I just don't know what to think of the Knicks. They won this game. Damn! They won! Well, it's apparent. Gallo wasn't any factor, but when he plays, we win.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Just past the halfway mark, and their already four games away from what they won all last year. I wonder if I should start making my 40 wins prediction again.

Naaaaa!
I'll never trust this' team again.

New Jersey is losing by about 14 right now, with 2 minutes to go. The Knicks will end up 1/2 game away from the 9th spot.

Lopez has 18 points in that game.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I watched 24 and followed the game via ESPN Gamecast. I will watch the Knicks in 60.

I saw Gallo tried to be assertive on 2 plays where he ended up in the same lane as DLee and Tiny Tim. They will learn their tendencies soon.

Missed just about all of the game. People who bash Nate for that slump need to pay attention. He's had a huge season besides that slump and he's no longer just a showboat player.

i was saying the same while Nate was going through the slump to a few guys around here who were really down on him... i still think he's trade bait tho.

I agree. The kid brings something to the game. Its really apparent when you see the game live.

N8 came up in our system and developed into a pretty good player and he ain't going nowhere. Watching these kid like Lee and Nate come up in our system and make the playoffs and a run for the championship like Walt Fraizer and Bill Bradley is what this game is all about.

I almost turned this game off a number of times. It was boring. Real boring. No matter the score. I guess I kinda woke up when Chandler remembered to be aggressive his once every week (whats up with that...another topic though). The fourth quarter was largely entertaining.

Given the circumstances the team is playing well but the past three games overall have been ... just ... boring. I don't know what it is. As a fan I'm happy with 2-1, yet, it just seems lackluster.

Maybe it's just the "too long of a season" syndrome.

Good to see Chandler break out of his slump if just for a game. I gotta say though when Tim Thomas is more aggressive than you then you REALLY have to pick it up.

Nate's back shooting wise - just wish he'd grow up soon with the boneheaded mistakes.

Harrington for all his chucking was the difference starting tonight - he scored when we needed it.

Jeffries and Q were just messes tonight as they are prone to be.

A win is a win and as a fan I will take it. This ragtag torn down roster is still fighting. As best they can given their individual deficiencies I suppose.

It's not boring... Defense is coming back to NY.

Those first three quarters had nothing to do with defense and everything to do with ineptitude on both team's parts. Fourth quarter the Knicks got going and the Rockets just ran out of gas given they played last night and are without Yao who always takes a big dump on us.

Let's face reality there.

A win is a win and we need wins but let's not falsely sugarcoat it....which would lead to unfounded expectations.

38.9%? Rockets are better that this.
No Yao and MG with Artest run cold... but they have to work on each shot and drive.
You cannot deny that we defending better lately. Enough to get a chance to win in every game.
This is a huge progress.

Yes, the Rockets are indeed better than that, but to put all reasoning on the Knicks defense is wrong. The Rockets were undermanned and played very tired basketball last night. They had no energy from the start.

The Knicks have played better defense for over four weeks now and if you go back you're still finding gems of games from opponents shooting 45-60% regularly against us.

You make it sound like our defense locked down the Houston offense last night. That really was not the case and I'd be inclined to temper the "huge progress" enthusiasm down to "encouraging signs" at best.

They're playing better defense but they are certainly not shutting anyone down.

January:

Rockets: 39%
Philly: 54%
Grizzlies: 39%
Suns: 47%
Bulls: 43%
Philly: 51%
Wizards: 47%

Hornets: 38%
Rockets: 43%
Mavs: 47%
Thunder: 53%
Celtics: 40%
Pacers: 45%

....Better defense than November? Sure. Shutting down teams? No. Shut down the Rockets with huge progress in defensive ability last night? Not realistic.

We are not going to shoot down anyone. This is not in the game plan.
Mike wants to keep energy high on offensive end; sometimes sacrificing defensive intensity.
And his type of defense is to playing passing lane, steels, team defense with the goal to generate as much fast break opportunities as possible. He is not a fan of one-on-one defense as it slowing the game down.
Also the players he is using are more offensive-minded.
I think the difference on defense lately was better execution and recognition by our players how to defend opponent player’s ant take their strong game away. Get on shooters and push them to drive and push post-up players out of the paint or deny them the ball.
To summarize - the coaching stuff and players are working hard to implement the system they want to play and it shows.

I wrote in my keys, that the rockets are just a boring team to play.. I hate that team..

Knicks playing with confidence, and the guys actually like each other..

Flaws and all, they are starting to resemble a "Team".

I'm with you, brother! It wasn't so long ago that every other trade scenario on this board was for Artest.
So glad that didn't happen. Y'all know who you are!

I admit I wanted Artest, but only to pair him with Marbury. I wanted to see if Isiah could somehow manage to put together a starting five of guys who were all certifiably insane. It had nothing to do with winning basketball games and everything to do with entertainment value.

Anybody notice that N8 had something like 5 rebounds in the last half of the 4th quarter?

I still think he's got the best quote of the year, when someone asked him about coming off the bench versus starting:
"I just love to play basketball."

How can you not like a runt who goes absolutely apesh--t over someone else's poster dunk?
