The Nets have a successful move to Brooklyn and will play in an amazing arena financed by billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. They sign Lebron James. Meanwhile, the Knicks.. well they don't get Lebron. Do you jump ship and become a Nets fan. No cop outs. No "I'll test the waters with both teams." Yes. Or. No.
I will remain a die hard Knicks fan, nothing can break me.
This organization has spat in my face. Brooklyn Nets, Lebron, here I come!

The Knicks are like that deadbeat guy with 5 kids of wedlock and no job. A lot pain with no rewards. Sure that guy may eventually get a steady job and start taking care of his personal affairs but am I going to be waiting around holding my breath not really. So though I wish the Knicks the best it seems like this organization is stuck on a repeat of failures. Let's face facts the Knicks are a medicore organization that has the benefits of playing in one of the best markets yet they still fail repeatedly at franchise building.

So no I don't have undying allegiance to the Knicks however there is a ton of ****ty basketball being played so I have yet to be overly motivated to switch teams.

I wouldn't necessarily root for the Nets because Lebron signs with them but then again that's because I'm not all over Lebron's jock like most NBA fans. The guy's an incredible player but imo he's not the end all be all that everyone makes him out to be.

But what if you're the mother of three of his five kids?

Bip, can you handle this please? I'm pretty sure I'd use it too.

I think Lebron jumping to brooklyn is not gonna be the big deal, its the team they would have and what they do.

There will be a loud bandwagon playing that tune and causual hoop fan is gonna be all over Lebron being a "Savior" thing.

But this russian is gonna want to mark his territory. This is not reform rich kid with is own part time band. This guy is a young hard core party animal with billions to play with. Nyets gonna go global and he is taking Lebron with him. He will make Cube his bitch.

when you go back to the days of Dean Meminger, Hawthorne Wingo, Pat Cummings, Rory Sparrow, Ticky Burden, Lonnie Shelton, John Gianelli...how could I switch because of No Lebron?

It would juet be a reason to hate the Nets even more!

I am a transplant from a different country. Never followed bball there, came to NY in 96 and started following the knicks, g-men and yanks.
While I didn't follow any of these before the nature of a true sports fan is universal. You pick your team and you stick with it. I would be supporting the knicks even
if they started to outsuck the timberwolves, or craptors of
recent years.

What else is the point of being a fan? Everyone can jump ship once a year. But then everyone would root for the same team. Nah I'll stick to
orange and blue, bigblue and pinstripes. The Nets can go #*** themselves. Up yours yo swamprodents.

I would stay a Knicks fan. Why? Because I'm not a sissy and I dont' have low self-esteem. Sports is cyclical. Sometimes your team is good and sometimes it's bad. When they are bad I have no need to go running to some team that is winning in order to feel better about myself. I stick with my team so when the cycle returns I can feel the utter joy of success after years of failure.

The rest of you guys have been sissified. Be like Bip and stick with your team. If you choose not to, I will kill you.

The Seahawks were mediocre for 30 years, then made it to the superbowl, and are now mediocre again. Bip could have jumped ship a million times. Many sissies did. But Bip did not. Instead I suffered, and suffered, and suffered. When the final whistle went off at the end of the NFC championship game and they were on their way to the SuperBowl. I wept. I did not weep like a sissy. I wept like a man that had finally seen nirvana after years of struggle. If I had jumped ship I would have missed that experience. Instead I got to see us robbed by the refs in the SuperBowl, but that's another story.

The moral of the story: Don't be a sissy. Stay with your team, so you can weep at some point in time.

i root for the logo on the front of the jersey, not the names on the back of it.

it matters to me who's playing for the team...it's a major reason why i like a particular team.

did u root for the Yankees when they had a team of guys like Kevin Maas, Hensley Meulens & Wayne Tollesson? just curious... cuz to me guys who abandon a team when they don't have any good players are known as bandwagoners... personally, i choose to remain loyal to the team i love no matter what the situation, & hope that someday that loyalty will be rewarded w/a championship... so far the Yankees & Giants have not let me down... the Knicks haven't won any championships since i've been a fan, but i know that if & when that day comes, i'm gonna be damn proud of this team & look back at all the rough years & think it was all well worth the wait.

i grew up with the yankees. that's what i meant by development years as a fan. i got into 50 fights a week during the mid 80's b/c i grew up in queens as a yankee fan. i remember the alvaro espinoza, andy hawkins, jose cruz and steve kemps...one of my favorites was claudell washington...
