Aldridge/Bayless and either Sergio or their pick

for

Lee/Nate/Jefferies

I dont do that salary stuff so they can throw in somebody to make it work or whatever, but that's the kind of package I'm looking for.

Lee for Aldridge makes to much sense.

Why would they do this since they are 1 trade away from having Lee and Aldridge? Especially when you consider Oden isn't the most durable of bigs in the game.

There is only 2 ways that Portland can get Lee from us. They would have to either eat Curry's contract and still offer us a nice young piece. Or they would have to offer us Roy, Aldridge or Oden. There is a 3rd way but it would involve Portland somehow getting a top 5 lottery pick.

Lee, Curry, Jeffries for Aldridge and LaFrentz

I don't think we can give up both Curry/Jeffries in the same deal, you would have to replace Jeffries with Malik and I think they would do it.

Personally I'd go for the:
Lee/Curry/Malik(expiring)
for
LaFrentz(expiring)/Bayless/Outlaw type.

I cant give up Lee for mid-level prospects and expirings, even if it means getting rid of Curry. Lee is our best commodity right now. I would replace Lee with Nate in that deal since Nate is pretty much what Bayless aspires to be right now.

Thats what I was thinking...for both teams. Talent and salary, ext...It would be a good deal.

Lee would be huge in Portland, BTW.

Lee and Oden manning the front line is pretty scary sounding.

Hey Andrew I don't care!! He wasn't upthere when I put my post up. You could have sent me a note stating that or just pulled my statement down all together. I have a problem about how you handled it. Since I've been back on board I do my little posting and stay out of controversy. I feel that you handled this wrong and I have a right to my opinion.

Peace

Papabear,

What happened here has happened many times on this forum. You were not singled out. As someone else pointed out, the thread with the earliest date is kept and the older one is locked - even if there is a difference of a only a minute. That's the policy of the forum.

Even if a mistake was made and the wrong post was locked, ask yourself: does it really matter? If you want to discuss the topic, then discuss it and don't worry about who gets credit for starting it. Also, it is not reasonable to expect Andrew or Martin to email someone everytime something like this happens. Their policy is clear, they want to try to keep to one thread per topic.

It's just not a big deal and not worth creating a dramatic scene about.

I think a bear should have a thicker skin.

lol@ "I think a bear should have thicker skin" That was corny, but not too corny. I laughed.

Anyway, this damn papabear cat scares the hell out of me. Duke seems legitimately out of his mind. This whole locking of threads episode is hilarious. But its nervous laughter, tho.

how can you justify trading a 26 year old that's getting better for a player you have no idea about (draft pick)?

would you have traded lee for the #6 pick in last year's draft?

seriously, how can anyone justify trading Lee for OJ Mayo... good thing we dodged that bullet.

See I don't know if anyone is going to offer us high draft picks and salary space knowing that Lee will be a free agent next yr.

So its easier to say we should just trade Lee then for it to be done. You can bet teams are trying to low ball the Knicks because of the fear that Lee will resign with them.

Last yr Lee should have been given a contract extension, not only would he have been cheaper probably making 8mil. But we would be able to trade him at higher value because of his production and contract.

Walsh didn't know exactly what he had in Lee though. Im sure he was scared to resign him then have Lee, Randolph, Curry, Jefferies, Crawford as guys ruining his 2010 cap space plan. Last yr he probably wasn't sure if Lee was worth resigning or if Lee was trade bait. If Lee put up these #s last season then the decision would have been easier trading him would have been easier as well. Since Lee didn't have that great of a yr last yr. Walsh didn't know which way Lee would work out.

i agree, it's not a given that we can get a top 8 pick for Lee in any trade... all i'm saying is i hope Donnie is very seriously considering that option... if he finds a match there i think he shouldn't pass it up.

i agree w/that seb... i think Nate is a better player than Bayless & i would look to get more back in value for Lee... Outlaw doesn't excite me much, we have a talented SF already in Chandler who's putting up better numbers as it is.

It's about acquiring assets. We're not going to get a player already as good as Lee back in any trade because any team can just overpay him in the summer and Walsh won't match.

If we were to unload Curry's contract along with Lee and get back Bayless and Outlaw, you better damn well be happy about it, because those are 2 good assets to either spin somewhere else or build with.

This brings to mind that maybe it's a good think that Lee isn't making the all-star team, even though a lot of us believe he should. It certainly would up his stock further and in the midst of trying to resign him.
I'll never trust this' team again.

yeah, i was just talking about the general premise of trading a known quantity for an unknown lottery pick.
