another first round pick means guaranteed money for 2010. it may only be $700-800g's but it's still guaranteed and the cap is also going to come down. this may mean nate will be let go for nothing.

dont agree. If Nate could have gotten you an expiring and dumping JJ last year, why wouldn't he get the same this year?

Not a big deal at all. Trust me. Add as many talented young players as you can now and cut cap in other ways. Never at the expense of adding cheap young talent.

If someone wants Nate we will do a sign and trade and get something for him. We won't necessarily keep him.

I love this thread. Only place in the world where acquiring a draft pick can be turned into a negative thing.

I can see it now

Dude, Donny just traded Larry Hughes and Cuttino Mobley for Lebron!!! You know Lebron is going to get injured and we gave up 2 shooting gards to get him????? Who's going to back him up, Nate???? Nate is going to be gone because Donnie was too stupid to sign him early and now we are going to lose him for nothing. Plus Wilson can't play the 2 because he just had surgery and his career is over most likely. If Donnie was smart he would have demanded a second round pick and then drafted a 2 guard. So now, stupid Donnie trades for Lebron and now we are going to be stuck with Q playing the 2 again. I hate being a Knick fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a dumb move by the Knicks. Terrible draft and you have to pay a person for 3 years when you could have boought Portlans 2nd round picks and only guaranteed a year and get the same type of player. This draft is terrible trade down

That was my concern as well when the trade deadline past. The Knicks aren't in control of the situation. They have to get Lee and/or Nate to agree to a reasonable deal and accept that they want to move them to a location where they can get back desirable assets. Too much variables in those equations for two guys in the same summer. I got a feeling that Wallace will throw serious money at Lee to force the Knicks hands. I don't think you can move a bad contract with Nate and still expect a team to give him what he would be looking for either. That 28th pick could soften the blow of having to let one of those guys just walk away.

Gibson's my guy there as well... Get the most out of this 8th pick - whether it's using the pick or trading it, get Gibson at 28, acquire another high to mid 2nd rounder and bring in Jack McClinton (who they like anyway) and bring in some good talent for the summer league like an AD Vassallo from VA Tech if he goes undrafted. Of course I'd want more than this but I'd be OK with that haul.

Derozan up top - Beaubois at the bottom?

Trading the #8 for 2 picks next year would be a logical way to go, but you'd be taking a dump on the fans for this season.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What do ya'll think about UNC Danny Green for the 28? Seems like the type of player Pringles will be all over.

...also, guys in the early 2nd round are getting 1st round like contracts. 2 years guaranteed with team options in 3 and 4.

Is it really 2 years guaranteed for 2nd round picks? I know they put this in for what Arenas did but I thought it was only one year guaranteed with team options for the next 3 years.
