I think people understand and sometimes the pictures are used a little inappropriately. However, the ability to turn images OFF is what I find most helpful, because people probably aren't going to change when they how and use pictures. If I view ultimateknicks at work, the first thing I do is turn images OFF. Before we got that feature, I had the same complaints as you.

Here's the problem with that thrice offered solution: Turning off images doesn't stop a thread from being derailed by the posting of said images. It just removes the images not restore the thread's conversation.

i'm not trying to paint u as some kinda grinch Cosmic, u know that... i enjoy your presence on these forums, you post thoughtful comments most of the time & your vid clips are a valued contribution always... even tho u still can't admit your love for Jamal you're OK in my book.

LOL

You guys are ruining this thread with all these words.

Posted by sebstar:

what the hell you talking about images are killing threads? You got one of them old Tandy computers with a 56k connection?

It really would help if people were up to reading a post in full so they could comprehend what the post is about. I guess this is asking far too much however.

Let's make it as simple as kindergarten then.

1. Nice thread with good convo.
2. User posts stupid FAIL picture in convo.
3. Other users stop posting good convo and focus on or try to out do FAIL picture.
4. Thread is destroyed.

Is that easier to follow?

If not, I give up entirely.

I think we should just stop stringing words into coherent sentences and just post pictures instead.

I understand where Cosmic is coming from. As you all know, I come to this site primarily to engage in serious basketball discussion. Unfortunately, there is way too much clowning around going on. This distracts us from discussing some very serious issues that have not gotten enough attention around here. Primarily: What are the chances that we might get LeBron? Should we sign Ramon Sessions or not? What's going to happen with David Lee and Nate? Will Curry shape up and have a good year? The posting of humorous images, videos of past games and silly jokes do not serve to further these very important discussions. So I think we should all pledge that, from now on, we shall do nothing but have serious, earnest discussions of the Knicks and basketball here on ultimateknicks.com

So the master of the one or two line quip post speaks out for "earnest discussions." I'm sure we'll see a marked difference in the seriousness of your posts from now on... right??

Huh? I'm one of the serious participants in serious basketball-related discussions around here. You must be thinking of someone else. Bippity10 perhaps? People often get us confused because our names both start with the letter 'B'. Now I agree that Bippity10 adds nothing to the site.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I'm such an A'. I agree with Basketballjones though. All posters who try to be funny should be suspended indefinitely. Perhaps for life.
