Yep - you are correct. What they are doing by Sept 30 is
Ariad Pharmaceuticals (ARIA)
The folks at ARIA are scheduled to release the first interim analysis from a Phase 3 study of their cancer drug ridaforolimus (rida) on or before September 30. Rida is indicated for rare soft tissue and bone sarcomas. The company expects to provide the results from a second interim analysis in Q1 2010 or no later than March 31, 2010. With positive results from the second interim analysis, the company will file an NDA requesting early approval for the drug. If granted priority review from regulators, then rida could be approved as early as Q4 2010.

Like ALTH’s drug PTX, ARIA’s rida is also an orphan drug. Unlike ALTH, however, ARIA has a collaboration agreement with Merck (MRK), which is valued at or near $1 billion.

I'm guessing its in anticipation of the 510k filing announcements and the impending fda approval. This is a good product, drug-free pain relief. They are already on the market in europe and canada but awaiting the fda in the US. Next month a study will come out comparing the effectiveness of this product compared to tylenol. This company is full of good PR.

investors were looking for PR's last weekend spiking biel. then when they didn't, they sold off. biel is now back in the 8 cent range and may fall further until they release a fda approval or something.

yup, there was resistence at .07 for a little while, but that seems to have improved to the .08s which is fine by me. Within the next month there should be 510k filings, study comparison to tylenol, and fda approval.

pattern continues - buy on rumor, sell on news. until they get FDA clearance, expect nothing to happen with biel. this is 100% speculation at this point. they have a ton of shares out there with a low PPS. technical analysis says it's very tough to get this to $1. it needs FDA clearance, then possible buyout by a big pharma firm like JnJ. it's a good product tho but it looks like day traders will be using it like a whore until clearance.

(disclaimer: i've read stocks for dummies so that's the extent of my knowledge in the investing world)
