my bad on getting the conference wrong for DD... the point is the same tho, he was playing in a much tougher conference... i dunno what u see in Curry that makes u think he's got 25/8 potential... that's pretty insane, we're talking about AI / D Wade type production there dude... let's be real here... he's not that level of a prospect.

i obviously hope we win the #1 pick and get griffin. if that can't happen, top 3 to get rubio.

if the knicks stay as is, i'd like curry, tyreke evans, derozan, even jonny showtime flynn. i think this team needs to pick the guy who will best fit into d'antoni''s system and fit in with lebron, since they obviously are going to be selling him this in a year.

why isn't he "that level of a prospect"? he has prototypical point guard size (if you say "he's not a true point" i'm going to reply "derrick rose"), he dominated teams in college from all different conferences with teammates who probably won't even play professionally in europe, and his dad was an nba player.

Derek Rose? are u kidding me dude? that guy has elite level quickness, handle & athletic ability... Curry has none of the 3 & u think he's on the same level as a #1 overall pick? 25 & 8 numbers are sick production man, u're talking about the best of the best in the NBA... if Curry's got that kind of upside then why isn't he being hailed as the next great prospect over guys like Griffin or at the very least Rubio? i'll tell u why, it's because he's undersized, not especially physically gifted, & not especially great at anything other than shooting ability... therefore he projects pretty much as an undersized SG, not as a PG in the NBA... he's gonna have problems translating his game at this level against MUCH bigger, stronger & quicker competition than he played against in college... i wouldn't care if his dad was an NBA Hall of Famer, this kid has limited upside in the NBA if u ask me... 17 & 6 u expect out of him as a rook, i would be surprised if he maxed out at those numbers in his entire career.

my point was that everybody and their mother last year was saying "d-rose isn't a point guard and he's too small to play shooting guard" and lo and behold he played point guard this yr. curry played point guard all year in college, and will play point in the nba. he isn't an undersized 2 unless they play him there (which, once again, they won't, since he's a point guard), so constantly chirping about his being undersized is worthless.

If i had to look at what a guy brings to the table versus what I believe the Knicks want--I would almost lock Stephon Curry as our pick. He's a guy who makes plays who has a keen shot rebounds is a good passer and looks like he can play 1 guard. When I am watching the NBA right now it really looks like smaller quick guards are having a field day--guys like Aaron Brooks Tony Parker Rajon Rondo--they are super quick players[not big by any stretch] but it seems the game of basketball is almost made now for a quick guard. IF the Knicks think that Curry can put on size like Chris Paul[who is noticeably thicker than when he played at WF] then you might have somewhat of a comparison although I think Chris Paul is a superior ballhandler and much more of a 1 guard.
There is risk with Curry--I think that they have to do all they can to get some of the guards together and let them go at each other. I remember reading someone saying that Curry would take Jeff Teague apart and personally I dont think he can do it. But lets see the Knicks bring in everyone get them all together and go at each other and see what is what

i'm not just chirping about him being undersized... it's his overall limitations in his game that makes me think he won't be a star player at the NBA level... if u disagree that's ur prerogative but i'm telling u right now that IMO 25 & 8 upside is nowhere near where Curry will ever top out at in the NBA... that's better than Tony Parker numbers bro... u gotta put it into perspective.

i would love to see Curry go up against Jennings & Rubio to see if he can stack up to those guys as a PG & i want it to be more than just a shooting/scoring contest... that would probably help me to come around on him if he had a very favorable showing... if it came down to Curry or Teague i have no problem taking Curry, but i don't wanna give up a chance to take Derozan or Jennings who IMHO have higher upside potential... that's just how i look at it & i could be dead wrong, Curry could be better than both those guys, but i'm not letting higher upside potential guys get by us where we're picking if i'm the GM.

Curry's potential upside is Chris Paul with downside of a guy who isnt an NBA starter and only a fringe back up. That's a BIG gap. That being said we need to do huge due diligence before we consider the pick. I would not want him to be dominated by players I listed above--I would want to see HIM dominating them. Having Stephon Curry come in and shoot unobstructed 3s isnt going to help the kNicks gather the information they need--they need to put him up against the Tyreke Evans--Teague's Flynn's and see what transpires.

Like I said--no one will be upset with taking Curry--I read realgm where some people are freaking--but that's not the case--this kid is one of the best play making guards in the draft--what I need to see his how his physicality ball handling skills defense and athletic ability translate against other top notch guys. You want him to be the guy who is the dominater and you don't want to see him being overwhelmed. He would be the most advanced of the group in terms of experience.

Curry doesn't have Paul's speed. Not one bit. Anyone making that comparison is crazy. I refuse to listen anyone that gets on Pat Riley for selecting Dwayne Wade over Macieji Lampe. I don't know how Riley keeps a straight face when they are both in the same room.

