TMS: Rememember you always take the weather with you where ever you go!

Its not where you live but how you live.

Unless you are seeking a specific career, like me.

TMS is leaving LA, but me, I can't wait to get there if everything works out for me this year. Not every places have film industries, and certainly not where I'm from. I gotta move either to NY, LA or maybe somewhere in Europe. And hopefully it will happen this year.

I think most states have a small porn industry.

That industry is actually growing here, to my surprise.

Hey, the industry needs its first plot-driven porn movie, right?

move to the Valley in LA... porn capital of the world...

not that i've ever been there mind you... *cough*

Now that we have stated this, lets juts imagine for a crazy second that I wanted to do and work on legit films, where to go?

i would assume Hollywood is the place... or Burbank, there's a lot of movie studios out there also.

Good luck, TMS. So how different is the west coast from the east coast? Similar or vastly different? That was one thing I was considering at some point too, because there's more good software companies out west, but not sure if I'd ever want to move west. Not something I'm worried about for now because I'm pretty satisfied where I'm at, but good to know for reference.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

completely different... the weather, the people, the overall vibe... u don't get that hustling & bustling feeling u get when ur in the Big Apple... everything out here is real relaxed... the people can't drive for sh!t, which gets annoying too.

everyone is "it's all good"... but it's very hard to read people... they smile at you & give u the "oh heyyy! let's do lunch" kinda thing all the time... then u never hear from them again... haha.

& everything is all about image & looks out here... it's all about how beautiful & how glamorous you can make yourself out to appear, even if u don't got the money to support that kinda lifestyle... mad people driving around in leased out luxury cars they can't afford & rocking the crazy expensive name brand gear, meanwhile they're living in dumps... that fake crap seriously began to get on my nerves... people will openly judge you based on the car you drive, the clothes you wear, or the people you're hanging out with... if they don't consider your friends to be cool enough to socialize with themselves, then you're automatically a loser too, which is pretty sad... of course if you're hanging around w/the "In" crowd, then they will all wanna kiss your ass bigtime... that is as long as you're hanging around w/that crowd they wanna be seen with themselves... on the East coast people are just straight up with you... you know where you stand... if they don't like u they'll let u know... none of this p*ssy fake crap u get out here.

also the earthquakes are a bit unnerving... it's not so much that there's a big one all the time, but the little ones make u think about how bad it might be when the big one finally does hit, & it's only a matter of time til that happens... it also makes u queezy when u feel the floor moving around underneath u & the room starts to shake a little... weird feeling that i can only describe as sorta like when ur on the Staten Island Ferry & you hit the dock & everyone kinda shifts & loses their balance... u get that kinda weird feeling in your stomach... anyway i think i can deal w/the cold weather but at least i won't have to worry about the ground opening up & swallowing me in my sleep.

then of course there's the fact that i have to watch my Yankees & Knicks games off my slingplayer & not on HD, which just isn't the same... & i can't attend any of them either, which sucks bigtime... at least they broadcast most of the Giants games tho (since LA doesn't have a real football team).

overall if u do start thinking of moving out here, don't expect that whole "Hollywood" scene to be what it's cracked up to be... there's a lot of ugliness underneath all that glitz & glamor.

I never was a fan of that glamor scene. Then again, I never planned on moving to California.

i never was either... i figured it was mostly just in Hollywood that u would find that & i avoided hanging out there anyways... but it's prevalent all over LA, u can't escape it.

it's either really really ghetto or really really fake glitz wannabe ballers out here.

How's the Sunset strip though? Do you ever go there? Or is that just one big glam scene too?

i've been there a few times... there's some pretty cool rock bars & rave clubs out there, & the underground rockers & freaks are cool to chill with, but there's a lot of drugs that pervade that scene so i try to avoid it if i can.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying everyone i've met out here are purely like that... it's just a general feeling i get... it's like how people who visit NY think we're all rude & obnoxious, but that's just NY... there's cool down to earth people out here in LA too, but even amongst that crowd u can see some of the same type of stuff i'm talking about cuz it's just an inherent thing about the mentality out here even in small amounts.

My sister lives in California. She is pursuing an acting/dancing career and she is taking her first steps on it. Not easy to get work but when she does it helps her pay the ridiculously high rent.

Everybody who thinks film thinks in Hollywood, but I think its more like a "fastfood" for films. Most of the sh!tty, shallow and plot-less films come from Hollywood. NY is more of the "indie" filmmaking, but its tough to start in the big apple.

Shallow glamour scene, shallow films

well most of the big studios are in Hollywood & Burbank & a lot of the big budget films & TV shows are shot out here as well... in the end it's all about who you know & being in the right place at the right time i would guess if you're trying to make it in show business... there's a ton of talented people out there that just never get that big break because they're just not known or seen... if u got the money to hire the right agents & managers, i would guess ur chances are way better than if u're just some struggling no name w/no competent people handling your career.

Yeah, TJ isnt what it was a couple of years ago when I came down here in '06. Some of it has to do with the fact that I turned 21 in the interim, so it lost some of its appeal, but females havent been going down there since the rash of kidnappings last year and all the instability that followed. Personally, a friend of mine got his straight ass whupped, and had to have plastic surgery so our little circle is hesitant to make that move across the border.

Rosarito still cracks sometimes, but people are trying to go down there anymore.
