I just feel after watch Hill play today that once his coach & teammates identify him as a focal point and learn to trust him and look for him more, his whole demeanor will change & his game is just gonna take off. Right now he's running around out there and his teammates aren't really looking for him. As a result, after a couple of empty trips up & down the court, I wouldn't say he loses interest, but his intensity level definitely takes a dive. We saw it in the end of this game. I saw him set countless strong picks out high and when he rolled to the basket, he never got the ball. That's gotta get a little frustrating...Once this guy starts to touch the ball more and once he becomes more of a focus in what they're trying to do out there, I think we'll see an elevated level of intensity and much sharper play on both ends. He's playing a little frustrated right now - some guys that play frustrated lose their edge. He needs to fight through it and maintain his focus and desire. Never let that fire die out. I wish he played with the passion of Marcus Landry - there's a guy that knows how to maximize his playing time. I'd love to see Hill demand the ball more on offense and just make the most of his minutes. Not everyone's like that I guess. Wilson Chandler's a perfect example. Maybe in Hill's mind, he feels like he doesn't have the right to force the issue like that yet on a veteran club, being a rookie and all. Who knows. I bet that's part of it - he's a low-key guy.. It'll come. We need to be patient with him - his slow start isn't all on him though, I can tell you that right now..
Good post, I agree. I see him roll off the picks with some space, and he NEVER gets the ball. No doubt it takes his edge off a bit. He's got to get over it and deal with the reality though. I like how active he is for a loose ball. I like his timing on his blocks. I actually like what I see in him overall, but no doubt he's raw.
