If this is all true then he has a serious personality issue. Far worse than Francis or Marbury. Francis didn't even carry on like this and Marbury went to Minny even though everyone knew he wanted to go NY. What's the difference here? Where is the criticism? oh yeah.

The difference is his little diva act might actually land him in NY and NY fans want the same thing. I think most Minny fans would share your sentiments. As a Knicks fan, I'm happy to see top prospects declaring their interest in being here.

Eli Manning pulled the same ish on the Chargers and, as a Giants fan, I couldn't care less. I'm just happy we got him. Same would go for Rubio.

personally i could care less if any player pulled this diva act with any team... this is their life they're deciding on afterall & they can do with it as they see fit to create the best situation for themselves & their families... why some fans have a problem w/that is beyond me... if he didn't want to play in NY even, i'd say to hell with him & move on... Rubio isn't the only talented player in this draft... OKL was stupid not to take him at #3 IMO cuz even tho he didn't wanna play for them they coulda just played the game & held him as a bargaining asset to get the player(s) or assets they wanted... MIN has the ability to do the same here now that they have his draft rights... players play the game of million dollar chicken & so do sports franchises all the time... it's just business.

I agree but if Khan chooses to do nothing and let him rot in Europe then that is good business too. Those draft rights aren't going nowhere and he has the luxury of having another talented point guard to play on day 1. From what I understand and from what everyone was complaining about just a few weeks ago, is that he doesn't make much money on his Euro contract. The original reason for the lawsuit. Who knows.

wrong.

Why is it wrong. The idea behind the lawsuit was to forced buyout negogiations. He wasn't making enough to just pay it out right. His pay scale wasn't on the same level of the buyout. There go, he wasn't making enough money accordingly. Notice I didn't say the grounds for his lawsuit at no time.

Rubio has challenged the 4.75 million Euro (approximately $6.6 million) buyout, which climbs to 5.75 million Euros after June 30. Rubio made 70,000 Euros last season (about $97,000) and is scheduled to make 125,000 Euros next season (about $175,000). Rubio's father Esteban told ESPN's Chad Nielsen on Monday that the buyout is disproportionate to his salary.

lol, disproportionate buyout and suing because you aren't making enough are 2 different things.

And I am glad you have finally caught up to why Rubio and company sued his team, not because you was a delusional person or whatever you first pounced on.

i dunno what to believe at this point... just going off a blind hunch of mine is all... i just don't see any other logical explanation for why MIN would take Rubio & Flynn w/back to back picks... the Knicks were not interested in Flynn from what Donnie was saying after the draft... Rubio's buyout issues, his desire to play in NY, MDA & Walsh's hardons for Rubio, the Donnie & Kahn connection... just seems to all fit so nice & tidy, doesn't it?

If you believe Khan, he said he is willing to wait out the contract. Like I said the Blazers held on to Sarbonis' draft rights for a decade. So who knows.

big difference between pick #5 and the 30 or whatever Sabonis' was.

I don't believe Khan.

Disproportionate buyout is the same as saying I don't make enough to pay for my exit clause. There go, I do not make enough.

I still think it shows a character flaw to bring about a lawsuit without merit. He signed the agreement with his parents. The buyout was not hidden to my knowledge. He and his parents had knowledge of the conditions of the contract and still signed without duress. Whatever his goals behind the lawsuit, to bring it forth, shows he was entering a contract in bad faith since to my knowledge, his team has not breach the contract. But you can believe what you may.

Martin, the guy was trying to kill himself just to move up to get a chance to draft the guy. Maybe he hopes the young man will change his mind. Yao stuck his nose up at Houston (with good cause because that city stinks) but had a change of mind after he visited with city and team officials. Maybe Rubio spends some time at Mall of America and a night on town with Prince and may have a different attitude. Maybe it is too soon to give up hope for T-Wolves.

Word is that Kahn thought Rubio would be off board and Evans and Flynn would be picks or perhaps Harden and Flynn. Don't think they moved up to draft Rubio.

Rubio and family live in Barcelona, which is like asking a Manhattan lifer to switch to downtown Wolves territory, not sure of that happening without a LOT of consideration. And I think because of buyout, he would earn the same amount of contract dollars in Minn as he would in Barcelona, so why bother? And he wouldn't have to deal with the dumbest idea of starting two ball-happy PGs in the same backcourt. And I gotta guess the endorsement deals are more suitable to him in Europe than in Minn.

Cablevison is going to use Rubio to sell Optimum to the Spanish masses in NY. The endorsement deal is worth the buyout.

a lot of forces at work that heavily favor Rubio coming to NY or a big market and not staying with his current team.

Shouldn't you sticky this topic. I figure until Rubio is officially a Knick there will be so many threads started on Ricky Rubio.

I was just going on Rubio's word that a buyout wasn't issue no matter where he goes but I guess he still has issues no matter where he goes.

Jordi Villacampa (Joventut GM) express his discontent to Rubio's intention to sue Joventut over his contract. Villacampa says: "Joventut is a club based on promoting junior players and we wouldn't be able to exist if we didn't protect the kids with these types of contracts. We have to fight for the club's interests and keeping our philosophy". "Rubio signed that contract convinced, it's not like we put a gun to his head. We gave him the choice to play in the ACB, to grow as a player, to play in the Olympics, all this he did with Joventut. His salary has tripled this season, from 70K€ to 200K€. He has a right to sue us, of course, but ethically it is not right. Morally, it's not right that he only cares about his personal interests. Maybe I leave this year, maybe not, maybe I go to Memphis or New York, etc... He is not taking into account what has been signed, and if he doesn't like it, he sues."
Comparing to the Rudy situation, he says: "We would be in favor of negotiating his buyout next year (2010), but the lawsuit changes things. Rudy choosed correctly, he was one more year with us and then left for the NBA. Ricky was offered the same contract and the same exit as Rudy and said no. We offered to lower his buyout to 3M€ and he said no. Negotiating means giving something in exchange, and if Ricky leaves, he's not giving anything."

How about this offer to Minnesota

2 Number 1 picks restricted to 5 in 2012 and 8 in 2014 + Denvers 2010 pick
Mobley's contract for Etan Thomas and Mark Madsen or whatever shtty contracts they dont want
and 3mm in cash

That gives them two future number 1 picks a number 2 pick and a savings of 7.35mm $ in contracts this year and an additional 3mm in cash. I think thats a good value offer and would save face with the owner and the fans

Doesn't that seem like a lot for a player who has not proved a thing and you yourself have doubted?

Im just thinking of ways to acquire him[with the thought process that the Knicks are high on him] without altering our existing line up. Personally I think that if we spend the MLE on Ramon Sessions that would be enough
