What max guy? Joe Johnson and some guy for a little above MLE money? No. I'd rather trade Hill and go for the gamble. We are in TOO DEEP to pull out of this now.

i'm not opposed to trading Hill if we absolutely must, but combine him w/all the other assets & you're giving up too much on something that's not even a guarantee... that's the point... who says we're in too deep that we have to mortgage our future on the first deal that's presented to us? why can't DW use his gangsta skills & dump Fishlips onto another team looking for a promising young player like Jordan Hill? throw in cash if u have to... right now this trade reeks so much of the McDyess trade to me & we all know how that turned out... i know we traded for the player in that case & not the cap space, but the premise is the same... you're mortgaging your future on a huge risk.

TMS, you have to know the ability to sign 2 max guys make us much more attractive. That 1 max guy could be Joe Johnson and you know this board would be up in arms if that happened.

i agree w/u & acknowledge the value that more cap space affords us, but i think this can be achieved w/o having to give up so much... come on now, a #8 lottery pick, swap rights in 2011 & our 2012 for $10 million in cap space??? 2 days ago that offer would have gotten laughed off these forums by every single one of you & don't even tell me there would be people on board w/that idea if someone else had presented it.

tell the Rockets to take back Curry & Fishlips & throw us back Kyle Lowry & i'm fine w/giving up all those assets... otherwise i think we should look at other options to dump salary.

What is your fascination with Lowry? Dude is a backup.

he's an upgrade over Duhon at least & at least another usable asset coming back our way... plus if we trade Nate like it's looking like we might, he would be a perfect fill in... i'm not fixated on Lowry but he's got talent & he's young & fills a need.

Honestly, I think while NY and Houston were in the middle of negotiating and offering varied counter proposals, the info leaked a bit early. I think Houston might have asked for the lotto pick, and Ny probably countered, and so on. I think we (as usual with fans) are jumping the gun. I highly doubt Walsh would give up the lotto picks and Hill. Personally, I'd give up Hill in the deal to rid ourselves of Jeffries' contract. But I agree, I'm not parting with the lotto picks aswell.

Pharzeone wrote:Didn't you get the memo, TMS. None of that matters now. Donnie wants to trade him so it's time to trash JHill. No matter how he was built up to excuse not getting a point guard. That was so last week. He's a bum now. He can't get minutes on this great team. Guys in the 2012 draft class, bums. Guys coming out next year, who cares. The plan is intact. This was the last piece for Lebron's needs. Getting rid of JHill and those future picks ensures it.

i have been high on Jordan Hill in the weeks leading up to the draft & nothing has changed my mind about him... the assumption that he's a busted pick simply because we're willing to trade him now is so flawed it's not even worth addressing... i guess that made Jermaine O'Neal a bust too since the Blazers traded him away before he ever got a real chance... or Kobe Bryant was a bust since the Hornets traded away his draft rights... gimme a break.

Those were completely different situations, bro. The Blazers were priming themselves for a championship run so they were looking for a veteran presence. Bad trade, but their mindset was different. Kobe refused to play for Charlotte. They had no choice.

Hill has largely looked awful in the limited minutes he's received, and he cant even get burn on an awful team and is behind Jared Jeffries on the depth chart. Ok, we're trying to pump up JJ's trade value, then how do you explain signing a completely broken down Bender when we have Hill sitting right there on the bench?

Again, do you see us making this deal if we had Brandon Jennings? Thats my point. The pick was pretty much a wasted one.

absolutely not, i agree w/u, there's no way we'd be talking this nonsense if we had picked Brandon Jennings... i'm not disagreeing w/u at all that Jennings has proven to be a better looking rookie prospect this season... but there were red flags around him that caused him not to be picked & i have a big suspicion MDA never wanted a PG like him to run this offense from the beginning.

that said, the way u guys around here have turned on Jordan Hill in the blink of an eye now all of a sudden he's a scrub & a bust & this is proof of it is assinine IMO, no offense bro... a week ago he looked promising & he just needed to get playing time to show what he could do... today we have the same guys talkin nonsense like we should toss him into a deal as a fillin on a hope & a prayer that Lebron & Wade are both going to sign here this summer... it's crazyness.

I'm viewing Hill through the lens and or/prism of management and D'Antoni. I'm theorizing that they have faced the truth that his upside is low or non-existent and they realize they've made a mistake. That explains, to me at least, why they are essentially giving him away and his complete lack of playing time.

If they trade Hill and Jeffries, we take off Hill's 2010 contract ($2.7 mil) and Jeffries 2010 contract ($6.88 mil). Then have enough cap room for 2 max contracts. That is why Hill is being shopped.

I am not opposed to this but I am opposed to including 1st round picks and swaps. Actually, we should get the other teams 1st round pick in return for Hill, if it is not a lottery pick.

Thanks for including that. Thats the thing. Hill is basically a throw in. We're already giving them draft picks!

There's not a lot of time left to try and make a deal that can get us an extra 10 mil in cap space. If you really look at it, the trade may end up being Jared, Hill & 2012 pick for either Bosh, Wade or Joe Johnson. That may convince Lebron to come as well, so you have to factor that into the equation of what that pick and Hill brings back. IMO it increases our chances of bringing in the big prize to 85-90% if we can promise Lebron a Bosh or Wade Johnson or even Amare to play with.

i hope that's the case bro... i hope we're only getting vestiges of the early stages of a trade being discussed & Donnie's not dumb enough to throw all those assets to HOU just to dump $10 mil off our cap this summer... if we have to sacrifice Jordan Hill to dump Fishlips, so be it... i wouldn't be happy w/it but if that's the only way to dump his contract, fine... i can live with it... just pull back the 2011 swap rights & the 2012 pick.
