting two maxes. More than likely, Lebron, Lee and another sole player and filler players.

I would have waited till summer to deal Jeffries. We are not signing two maxes anyway, why do the trade. We had enough to sign Lee and Lebron. We have an all star here and we just traded away our young center. Even if he isn't great now, he seemed like he would have helped defensively.
