Clearly they cannot combine Reddick... but they can split the exception and use it on two different players in two different trades. I don't think they could acquire two players in one trade using the exception.

Also, ESPN is reporting that the trade exception is only $7M.

I believe Orlando also has 2 other exemptions for Dooling and M. Wilks that total $3M.

i don't think you can split the exemption either.

they can't combine trade exemptions to make 1 big one.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Just throwing this out there...do you think Orlando would shop Jameer considering the amount of success they had without him?

And while you can't combine players and trade exemptions what about doing something like in one deal Lee and $3 mil for Nelson straight up and in another deal
we do something like a resigned Nate(or even Duhon), and Jefferies for the exemption?

Dwight
Lee
Rashard
Carter
Duhon/Nate
For them and
We get our pg who is actually signed to a reasonable contract and our precious cap space.

Just a thought......

Jameer has a contract that averages out to about $7 mil. Not too bad. Orlando liking him sucks though.

yeah, i could not believe they started him in the finals. they basically ended any shot they had at winning at all right there, i thought. SVG must be commited to him though.

Orlando was rumored to be interested in Nate. They could trade us part of the exception in a sign and trade for Nate. Then we can use that exception and combine it with a 2nd round pick to get back a 1st round pick from a team that is over the luxury tax threshold.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

i don't think that's how trade exemptions work. you have to get a player in return.

Toronto's Chris Bosh remains Miami's top target in 2010, and Wade -- who shares the same agent -- said, ``I think we are on his radar. But they've made moves and showed him they want to build around him. I think that means a lot to him. But I also think Miami would be attractive to him.''

A second credible person, who spent time with Bosh this offseason before Toronto got an oral commitment from Hedo Turkoglu, reiterated that Bosh indicated he would love to play for Miami but would never say that publicly and has a year to determine his plans.

The concern for the Heat is if: 1) Turkoglu's addition influences Bosh to re-sign next year; or 2) Toronto deals him before February's trade deadline to another appealing city, such as Dallas (where he was born) or Atlanta (where he attended college). Remember, the team re-signing Bosh can pay him $30 million more than others. Toronto is not trading Bosh this summer.

So does Wade have a good feeling that Pat Riley will make the Heat championship caliber, or is he uncertain? ``I've got a good feeling that he wants to. I know Pat is a winner. But we have to do it. That's it. There are a lot of teams that want to, and they haven't done it.''

• Though Michael Beasley is working to develop small forward skills, Wade believes it will be ''tough'' for Beasley to play a lot there: ``I don't want to question his ability, but he will have to work his tail off if he wants to do it. He can score at any position. But it's defense. You've got guys at the [small forward] position that are super quick. Beasley is slow-footed.''

Alonzo Mourning, soon to become the Heat's vice president/player development, said at small forward, defense hinges ``on technique, on speed. You've got to move your feet, get in position. Based on what we've seen of Michael last year, he doesn't have those capabilities. He might develop them [but] I think he's a power forward. He has to develop size and toughness to endure the physicality. I'm not saying he cannot [play small forward], but for longer spurts, it's going to be difficult to guard threes.''

• Wade said he tried to recruit only one free agent -- Turkoglu -- this summer: ``I knew it would be hard to get him because . . . we don't have any money for him. That's one player I love.''

Man, Wade is taking a poor man Kobe's approach. Good for him. LOL describing Beasley's game. "slow-footed"

wade is 27 and has taken a pounding. dude is always hurt. his prime years may be alot shorter than others. riley's haste for 2010 may have cost wade 2 of his prime seasons. so he's speaking up.

I dunno but I don't care about the rumblings of other teams. I hate reading their quotes. Everyone wantrs to be a GM. Back in the day I don't remember all this jargon back and forth. Guys just played. A guy like mitch richmond just took his obsurity like a man and never cried about needing help or forcing a trade.

Trade exception and a late no.1 is probably even worse than Blake and Outlaw. Too bad Orlando would have nothing else to throw in but the rights to Fran Vazquez

Good thought. David Lee+Jefferies for the trade exception, Orlando's first rounder and the rights to Fran Vazquez.

had a change of heart?

No. Didn't realize the trade exception would be that big. IF you could dump Jefferies contract it makes it a lot more attractive.
Orlando got a $10M trade exception in the Hedo s&t with Toronto...