Curry's game and physical makeup is very similar is very similar to Luther Head. Why doesn't anyone dare make that comparison?

you can speak for yourself on this one, cuz i for one will be pretty upset if the Knicks pass up on guys like Derozan & Jennings to take Curry w/the #8 pick in the lottery... that's just my personal preference & i have a hard time consolidating any justifications on picking a guy w/as many physical limitations as Curry does that high... again, if we were talking about a guy w/AI like quickness, or D Wade like athleticism, or if the Knicks are trading down & in the process trying to maximize value out of the pick, it may be a different story for me, but straight up i think we HAVE to take the guy w/the most upside potential to be a star player in the NBA.

I look at Chris Paul as a guy who has a tremendous IQ who plays to his own pace. He certainly isnt as fast as he was at WF but he is 5 times more physical--and I think that is Curry's upside. A very smart player who can play at his own pace with the ability to score 20 points dish 10 dimes and grab 5 rebounds. I think you have a very fair argument on what he might be if he isnt capable of hitting his upside because of physical limitations. Curry's upside is much higher than Luther head. If I put LH on Davidson he may not have made the NBA. I don't think anyone can dispute what Curry has achieved on that level on that team. Now is he going to get bigger and stronger and will explosion come along with the extra strength. Will he be able to handle the rock like a Chris Paul--to me questions like ball handling strength and what are his physical parameters? I don't know how anyone can watch Curry and not see his upside as a 1 in the NBA--but at the same time he has question marks on the downside. Thats why hes going 7-8 instead of 2-3.

Luther Head had a good college career and played in a real major conference that went to the tournament as well. Let's really be honest here. If I took away Stephen last name and told you he was a son of a postal worker, everyone would say he had a nice tournament run one year and maybe worth a look at in the end 2nd round the same year he had that run. Nobody would be thinking 1st round forget about any lottery chatter.

I think you are selling Curry's effort short here. what he did in the NCAA's last year with DAvidson was remarkable. You do understand he played at Davidson, and his teamates consisted of guys who probably would have a hard time beating a team of UK posters in a pick up game........( ok, I am exagerrating a bit, but you get the point).... Steph curry reminds me of a smaller version of Kevin martin, except curry can handle the ball.. guys like that are extrememly hard to guard and their shooting ability, along with their ability to move without the ball really changes the game..

I'm sorry tkf but I seen this scene before. Whether it is Luther Head, Eddie House, or whoever. A small, non-athlethic, sharp shooting guard who dominates the ball in college hoping to fool NBA scouts and GMs that they can play point in the league based on assist numbers that they earned primarily from passing out of double teams and not setting up teammates. This guy isn't a point guard and doesn't have the mentality of one.

Believe me I would take Derozan in two seconds and Evans in 2.1. I would take Derozan over anyone except Griffin. All he has to do is work on his ball handling and he is going top be nasty. Three point shooting is over rated ---remember MJ couldnt hit the side of a barn past 15 feet his first 6-7 years and he was pretty good. DEmar needs that dribble for slashing moves---with improved dribble and mid range game--hes going to be sick.

In terms of Curry I think this is the best system for him and he has a chance depending on some factors to be great in it. I can understand what the Knicks might think there and I wouldnt cry if they picked him in anyway.

did you see bobby knights video breaking down the passing ability of curry?

I see your point here to some degree, but luther head and House never created their own shots, even on the collegiate level. curry is just prolific, and he is special.. that game where he stood in the corner, double teamed while his teamates played 4 on 3 vs the other team, just shows how unselfish he is... Again, he really is so far from guys like head and house, they really have very little in common when you look at it...

Trying to keep expectations of Curry fair and balanced here --- one knock has been his play against higher level competition.

If you look at some of his stats against major Div 1 schools you will see a number of poor ((12-29 (OK St) or 9-27 (WV) and 5-26 vs (Purdue))) shooting performances....you will also see a large # of turnovers.

For example -- I believe much of the tape that Bobby Knight reviews in his assessment of Curry came in the West Virginia game (I may be mistaken not positive). If you look at the box score for that game Curry had 10 assists but 8 turnovers.

Curry thought he could end up here

Curry said his father and coach talked to every NBA team before he made his decision. "The highest I heard was No. 6. The lowest was 20," Curry said.

Curry said the Knicks were the team at No. 6 and Charlotte at No. 20. Interestingly, he'd probably rather go to New York than his hometown team, because he'd love to play in Madison Square Garden.

it's impossible for the Knicks to be picking 6th in this year's draft... either we get lucky & get into the top 3 or we'll be picking #8-10

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
