Knicks Meet To Discuss Andre Miller
Jul 12, 2009 4:36 PM EST

Knicks president Donnie Walsh and his staff were planning to meet in Las Vegas to discuss the possibility of pursuing free-agent point guard Andre Miller.

New York is denying reports that the team is working a sign-and-trade with Philadelphia involving Miller and Chris Duhon.

However, one team official mentioned a sign-and-trade as a possible alternative if Miller rejects a one-year, $5.85 million offer.

Miller was said to be looking for a three-year, $30 million contract before the market dried up.

A sign-and-trade with the 76ers would allow the Knicks to offer Miller $7.6 million (125% of Duhon's contract plus $100,000).

Via New York Daily News

I hate RealGM summaries of other articles that are really only guess.

RealGM:
"However, one team official mentioned a sign-and-trade as a possible alternative if Miller rejects a one-year, $5.85 million offer."

NYDailyNew:
"However, one team official said that it is a plausible alternative if Miller turns down a one-year, $5.85 million contract."

And both of these are based on the assumption that Philly and NY were actually talking about a swap, which they were NOT.

We'll see what happens....its funny how Felton, Sessions and Miller remain unsigned.

Reading the Philly papers, it looks like they really are not interested in keeping Miller. A sign and trade seems possible.

Good call Eny. I rank them Felton, Miller, Sessions when it comes to who I want to see here.

I mentioned them before. I guess you can also say its funny Lee and Nate are still unsigned....and Drew Gooden too right?

Anyway....Knicks need to get one of these point guards.

I admit I have not seen too much of the bobcats and felton, but from what I have seen I am not sold that he can run this offense, the same with Miller. My vote is for Sessions out of those three. I think he has the ability to breakout into a star player if he has a good coach and I think we can offer that to him if he can handle the pressure of NY.

I like all 3guys and I think all definitely can run an O, but I think we're looking for a PG who can consistently stick an open J. All 3 are really erratic in that regard. I guess Felton's J is the best of the lot.

Anyway I was really behind a Lee for Felton swap last year, and I'd be a hypocrite not to advocate taking a look at Felton now. However financial flexibility remains an issue and there may be better candidates to look at next year. If we really want to try Toney Douglas at PG then I think Duhon is still the perfect transitional PG.

Here's my thing with Sessions, we would be following the same principle we did with Duhon, taking a pretty unproven talent and hoping for the best. I would rather they went for a bit of a more proven commodity. I would even offer Felton the full MLE over Mille
r due to age and the fact Felton is a better fit, IMO.

better fit? I though Felton was a good half-court guy while Sessions would be better in the MDA offense.

I can't quote on my phone but I do remember in an interview Felton said he prefers a transition game. I will try to find it after work and post it.

Sessions aside, Felton was superb at the full-court game in college at UNC. He's only playing half-court now because Larry is there. Both would do well at running full-court.

i would try & sign up Miller to a 1 year S&T deal using Mobley's contract & then make a strong play for Rubio in a trade... i don't mind overpaying for 1 year to get a veteran to come here but i see Miller more as a teacher for an eventual successor than as a longterm solution... we can better assess our options after the year is over if we hold onto our cap flexibility... i don't think either Felton or Sessions is really worth a longterm investment either.

It doesn't sound like Miller is staying in Philly. RealGm via the Inqurier is reporting that Miller was offered 1 year for 6 Million and that Stefanski is going to look into sign and trades.
