Cosmic, why does it have to be about being vindictive on Donnie's part? Again, I don't follow the logic. If I'm Donnie I'm paying him 20 plus million. It's coming out of my team's pocket anyway. So why would I pay him 20 plus million to play elsewhere? Why not pay him 20 plus million and try to trade him to get something out of it? If I'm paying 20 plus million why would I just give up on trying to get something out of it? Why is Marbury owed the chance to play somewhere else. He was the one that signed the contract.

You must be misinterpreting my point here. If we hold onto him only to waive him on March 2nd to punish him and prevent him from being able to play in the playoffs then we're being vindictive. That may please some fans, that may please Dolan who has been known to enjoy making people squirm, but the bottom line is we come off looking unprofessional. It would be foolish.

So either cut him loose after the trade deadline, as it would seem Walsh has still wanted to try to trade him, or you end these constant talks and send him home until the summer where his contract expires and he's free to do what he wants.

Well we will just have to see what Walsh does. I wouldn't put it past Dolan to be vindictive but at the same time I also understand Walsh's position. Walsh owes Marbs nothing but his paycheck. So I can completely understand the position of not releasing a player. Why pay a guy to play elsewhere. That's one of the hazards that players have to deal with when they sign these lucrative guarnateed contracts and then don't perform. Ultimately we all want to be done with him and move on, but I don't automatically say it's vindictive if they decide to hold on to the guy for the rest of the year.
