I think that is up to the coach. Duhon running around on that last possession and taking that airball is on the coach.

well d'andruffi has sucked eggs for sure but i mean beyond that are these guys clamoring for the ball, making sure they get it and then doing something with it when it's crunchtime? that's beyond the question of what "plays" the coach is drawing up at any particular time.

- Gallo is a team player, Chandler tries to get his (and, sure, some of this is due to Harrington chucking, Nate Chucking, Duhon to Lee to Duhon To Lee, so I understand Chandler trying to 'get his' but he chucks like Harrington when it gets to that, and that's dumb.
- Gallo has the tools to be a star player - Chandler is already peaked in terms of skill (but will get more savvy as he gains experience)

There is ONE thing Chandler has over Gallo - and that's health. Gallo could be in a wheelchair in a year for all we know.

But, in the scope of comparing two young players - if you had to make a decision? You keep Gallo because the reward could be SO much higher in the end. Gallo has the ability to be a MUCH better player than Chandler in the end.

Chandler is already a poor man's Tayshaun Prince. Gallo could be Dirk.

So what would YOU choose? Prince or Dirk!?

Yeah....Dirk.

So there is why Gallo is considered more untouchable than Chandler.

Now, just to throw this out there, if both players we have right now - were to never change - were both at their ceilings - well then sure, Chandler is the one you keep.

As with anything there is uncertainty here.

Are we watching the same player? Danilo Gallinari doesn't have a 1/100th of Dirk Nowitzki's talent or skill. Gallo is Toni Kukoc/Detlef Shrempf/Robert Horry at best imo. He doesn't have the athleticism, skill or speed to be a top flight SuperStar like Dirk. I really haven't seen much out of Gallo except standing there as a spot-up shooter. He doesn't drive (only about 3 ft attempts per game) enough to ever be a top scorer either. He's an OK rebounder, passer and defender but nothing special. Projecting him as Dirk is ridiculous. He'll be a 15-18 ppg, 5 rpg, sharp shooter who plays hard, plays team ball and doesn't cause any drama.

listen to what you just said.. he is kukoc at best, yet he doesn't have 1/100th of dirks talent.. Newsflash.. kukoc was a better athlete, ball handler and passer than dirk.. so explain to me, how what you just posted is anywhere near accurate? Sounds moreso like a post to bash gallanari.. Are you even being serious?

I am not so sure I agree with you there completely. I usually go around to other boards on realgm and other teams and fans think highly of gallo. I can tell you this. the fans in minny would gladly trade the rights to rubio for gallo.. but they think chandler is trash.. I am being for real..

As far as gallo's handle. they are good man, he is not allen iverson with the ball, but he is effective. he gets to the hoop and notice how often he is fouled dribbling on his drives. He takes long strides and he can go either way with the ball, can go left dribbling just as good as he does going right.. that is not common for big men, not common for most players to be honest..

when we talk about IQ, I think about him making the right plays at the right time.. watch some of the passes he gives lee and jeffries on the pick and roll.. knowing what type of pass, and angle is important. He seems to just get it... watch the way he dupes guys into fouling him on the perimeter.. again, the kid plays with a level of smarts beyond his years.. not to say he doesn't have flaws, but it seems as if some people are taking his flaws and using it to mitigate his overall skillset as if he will never overcome those flaws..

I am talking about non-fans. No disrespect to the realgm board but from what I seen most of those guys sound like they started watching ball about 10 years ago, so I'm not surprise. His handle is good when standing still but on the move it becomes very suspect which is normally when he gets into trouble and gets his turnovers. Also, fouls calls is subjective. He tends to flop on contact which is why he seldom finishes with an and 1 call. I'm sorry but can we stop talking about his passing. He is averaging less assist than Chandler's. I think you guys want to see things because of where this organization has been. I don't want to get into this again but I don't see anything that would make me say his IQ is any higher than the majority of players on this team. He tends to make the some dumb plays just like all them. Unforced turnovers, questionable fouls and etc.

nah, man, for real and no offense as well.. there are some cats on realGM who could match or blow away anyone I know on either site when it comes to ball knowledge.. that is a very diverse group on realgm.. from doctors, to lawyers, to accountants, to college students... these guys are huge ball fans.. if you sift through the "kids" on realgm, there are a lot of smart posters there..

when you shoot over 40% from three, I would say that is being pretty smart.. yet in dirk's first year he played 47 games, shot 20% from three, yet 50% of his shots came from three.. how smart was that? again, guys grow, players grow, if you think the gallo you see now is the same player you will see in a year or two, then you are fooling yourself.. and the gallo I see now is a pretty darn good player..

I'm not saying all the posters but the majority of posters. Actually the posters that I used to like on there normally get banned. Some of those boards should just shut down. The Lakers board is a joke. I see more hip hop related items on the board than basketball except Kobe vs. Lebron breakdowns.

Gallo's unique attributes make management gaga over his potential. Wilson Chandler fits the mold of a typical wing - not to say he's really dime a dozen, because I think he could evolve into a top 10-15 starting SF in the NBA. But you can replace him relatively easily with say, let's say a DL player like James White, and not lose too much.

Gallo's potentially a game changer. He's not a prototypical anything - he's a living, breathing, matchup problem that we can only hope continues to expand his game. But as he is today, he's already more of a player than Tim Thomas ever will be and could/should eclipse what Rashard Lewis is in the near future.

