After the last decade, I'm ecstatic with where we are right now and my expectations for this coming season are very low.

So no dissapointment coming for me. Anything we so this season is gravy.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

that's pretty much where i'm at too... i think Walsh still has a lot to prove but the direction he's taking this team is encouraging to me & i do like the plan he's sticking to... if it doesn't rear any fruit in 2010 then it'll be time to start bitching, but not now... this year is a throw away to me as far as i'm concerned... all we should be looking to do is pumping up Curry & Fishlips' trade values as much as we can so we can dump them at some point before the deadline, & giving max run to our young guys to let them develop their games, whether they struggle in the beginning or not... but obviously that leads to more of the "this guy is a bust" after 2 games threads that people love to post up around here on a regular basis... i guess that goes w/the territory.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

We are having a hard time signing veteran star FA this year. I hope next year is different and I like the fact that Walsh is going for it. My main concern is that we won't have enough good players to attract a Superstar next year.We will lose most of our better players.

We may:
- not re-sign Lee;
-let Nate walk;

After this year most of our starters will be gone as their contracts expire:
-Harrington, last years leading scorer;
-Larry Hughes;
-Duhon;
-Darko.

What do we have left that will attract superstars?? Our young players? I hope so but as of now they are all unproven except for Chandler who has shown he can play significant minutes. And we still have Curry and Jeffries. Not much to attract a superstar who wants to win.

"IMO personnel wise the game has passed Walsh by and NY needs a younger FO guy to lead New York into the next decade. "

Didn't we say the same thing about Larry Brown

And...?

Has Larry proved that he's a genius again?

No....But I think he's proven that the game hasn't "passed him by"

What did he do to prove that?

What didn't he do?

if they sign sessions to a MLE contract, does this indicate a deviation from "the plan"
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

perhaps you should pay more attention to Walsh instead of just poo-pooing every little thing. Walsh has constantly said that he would deviate from his 2010 plan if he could sign the right player.

so giving up the dream of signing even one max player to pay Ramon Sessions is acceptable?

and 4 the record I don't poo-poo everything Walsh does. I was one of the few people here in agreeance with his decision not to trade Chandler for the 5.

not what Walsh has said or what was intended.

You want to have a discussion about this or you want to throw stuff out there and see if it sticks?

have you actually looked at the cap situation?

until lee and nate are off the team, I will count them as on the team. With that being the case because of the 16 mil cap hold they represent if they take the QO, NY will be at around 38 mil in the summer of 010. Don't know when they have to pick up the options on Chandler and Gallo but thats another approximate 6 mil. Thats a total of 44 mil.

If the cap goes up to 60 mil thats still only enough to sign one max FA.

We can still sign one Max FA along with Sessions if we don't resign Nate and Lee.

Curry - $11.2M
JJeff -- $6.8M
Chandler -- $2.1M
Gallo -- $3.3M
Hill-- $2.7M
Douglas-- $1.1M = $27.2M

Assuming there is a $55M cap minus $27.2 in salary = $27.8 in cap space. They can do it even if the cap decreases to $50M.

Max contract is $16.5m

$27.8-16.5= $11.3M in FA dollars.

The question is whether the Knicks would be better off trying to clear another $5 or so mill in cap space to sign a second max FA or going with a MLE player like Sessions? I don't know who the reporter is that is saying we will make the offer to Sessions, but I don't really see it happening.

A cap hold isn't the end of the world. The Knicks would simply renounce their rights to Nate and Lee and then sign another FA. Come on, be a deal maker, not a deal breaker.

He went from winning 50+ a year to the 8th pick in the lottery, so of course
I just hope that people will like me

D'Antoni achieved about what you'd expect from the roster and didn't do lots of senseless things like starting the most lazy, bad attitude players or use the media as his primary source to start feuds with players.
