Has he been drafting impact players left and right in Indiana? I must have missed that one. He's a solid GM, but he's still got a lot to prove in NY.

The Rooster was a reach. Everyone said that at the time and still do. He showed signs that he could be a player. We'll see.

If it comes out that they ignored back problems then that's not going to go over well in the press.
who was the rooster a reach over?

Where is the guy with star qualities we passed over?
[/quote]

Come on man. I didn't like Lopez before the draft either, but he's clearly better at this point. McGee, Gordon, Thompson, Randolph...

The Rooster can come back next year and have an impact, but its a questionable selection if we're being kind.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

draft is a crapshoot. should've traded the pick. it's now a wasted asset b/c you can't trade gallo.
we should have traded Nate, Chandler or whoever else to trade up to get Mayo. I think thats the star we might have missed on. Once Westbrook was off the board we should have just gone with something else.

Gallo wouldnt be the first rookie to have a crap first season and become a good pro. Not likely here because this franchise is cursed and whatever we do this draft will backfire. Of that I am pretty sure.

there's a difference between having rookie struggles and being shut down b/c of a bad back. gallo is a unique case. can't remember another player that had this before as a young guy. mostly knee and ankles, but not back.

Dude's a 45.6% shooter against 2nd level competition and has struggled against the big programs.

Warren and Derozan both shoot better against better competition in their freshman years if you're looking for shooting guards.

We've discussed a dozen or so PG's in this draft if you're looking for that.
please....

Name me one player in college basketball that draws more attention from opposing defenses than Curry. you cant find one. Thats what makes his 28ppg so impressive. Also he takes 10 3's a game and hits about 40% of those. He's just so much better than everyone on his team that he's got to take that many shots and every defense that Davidson plays against is focused on one thing: how to defend Curry.

Brook Lopez had a terrible shooting % and everyone said to take him.

Curry = Jeff Horneck. The guy is going to be a terrific NBA player.

Exactly fish. Plus he is an unselfish player. remember that game where they doubled him all game, so he stood in the corner , away from the ball, and didn't shoot as his team basically played 4 against 3? how many big time scorers would make that sacrafice?

The kid is a heck of a player and I can see the same thing on the NBA level...
Curry is a sure thing. Its got nothing to do with stats. Stats are great for guys on the internet that want to argue this guy is better than that. There are bigger, stronger, faster more explosive players in this draft. Maybe even some that have better numbers. There isnt one that understands basketball better than Curry. Curry probably has a higher BB IQ than anyone coming out. Curry's shot, and his ability to get that shot off from anywhere at anytime and incredibly quickly will make him an instant weapon. He's great away from the ball like Reggie Miller was. Anyone defending him will be chasing him around all night because if they dont he will drop 40 on them without thinking. His ability to catch and shoot is that good.

Will he be a star PG? Will be be a great bench scorer? I dont know. He will be a good NBA player. How good time will tell.

The comparisons to guys like JJ Reddick tells me people dont watch games or dont understand what they are watching. This isnt a system guy playing for a loaded team thats scored a bunch of points. If Curry played on Duke or NC he would have 8 assists a game and shoot 55%. He's not surrounded by that kind of talent.

Derozen is a prospect not a player. Derozen might be a star. He might be the next Quentel Woods. Who knows.

I agree, and his handle is pretty good, I would say better than duhon's... In the NBA, a decent handle, quick release, a good first step and good shooting touch is all you need to score points. Curry has all of these things and his shot can be lethal. As you said, he can't be ignored and if you do, he will light it up. Very smart player, just gets it, and with the hands off policy in the NBA, this kid is going to be a tougher cover than most think....

This thread is exactly why I put out that idea about a prospect picker app for this site. Let everyone put down their top 20, 30, 40, whatever prospects and see how it pans out over a few seasons.

so far walsh has had one big shot in the draft and you can say he dropped the ball.

knicks should be buyers. should've been buyers last summer. and even more incentive to be buyers now. they can put together a 50 win team next season if they want.

If the Warriors dont want Monta Ellis or their giving him sht about his ankle-- I would be more than willing to give them full cap relief for him and a future 1 pick as long a we make 110% sure that his ankle is or can be 100% again. Monta Ellis is easily one of the most under rated great players and hes still 23 years old.

i'd much rather sign Nate to a MLE extension & keep our pick than take on Ellis & the type of contract he's got.

i think the knicks should trade the pick if it's not top 3 or 4. they will mess it up like they always have.

Trade for who? You said the Knicks need a star player. Who is the star player coming here for pick number 12?

Ive watched Curry all year. I like Curry but unless I was picking him up around 15-20 I think I will pass. I really like that Dereozan kid. Yes we need a PG and a C but more so we need an identity and a player we can build around and with. I like players with unusual physical talent. When I saw Derozan coming off the wing and dunking against UCLA driving into the middle of the lane against asu and his shot looked 100 times better with good form against both--I thought he reminded me of Dwyane Wade. He rebounds like Wade with a little more weight lifting he will have a body like wade I think he's a tad taller than Wade and just as athletic if not more so. Other than Blake Griffin I dont see one athlete in this draft with star potential other than Derozan. I think Thabeet will be a lot better than some think he will be but not at these two players level. This is where projection comes into play. You look at what the player has accomplished in his freshmen year--how he advanced his game and how his physical talent will translate to NBA ball. You could easily find a PG late in the draft who is superior to other players picked before him. I think there is only one griffin and one Derozan in this draft. Hopefully the schmucks who run the Knicks see the same thing but I highly doubt it. They'll take what they believe is the most ready PG in favor of better talent.

Derozan will be off the board by the time we pick.......

Monta Ellis is actually a really good basketball player--and I mean really good. We will NOT get a better player than Monta Ellis is FA.

i agree that we won't get a better player in FA next season, but i don't sacrifice the 2010 plan to bring Ellis here... he's marginally better than Nate Robinson IMHO... definitely not worth almost twice as much.

i'd much rather trade Nate & the draft rights to whoever we pick for the rights to Derozan after the draft.

list them out man, its not certain at all that he'd be gone before us - if he is, then we're still getting a shot at someone good because that means Jennings, or Evans, or Warren are going to be there.

i think all these guys will be picked in the top 9 & we'll be picking around #10-12, so we'll probably have a good shot at Teague:

Griffin
Jennings
Derozan
Rubio
Hill
Harden
Thabeet
Warren
Clark
