that's basically all that needs to be said here... the fact is that Donnie is not gonna sacrifice a shot at the big fish in free agency this year so he can trade away all his young talent for Monta Ellis... i don't care how much of a genius idea some of u think this is or how awesome of a player u think Monta Ellis is, it's just not gonna happen.

Stop and do the math man--that trade would only add 2.8mm to salary next year. We would have 20.9mm in cap space--much more than enough.

yea, but you traded away all of your young talent? How are you going to put a good team on the floor? plus I am not so sure how well these ball dominant guards work with guys like lebron and wade...

Monta Ellis is a star like player in this league--I dont know what else to say to you---believe want you want.

Watching Ellis drop 43 (and counting, 11 minutes to go) on the Pacers....

He's looking more like a mature Nate on a roll than Wade II but that's workable. Ellis is a better team player than Marbury (or Nate) but he's not exactly playing PG while dropping all these points. So far, he has 1 assist.

He was going to put up 55 if he didnt foul out. That was a dubious 6th foul--shouldve been +1

Regardless, Ellis did look like a star tonight. If GS really did offer Ellis around a few weeks ago, some managers have got to be kicking themselves now.

Just an aside but it's worth noting that while Ellis isn't the best PG around, he does generally play nice D, even smart off-ball D.

Is it really? An underwhelming SF a raw PF who doesnt play and a guy who has had back problems who has been a fair player so far. I wouldnt do it if I was GS--not enough but they seem like they want to cut costs and rebuild so they can help sell the team. The only keeper that I like is Douglas--the others--I would do it.

you can put any spin on it you want, but reality will always be reality. and what you're describing is simply not reality.

lets differentiate spin from reality

SPIN--Danilo is a superstar in the making--perhaps a Larry Bird like clone--Dirk 2. Reality Danilo is a good shooter when left unchecked on the perimeter -- waits for the game to come to him
has back problems and is underwhelming in many other areas.
Spin Jordan Hill is Amare Stoudemire in the making. Reality he doesnt even get off the bench.

Spin Wilson Chndler is Danny Granger part 2 reality Chandler is an underwhelming severely inconsistent somewhat dumb player.

Spin--Monta Ellis hasnt proven anything he really didnt shoot 54% in 82 games 2 years ago and he's some kind of trouble maker when a moped is present. Reality Monta Ellis is an NBA star at 24 from the lead guard at or near the same level as Dwayne Wade

I like Toney Douglas--he is much more a KNICK than these other very soft players. He was a good find by the Knicks at 29--I give them credit on that one but he also has to play. I can go to war with TD--not with these other guys--find me a player.

Losing any remaining credibility swiftly....

Losing credibility by standard of reality? I think this thread is done. You can pick up your jocks on the way out.

Chandler-Hill-Jefferies for Ellis?
Douglas-Hill-Jefferies for Ellis?

As always I think walsh was too late on this one. But I wish we could have brought him in. He is an elite scorer with top 10 ability. I am just wondering who you think you can get for 11 million as said as that sounds that can do things across the board. Donnie has ****ed up the draft so bad that we don't have any semblance of a team in place. Getting a lead guard that can score like this would be amazing, especially at the price of deal #2.

Ellis-Lebron-Chandler-Gallo-Lee would be a nice team with a little bit of everything.

just watched the last quarter of the GS/ rockets game.. monta ellis was a mess down the stretch. bad shots, turnovers.. He dribbled the ball off his feet with 30 seconds left. then down by 2 with 2.1 seconds left, he does some crazy move without dribbling and took like 3 steps, turning the ball over, and ending any hopes of his team pulling out the win.... he was a train wreck late... and this is the guy you want to mortgage our cap space for briggs?

ESPECIALLY when we get the, "we must get this player" thread after one game... It sort of puts things in perspective......

just trying to figure out how a GM can **** up a draft so bad that we have no semblence of a team but you seem to think the guy he picked can be a part of a nice team... how's that work?

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

If you happen to watch the games--they have been playing him 48 minutes--he was clearly gassed. They do things in a weird way in GS--that doesnt change that Monta Ellis is a superstar NBA lead guard.

Dang Briggs, I was starting to believe in you after your last few topics, and then you come up with folly like this one. Geez, the thought of giving up Gallo for Ellis? Please put down the glass pipe, big guy.

JUST NOTICED: This is an old thread from WAAAAAY back. I retract my comments.

I almost made the same mistake. Is there some way to add a disclaimer when you bring an outdated thread back from the dead?

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

You cannot not blame man for inability to evaluate future of the players.
It is very hard and it is impossible for BRIGGS, he put too much heart and not too much head into it....