My take is that Gallo is a very smart kid and to look at him now from where he was at the start of the year it's amazing how far he came. He has some parts of his game to develop and take advantage of, but skill wise you can see that he's able to do a lot more than he's doing right now.

This is gonna be a huge off season for Gallo. It should be his 1st time as a pro where he can get with the trainers and coaching staff to work on his game for real. I can't wait to see how he looks next year. Hopefully he's like Lee and comes back each year adding something to his game. Tho I hope he works out and gets stronger. He doesn't have to change his body, but just get in better overall shape, with more strength and explosion.

This is where the hype loses credibility. 6'10" 3 point shooters that can drive are not new.

2) Charlie V.
3) Jamison
4) Dirk
5) Lewis
6) Harrington

And that's off the top of my head. He's on your team and he is new but come on.

I think it is a matter of draft position. One player was told that he could a lottery pick if he stays another year in college and become more consistent (Jay Bilas) since the lottery was fill with tournament players and another player came out when he was told that he would be the first European player off the board since the crop that year was weak (Jay Bilas).

to me, the thing that sets Gallo apart from Wilson is his penchant to step up in big moments & knock down big shots... Wilson has not yet really shown that willingness to take the big shots in crunchtime as Gallo has... i like both these kids but i would probably be more willing to trade Wilson for that reason alone... plus the fact that i think Gallo seems like a more logical piece to fit next to someone like Lebron for instance.

I have to say I got to see them in that position because they both are lacking in terms of willing to take shots. I recall Gallinari passing off a wide open jump shot last year to Chandler. Other than when it is drawn up for 3 pointers I don't really recall Gallinari being asked to take game winning shots. I could go back to Chandler's Boston game last year where he put up 30. I haven't really seen the coach ask either of them to really do it yet.

As far as fitting next to Lebron. I don't know about that other than parking on the 3 point line. We make the point about Lebron coming here. Well he actually plays the position that Gallinari currently starts at. Chandler is playing the 2 spot. Is Gallo going to play the 4 because that opens up another can of worms and we can begin to talk about ability to post up. Besides other than Mo Williams I don't know how many guys on the Cavs sit on the 3 point line. Ferry has gotten him shooters too but for whatever reason he doesn't flow with them. The ability to create your own shots seem to be something that Lebron likes vs. having to setup guys on a regular basis.

Lebron sets up Boobie/Parker/Big Z all the time for perimeter shots. Gallo has stepped up and taken big shots this season against the Bobcats, Detroit, Clippers, Bulls but he he is by no means a big shot maker. He has big shot maker ability and he has the mentality if you look his way he'll want to take them. But Knick fans seriously overrate this kid. Frye showed signs of being a big shot maker to a degree when he was here IMO this means nothing at the moment because really the idea is not to be playing close games for such a setting. If Gallo has this ability to make the bigger shots over Chandler then Chandler has the ability to go on scoring sprees in crunch time better than Gallo.... this is a fact. Chandler has shown at least 3-4 times this season not that one shot separates him but his overall game does, where he takes the game over. Unfortunately in his case at times it proves for not because of our ineptness but no slight on him. Our coach has already given him the most praise this season for growth out of everyone on the team. They both can improve their games, no question but has some catching up to do and if Chandler does become more consistent from deep then IMO Gallo probably won't be better than him. It may come down to them being equal in talent.

What I saw the kid do in Europe is nothing what he does in the NBA. Gallup made some long 3's this season and people say he's clutch and the kid hasn't even tasted the 2nd season(playoffs) to prove it. That's where opposing teams hone in on what you like to do and watch hours of game film to shut down what you do well.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I am talking about guys that they brought in to be his shooters like Wally and Pavlovics (I know this isn't right). I remember quotes about him getting on those guys for not creating their own shots.

BTW, is Wally out of the league? I haven't seen him on any roster so far.

Chandler is dumb as bricks??????
Chandler has peaked?????
Chandler is lazy????
Chandler tries to get his???

I kept reading waiting for the punchline but there was none....

For your guide, its been said that Chandler is the hardest working player on the Knicks in terms of working on his game...

I'm stunned...

I keep hearing about high IQ and superior skills but I don't see it other than hitting the 3 pointer don't know what advantage he has. He doesn't use his height well in the post, he seems to have real problems taking guys off the dribble, is not very creative despite the fact you keep hearing about ball handling skills that don't materialize, dribbles far too high and is too slow to be effective against wing men. I do believe there is also deeper issues between the two of them just look at Cosmic's post. He maybe the most over hyped player in NY. Once you get out of NY it is not quite the same. They break down his game truthfully.

I'm not saying all the posters but the majority of posters. Actually the posters that I used to like on there normally get banned. Some of those boards should just shut down. The Lakers board is a joke. I see more hip hop related items on the board than basketball except Kobe vs. Lebron breakdowns.

yea, some of those boards are odd, but you see where the huge basketball fans are.. toronto, chicago, NY are usually the hottest boards.. minny is suprisingly active..

You run a good ship over there. Diverse group of guys with diverse thoughts. Chicago board is pretty good. New Orleans board is a joke. Two years ago very active but now barren.
