In other words, if we want to move Jeffries (which has to be part of the deal then), the point is to get his $$$ off the books for 2010.

Trading for Salmons won't help us there, but he would be easier to move next year.

I don't know what the overall proposed deal is, but anything involving JJ and Salmons is good in my books, even at the cost of Nate.

First, Salmons is $1M less in the 2010 season than JJ. Second, he actually has value on the court - he shoots from downtown VERY well and defends 1-on-1 like a maniac.

i hear you martin.

i like salmons, and he gives us much more value, that's true.

but if we want to see if we can sign two superstars, it might not be so bad to grab some of their other young cheap players.

my idea for garcia might not work now because of his deal being bigger than i realized.

god, jeffries deal is ridiculous, btw.

Reports are Salmons and Miller To the Bulls for Nocioni, Gooden, Michael Ruffin (expiring worth $1.1 million) and Cedric Simmons ($1.7 million expiring). And there are indications that it's close to happening.

Most of Sactown fans agree, they want the Marbury deal or the Nate deal.

If they buy out Cassel, they still need to buy out one more player. It also doesn't help Sac cut payroll with Nocioni's contract expiring in 2013 at 8M+ per. It's a net loss of around <10M+>

Trading Marbury for Kenny Thomas and Brad Miller wouldn't be the end of the world for us.

Using the Isiah philosophy, we could try to get something good for Miller and Thomas next year since they will have good expirings.

However, I have a feeling Dolan is not going to let Donnie do that.

If we save them all that cash by trading them Marbs they absolutely need to send us a Jason Thompson/Spencer Hawes to make it worthwhile. Preferably Thompson.

It's over. Miller and Salmons are going to the Bulls for Gooden and Nocioni. We screwed this up.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Maybe we didn't. I agree it's a really bad deal for them. But just think about it. They got crap in return. Nocioni's deal runs longer than Jeffries. Salmons is the better player. WTF are they doing?

yeah, it's really not a good deal for them financially. it only makes sense if they like the players... i guess? it basically amounts to not having to pay Miller next year and that's it. we could've easily given them the same deal plus Nate Robinson. huh.

How can we not be involved in any deal where a team is looking to save financially and is only offering contracts that expire in 2010? Marbury should be a huge trade chip right now. It's such a big chip that they very possibly could rid themselves of Jeffries or Curry in the process.

Miller, Thomas and Moore for Marbury and Jeffries.

They save $20M next year and we get rid of Jeffries. Win-win.

This is a blown opportunity.

This smells funny. I think there is an anti-NY bias going on here. virtually any package we could have submitted to them would have been vastly superior to the one they got.

Some people would rather wreck their own franchise than give NY any kind of help. Trust, this happens.

Taking back Nocioni was a huge mistake. His contract and play suck. I think he is on the books until 2012. Knicks were offering almost an identical package. At least the Knicks didn't take on Chicago's trash this year.

The Bulls now have Rose, Gordon, Heinrich, Salmons, Sefolosha, Deng, Hughes at the 1, 2, 3 spots. And Salmons was complaining when he was not getting starter minutes in SacTown.

I know Hughes has been on the IR, but how the heck to the Bulls get minutes to all these guys?
