Stop with the Lee is a sixth man. 6th men rarely stay sixth men and even really good bench players in this league aren't capable of 16/12 on 54% shooting.

Lee would basically start on 25-30 teams- he is gonna make 7-8 mil a year. The question is whether the money is out there this year that is gonna make the Knicks wary to match. I don't think it is.

You're right:
The right to match any offer while he spends his valuable prime years in Greece
PLUS
two quarters
equals
two gumballs.

Didn't I just post in this thread? Ugh...

We offered Lee 4y/32M and either take it or go sign an offer sheet somewhere.

A team source claims the Knicks will offer Lee a four-year deal worth $32 million, which is below his asking price of $10 million per season. The Knicks have the right to match any offer given to Lee, as well as Robinson, but the club wants to remain fiscally responsible as it pertains to the summer of 2010.

If this is true--it's a smart offer and a reasonable one. It certainly might appear to be a deterrent to other teams hoping to sign Lee and also a sign that David Lee might just be a Knick after all. I don't see the Knicks not matching an offer of 5 yeasr 45mm--if you are willing to go 4-32 its very likely that you will go 5 45. So if a team really wanst David Lee it will cost them a very fair asset--as in first round picks or paying him in the 10-11mm$ range per year.

4 years does seem odd and at 32M what would that be? Starting at 6.75 or so? Ending around 9.75?

I know the 6yr/42M was just a thought based on Donnie's "7M" comment.

Yet this (4-32) seems like it might be the legit offer.

Meanwhile.... 2005 kiddo #2:

A Knicks executive said on Tuesday that he would be "shocked" if Nate Robinson remained with the team this summer.

The executive told Andrew Marchand of 1050 ESPN New York of his belief.

The Knicks drafted Toney Douglas last week, a score-first point guard like Robinson. The unnamed executive also pointed out that coach Mike D'Antoni prefers a small rotation, which would have to be stretched if both Douglas and Robinson are going to play.

Not cool. Donnie's got some media moles?
