"no-one is going to give up anything for Lee and N8 at this point."

Really? I'm pretty sure we could get a great deal for Lee at this point.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Really, is Lee going to give a team a push past the Lakers, Cavalier's or Celtic's. What are they going to give up for a 30 game rental that doesn't get them into the finals?? Certainly not young cheap talent and we're not taking on long term contracts or giving up 1st rd. draft picks. The only hope of trading Lee is if you can package him with Marbury or Rose but the +/- is going to be negative on salary on our end. Would you trade 20M+ in expiring salary for someone's 40M+ when you still have Curry and JJ2's 40M on the books? Just doesn't make any financial sense.

If that player comes off of the books before 20LEBRON... I mean 2010, then who cares?

Lee on the right team would certainly give a team a push. If you brought him off of the bench on the Spurs where he could be playing with Ginobli and Parker he would be money.

On the C's he would be money.

If the Blazers move Aldridge he would be money.

He would completely change the Bulls look if you traded him for Tyrus or Noah.

He could give the Pistons some juice to get back in the hunt.

He would be the glue to make Orlando a championship team with all the chuckers they have.

Looks like the Bulls and Blazers are more interested in Stoudemire. Orlando needs a PG, Nuggets would be a better trade partner than Knicks. Pistons don't look to be making any moves.

oopsa, sorry. Atkins was interested in going to Orlando, but he was traded to OKC. I think he's still on trade restriction.

One friggin' week away...

I'm losing confidence in Walsh.

I heard from a source close to Lee that he's freaking out about the deadline. I think he's got nothing to worry about because this GM seems to have no sack.

This GM has made more trades then you have taken dumps.

He has a big old sack and he will deal when he is ready.

Did he NOT have a sack when he moved Randolph and Crawford the same day?

Have we learned nothing from Isiah?

This is not Isiah Thomas. Walsh is not going to make trades just to make trades. I don't want a trade just so I can see a new player on the team or have something new to discuss. Better to be patient and see what is out there than rush into something.

Yes keep the same shtty players then watch Lee get a 75mm $ contract offer and sit back as all the major 2010 FA get moved to sign out for 6 year contracts. Were good enough as is. Danillo will save the day next year.

WTF are you talking about? Did you even read my post? So you indeed support the Isiah Thomas style of GM'ing, which is making trades just to make them.

You are the same dude who loved Eddy Curry. There goes your credibility sunshine.

Fact is I don't call 20 year olds busts in their rookie year. I don't judge them at all. Another fact is that I am not a psychic. You are trying to pass yourself as Ms.Cleo. I'm sorry there Briggsy but you aren't.

Making some stupid trade to "win now" again is the last thing we need. Why would you get disappointed in Walsh JohnWallace? Did you not get the memo about 2010? We could do nothing from till then and still be in a great position to sign a major free agent. Of course we wont do nothing and I don't want to sit back either. But who exactly do you think is trading for Curry or Jeffries? Other than those players(and Lee and Nate), there is nobody we really need to trade since they all expire by 2010.

nobody's looking for a trade to win now

people are looking for a trade so that we don't lose Lee, Nate and the expiring deals without getting anything in return or getting rid of Curry and Jeffries

You can still do a sign and trade in the summer. It's not the end of the world.

How much leverage do we have at the deadline?

Maybe we don't lose any leverage. I'd rather make the move now.

Honestly the best thing to me would be to toss the 2010 strategy and use our financial leverage to get the best players we can.

So why not just come and say you are impatient and want to make trades, ala Isiah Era? All that wheeling and dealing sure got us places, didn't it? Expirings brought back guys like Marbury, Crawford, Curry, Francis, and others. Not one superstar in that bunch and I can't remember any franchise-changing superstar being traded for a couple of expiring contracts and decent young players. KG went for Big Al, who is a superstar himself. Vince Carter wasn't the man anymore when he was dealt. Gasol is a great player but only elite next to Kobe. Why would I throw away the 2010 plan now? We are 1 year away. Next summer we will reach the famous year. Why be impatient and destroy that capspace to acquire guys who clearly will not be franchise players? We haven't been under the cap in 13 years. 14 in 2010. It's not a coincidence that we have sucked for the better part of those 13 years.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

There's a difference between bringing in guys that you are projecting to jump up several levels like Isiah did with Crawford, Marbs, JJ, JJ and Curry, and using our $ advantage at a time when the league was strong, and what I'm suggesting that Walsh does.

We almost have to use some kind of trade with whoever it takes to get rid of Curry or Jeffries so that we can resign Lee or Nate.

Goal has to be to keep two out of the three from Nate, Lee and Chandler while preserving the space for two Max players.

The other option would be to see if there are other Amare type salary dump scenarios out there where we could pull players for less than market value. Could we get Rip? Mike Miller? Harpring? Darko?

Baron Davis would be an Isiah move... Walsh won't do that... but I'm sure we could get him.

(Also, looking at the cap situations of some of the teams that aren't in the playoff hunt... wow... Indiana and Washington have terrible rosters)

i wouldn't go that far as to assume that much... from the complaining about what we got back in the Zach & Jamal trades i'd say there's people on this site who expect to get better in the here & now w/any trades we make & aren't willing to take back prospects, draft picks or future cap flexibility with a longer range vision in mind.
