WTF??!! You think the difference between AI and Duhon is just 3-4 games. Duhon has cost us 3-4 games in just the first 10 games. We have the worst starting PG in the league BY A WIDE MARGIN.

No, the difference between Duhon and Iverson is quite considerable. But the entire team is horrible. Iverson is a scoring machine, not a guy who is going to make the team so much better. He doesn't make teams better, he puts up big numbers. See the difference? That is why nobody wants him.

The Knicks are terrible. Adding 10 games would make them really bad instead of terrible. Knicks + Iverson = Terrible, not "really bad".

I still don't see how you think adding Iverson simply winds up with the Knicks winning 10 more games. It doesn't add up. He doesn't carry teams like that anymore. That's the past.

It's wishful thinking. It's false hope. This is exactly the reason the Knicks considered signing Iverson in the first place, to bamboozle fans who cannot deal with the reality of how bad this team really is. To pacify them and kill time.

But if you insist on believing Iverson is the kind of player who improves teams, show me how much better Iverson made Detroit...or did they get worse when he arrived?

oohah

I am not asking him to carry the team. I am asking him to run the pg position competently and put up more than the pathetic 5 pts a game our current pg is doing. Of course, AI cannot carry the team. But can provide us with competent play at the point and force teams to have to worry about one more player on the court. With Curry back providing us with more size in the middle, I think this team could have started playing close to .500 ball if they had gotten AI.

TMS, picture that press conference that AI calls after he goes crazy, Walsh tries to bench him when he refuses to practice, and then what?

I would imagine that he calls out everyone from the GM, the coach, the owner, the players... they're all going to get called out on the carpet.

I'm not a big fan of some of those guys, but come on... the last thing this organization needs is another week of the press going crazy on them because someone in their organization lost his mind.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

AI just wants to start cuz he knows damn well he's better than guys like Rodney Stuckey & Mike Conley... i didn't hear him calling anyone out in DEN, did u? if MDA chose to bench AI in favor of starting any of our other G's i'd call my own press conference & call out everyone & their momma's for being stupid... i have no idea if he was practicing in DEN or not but all i know is he was putting up 26 & 7 as a fulltime starter not too long ago... if a guy putting up those kindsa #'s doesn't wanna practice, i deal with it & tell all our young kids that if they can put up those kindsa #'s during games they won't have to practice either.

And now the anecdotal "fan revolt" reports begin to pour in from the Daily News.

Stupica: By not signing Allen Iverson, New York Knicks show fans they don't care about them

Fans cry foul as New York Knicks pass on Allen Iverson
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2009/11/20/2009-11-20_new_york_knicks_fans_cry_foul.html

This one is a gem because it quotes only pro-A.I. fans in their 20s, with the lone dissenter the elder at 29.

I'm not quite older than Jesus but apparently I am an old guy after all.

Meanwhile the lead line on Thursday from Asshola was "The answer to The Answer appears to be yes."

It's like the News starts the fire, fans the flames, it gets put out and then writes an article complaining about the smoke.

At least one level-headed Knicks fan understood management's hesitation.

"He's just too much trouble. It's that ****y demeanor. You can be ****y, but sometimes you have to back it up," said Priscilla Reyes, 29, of Brooklyn, who seemed level-headed until she added: "I think David Lee is going to win us a championship one of these years. I'll give them until 2025 to win a title, that should be enough time."

LMFAO!

If you think Iverson is adding 10 games to the win total, then he is carrying the team don't you think?

If you are expecting Iverson + Curry to make this team .500 from this point on...come on dude.

Here is the way I see it: The Knicks as currently constructed are about an 18-22 win team if D'Antoni starts playing the veteran players and sits most of the youth, with the exception of Douglas because Duhon is horrible.

If Iverson adds 10 wins the Knicks are a 28-32 win team. I don't believe that is possible, but either way it is not worth it.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Dude, people pay money to see a quality product. Yeah, adding AI does not mean much in the grandscheme of things because it is doubtful he could get us into the playoffs, but he would have added more wins and made the games more entertaining. The Knicks are not giving people a discount this year for the game tickets, so why discount us by not putting out the best product that you can that does not effect your overall plan.

exactly, signing AI would not have hurt our 2010 plan & it would have at least given the fans a chance to be excited about this team, if even for a little while... throw us a bone for God's sakes! what's so hard about it? u sign scrub players like Anthony Roberson to multi-year deals but pass on a first ballot HOFer like Iverson on a 1 year minimum rental... it just boggles the mind.

And adding Iverson does not a quality product make. It adds interest. It give fans something to go on about on message boards.

Add Iverson and the team still sucks.

Unless he's getting Rubio this year, which he's not, then...

i hear folks' frustration, and i'm not saying it's an invalid pov to feel such a way...

heck i wanted iverson, and i am not too happy with the way the season is progressing either, but there are some legit reasons to be concerned about him on this team...

i think most of us would admit that, even those who wanted him.

my concern is that this one thing is turning into a pearl harbor for knick fans when even while i was for the move, it's a short term thing, that has to be weighed against long term plans.

the real bottom line is that in the nba, the knicks never played by the rules of the cba for a DECADE and under the way the system works will still pay the price.

if anything it's a problem with the nba structure, or just a reality of transitioning from where we were to an organization willing to play by them.

grin and bear it...or as uk folks would say, "man up!" to me is the motto for this year.

if you can't handle it, perhaps it is wise to step back and not follow the team for a while.

that might be a healthier choice for one's sanity.

Pres, this isn't really a shocker for me, i never thought Donnie was gonna sign AI to begin with... but i still say he should have & his reasons for not wanting to don't fly with me... if the main goal was to develop the youth then why did he trade for guys like Harrington & Hughes & sign Duhon last season? he could have easily just accepted any scrub expirings he could have gotten his hands on in exchange for Zach & Jamal & tried to milk some draft picks out of the deal in the process... he's talking out of both sides of his mouth on this one... last year he was trying to make moves to remain competitive while not sacrificing the longterm cap flexibility & we were all on board with that... now all of a sudden when he has the chance to improve the team w/a very good player & not sacrifice the longterm cap flexibility, he takes a pass saying he wants to focus on developing the youth... he's contradicting the moves he made last year by passing on signing AI this year if u ask me.
