GLFv2 - watching a baby take his first baby steps is not always pretty.

But it is a joy when they get it right.

I'm watching.

Being young doesn't make you good. Yue has played 28 minutes his entire NBA career and Darko sucks any way you look at it. I wouldn't want to watch that team, even if forced to.

We don't know what Sun Yue is yet. Being on the Lakers is an awful place to be if you want to develop as a young rookie. For all you know he could be a good player. How could he get a shot on that team?

Darko hasn't met the huge expectations but those weren't his fault. As a player he's got skills maybe he can put it all together here. I think that his other teams tried to force him to be a traditional center. He may fit this style better. We'll see how things work out but I'm optimistic about Darko's chances. What we need from him and what his strengths are matches. Pick n pop, shot blocking etc.

The problem is Sun Yue will never get significant time here. He wont play over Douglas or Duhon unless by some miracle he impresses D'Antoni so much. I hope he does become a diamond in the rough but rarely do guys with that type of talent get waived by other teams and go elsewhere and prosper.

Darko never had the motivation to be a good player. He lacks heart, like Eddy Curry. Lots of talent, very little motivation. Maybe he'll get up and play a little for D'Antoni in a contract year.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Sun Yue was a 2nd Rd pick cuz he wasn't a complete player. He's still got upside tho. It's not like he was on a bad team and got let go. He was on the World Champs. They're not looking to develop guys anymore. They're the freaking best in the world!!!!

Here at least he has a shot to stick and maybe play. If he has a good camp they cod hold on to him and continue to develop him for the future.

Darko has been a disappointment but he's still young enough to put it together. If it's ever gonna work for Darko this is the place it will happen. This coach and system are perfect for him. I think he's gonna be a useful player for us.

I just caught this little tidbit in reference to Sun Yue:

MD'A saw fit to blurt out the name of Sun Yue, the 6-9 free-agent pickup from China who played 10 games last season for the Lakers and "is better than what you think," the coach said.

Woah baby that would be so cool if this kid came in and actually got some run. I'd advise everyone to take a second look at Sun Yue videos and pay attention to his passing. The guy is athletic, quick and agile for his size, has handle and he might really help to fill in for us. He does a bit of everything and under MDA's guidance he just might find a niche. His size and passing is what intrigues me. To have that kind of court vision at his size the game is easier. Just imagine with him throwing alleyoops to Chan and Lee or swinging it out to Gallo or Al for 3.

I just ran through all the Sun Yue highlights. Dude has amazing handles for a 6'9" guy but this kid is still 1-2 years away from really breaking into the rotation. He needs to improve his jumper.

I feel the same way. A lot of his highlights are pretty much uncontested shots and layups.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Maybe Sun can impress enough to stick around at the end of the bench. Heck he's cheap enough. I just like his overall skills. From what I've read he's shown a bit more shooting touch in camp.

The Sun set tonight...he looked out of place and scared. It was really hard to watch....the rest picked up their play tonight, Sunshine (as Nate calls him) could not compete.

Sorry to hear Sun isn't making an impression with good play. I'm still pulling for the guy. I don't see how it would hurt to keep him around and try to develop him. We've given other guys a shot and they had less upside and cost more.

I wonder how Gabe Pruitt's doing. This is one end-of-the-rotation guy they brought in that I actually know & like. He's not some scrub, he's got game. His game actually reminds me of Duhon's a little bit only this guy's 4 yrs. younger, about 2" taller and more athletic. Out of all these minor guys they brought in, I wouldn't mind it at all if Pruitt and Crawford made the team. Crawford looked decent in SL, better than Almond to be honest, and has looked decent in training camp too. He can handle it pretty well for a 2 & he can drive & shoot. He showed he could flat out do more things than Morris Almond and his overall game looked much more advanced. They probably could've done even better, but Pruitt & Joe Crawford would give us some nice depth. Here's two guys that might not play that much but could be factors next year when things open up. And they'll have a year in our system under their belts by that time...

If this year was last year, then Sun would be getting some serious experience. It's a shame he missed his opportunity here. Last year, he would have bloomed!
