Whaaat?? Melo is a leader of men, Bosh is a second fiddle at best.

how did you get to this conclusion?

I should have explained. Melo has lead an awesome Nuggets team to 50+ wins in the Western conference for how many years now? And he won a 'chip with 'Cuse.

Bosh has been on a mediocre team his whole career. Coincidence?

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

same thing that makes Paul Pierce better. The stats are a push, and none of the 3 are good enough to make a team of role players a playoff team. But if you tied with with 5 minutes in the 4th Pierce and Melo are going to win you a lot more games than Bosh will. They are finishers and I think that counts for something. Doesnt always translate in the box. Same with Roy... we can hash this over 3-4 dozen hoegaardens at the ski house. Cmon up

did melo lead them or billups b/c i think it's chauncey...

melo's an awesome player but i don't think he's the one that's lifted them up into another level.

even if you take the Nuggets out of the equation, he was THE guy in an NCAA championship.

this is just leadership. Bosh MIGHT have that in him, but we haven't seen it yet, and the comparison you asked for was ATM (at the moment)

the Nuggets had a ton of talent on that team last year... Chauncey Billups, Birdman, K Mart, JR Smith, Nene, Kleiza... that's a lot better than what Bosh has around him in TOR... aside from Hedo & Bargnani, who does Bosh have right now? Derozan's still a rook learning the ropes... Calderon has been out the past couple weeks.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

fishmike - Based on our record now, how does Chris Bosh and Jordan Farmer make us serious championship contenders? I really don't think that's enough to put us over the top by a long shot.

Carmelo destroyed college kids when he was a good enough player to hold his own in the NBA. I don't know if that's "leadership". I think if you can come up with some specific examples you'd make a better case of Melo being a better leader than Bosh.

Ex:

There are some great stories out there about Jameer Nelson being a leader. He organizes outings with new teamates to try to bring them into the fold. He runs his own little preseason camp to get everyone familiar. He's not the best player on the team and certainly not anywhere near the best PG in the league but seems to be a great leader.

I started this thread because I wasn't sure if I should believe what I'm reading or this was just a grumpy beat writer.

I don't really have a problem with Chris Bosh. I guess after all these years of misery I just stupidly want some degree of certainty that if the Knicks committ serious $ and years to a player that he

a) play hard and care about both ends of the floor

b) be The Franchise. Sometimes your best player isn't going to be great vocal leader or get on any teammates who aren't trying hard enough. But at the very least if your best player works the hardest and buys into what the coaching staff is trying to do I think it's the start of building a great franchise.

dj, I take it you watch a lot more Raptors games than most of us do, certainly myself. Do you think Bosh fits that bill or that it's even realistic to expect that for max money these days?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

who does make you a contender? Lebron? OK.. if he doesnt sign what then? Dont bother improving?

Resigning Lee and adding Bosh whould give us a very good frontcourt with a ton of size and skill in Danillo/Bosh/Lee. Farmer is better and younger than Duhon in every way. After that you still have JJ and Curry's expiring contracts to use during the season if someone wants to pull the plug on a pricy player.

We have to get better. There isnt a magic bean here. The closest thing is LBJ. If that fails adding replacing JJ with Bosh in the starting lineup is pretty big.
