JrZyHuStLa - there is always a weakness to exploit or kvetch over. For the record, the Knicks weakness from the lead guard position is obvious. Chris Duhon does a poor job of passing in traffic and as a result is more comfortable hoisting from long range where his poor handle and subpar court vision is not exposed. Yes, Duhon is a weak link and plays like he is afraid of contact. There are moments he sucks. But I choose to focus on the few positives that compensate for his temporary employment.
This imperfect team is playing better as a whole.
Bottom line, if a player slips a jersey with New York on the front, over his head, he gets the benefit of the doubt. It is hard enough to play without press vultures on deadline circling to write about any rumor of a rumor. I care less about how someone feeling a player feels entitled to minutes - than hitting the open man and getting back on defense.
I have also followed dese guys long enough to know that things are cyclical. They also don't do nuttin' da easy way. So I don't live and die by the game. I like to watch the big picture and after a decade of wandering in the wilderness of the draft lottery, the Knicks future is bright. For every frustrated moment watching a careless turnover there is a bright moment waiting to happen with a young Lonnie Shelton or Danilo Gallinari - or a veteran like Paul Westphal, Kiki Vandeweghe or even Jonathan Bender trying to squeeze a few mere ounces out of his tank.
When David Lee was drafted I shouted at the top of my lungs. My boy Eric looked at me like I was crazy.
Bottom line, the Knicks only other weakness are the few weak-hearted fans who only know how to complain and celebrate when they lose. It is much easier to complain - than invest your faith in something unknown, say for example, a player like the 20 year old Wilson Chandler. Anyone can root for him when he's dropping 27 points 7 rebounds and 5 assists. How many can support a young player through his turnovers, blown defensive switches and typical rookie struggles, and see him as a player worth cheering for, BEFORE he blows up? I choose to see the so-called "upside", the bright moments and the PO-tential. P-o-t-e-n-t-i-a-l.
That is why I AM The Mayor's Campaign Manager, going on three years.
And yes, if John Starks came out of retirement, I WOULD be right there pulling for him to dunk on someone resembling Horace Grant. You got a problem with that?
