This would be an awesome deal, it's not even the maxed-out MLE. Sessions is a very good player, I hope Donnie is right about Milwaukee not matching.
Wouldn't a 5 year MLE deal still be a good deal for us but at the same time make Mil less likely to match?

This would actually be better than signing Kidd, Hill, or Andre Miller.

give it a shot. He cant shoot but otherwise fits the system.
this guy is not worth the full MLE over 4.

The cap space should be reserved for a star player. If we dont get a star player, roll the cap space over to the next year. The NBA is a league of stars and you need a star to win.

Seriously, Nate is probably more talented than this guy.

The kid is only in his third year. There are plenty of guards who had to learn to shoot in this league and most of them took 3-4 years before they got it. Also long as this kid is a hardworker, he will be able to improve his shot. This kid is young, a solid passer, and a good penetrator. He needs to improve on defense and shooting, but the fact that he is a 45% shooter shows that he knows his limitations and takes good shots. If we get Sessions and can resign Lee, this team has a good chance to make the playoffs this year.

I AGREE! Sessions is a young talent that i'd take the 5yr risk on. I think you do need a superstar as well to compete... but those people waiting for Lebron and DWade to save NYK are dreaming. Thus the superstar quest is over, we'll sign Joe Johnson and be happy in 2010! Sessions' 13ppg and 6 dimes as a backup pg is nothing to overlook. I think his numbers will improve by +2 as a starter! Get it done.

This MLE signing would be the complete opposite of the JJ signings. Here is to hoping.

With a pg as steady as Sessions...don't be suprised if the Knicks shock a few people. The offense will look crisp at all times...Knicks hopefully have to get this kid in NY by early August....gotta get a head start on the bonding process before training camp...

Sessions seems like a good guy. I do so hope that he is able to use the Knicks interest in him to get a better deal with some other team.

there's a highlight mix. fishmike i think asked whats the difference between sessions & nate. beyond sessions being half a foot taller, he's definitely a true pass first PG. i'm excited, i hope the knicks offer.

If we could get Sessions, I think I'd resign Lee and try to package Hill to get Jeffries out of here.

Take on about $12 per year in salaries and get rid of $8, not bad.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

He looks good but it's a bit of a stretch when they call him "the best young point guard"!

i get the feeling a lot of this talk is coming from his agent. like, a lot of it. we've heard when the knicks have had the other PGs and FAs in town to visit. Would they really offer Sessions this big a deal without meeting with him in person?

The agent also claims that LA Clippers are interested and they have Baron Davis and just traded for Bassy Telfair, not to mention Eric Gordon. There are also "rumors" that Oklahoma City is interested despite having Westbrook and Harden in the backcourt - OKC passed on drafting Rubio because they felt Westbrook was their PG.

I dunno, something smells funny on this one.

Bucks' Sessions expects multiple free agent bids

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Ramon Sessions' agent says the Milwaukee Bucks' restricted free agent point guard is anticipating offer sheets from at least three teams.

James "Chubby" Wells says Sessions has not received any firm offers as of Tuesday afternoon. But Wells reiterated comments he made to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this week, that he was anticipating bids from the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and a third team.

The Bucks made a qualifying offer to Sessions, giving them the right to match any offer from another team.

"Chubby" has to be the worst nickname since the kid "Boner" on Growing Pains.

Cannot believe no offer today. I was so pumped for this guy. Does any team in sports make it so painful to remain a loyal fan?

my guess is that they are working a bigger deal. Say, Mobley + Duhon for Session and whatever.

Bit more complicated, but from the Knicks' perspective, it would ensure Sessions without MIL matching an offer.

I would love the idea of getting this kid. We know we need to improve at PG and he's at least shown what he can do in the NBA. Less of an unknown than any draft pick. Drafting young vets that have shown promise already is a very smart move.

This is a PG with good size and passing that can learn under MDA and master this system along with our other young guys.

Kurt Thomas (36) and Bruce Bowen (38) both have restrictions that expire Aug, 23rd. They could be a couple of defensive minded veteran players with expiring contracts that we could be interested in as filler.
