first season in Phoenix MDA came on & they struggled... then they acquired some good players & they took off from there... i don't expect anything different here... to expect a head coach to come in & make some kinda difference w/this current collection of players is unreasonable... u can bring Red Auerbach here to coach these guys & they still wouldn't make the playoffs.

again, i haven't watched a ton of games but there has been a few games lately where effort has been questioned. and haven't seen anything new from a strategy standpoint in terms of how the team performs. they're not running new plays or anything like that. this is the roster this year...shouldn't mda at this point alter his coaching just a bit to work with what he has? i think he knows already who he likes and who he doesn't. so work with what you have.

Maybe he's more interested in losing games?

lately the team's effort level has definitely tapered off, i'm not debating that... but whatever the case may be, i'm not gonna sit here & say MDA's a bad coach because he can't get Isiah Thomas' collection of losers to play hard every game... Al Harrington is really the only Walsh player that has been added to this roster that is playing a significant role... everyone else is pretty much the same crap that won 20-something wins in 2 of the past 3 seasons, MINUS our best low post scorer/rebounder & best perimeter scorer... how does anyone expect much better results just because MDA & Walsh said they thought those trades actually improved the Knicks at the time they were made? did anyone expect those guys to admit that they were just dumping salary for 2010 & that this season was secondary to the grand scheme of their longterm vision?

Another horrible performance by the team under coach Pringles.

He's not that good guys sorry. He needs an Elite squad to be an Elite coach like any other average coach.

can u name me 1 head coach in the NBA that doesn't need an elite squad to be an elite coach? what has Phil Jackson ever proven w/o the best players on his teams? Pat Riley looked pretty awful as a coach last year w/o a healthy D Wade... Pop has Duncan, Parker & Ginobili on his teams in SA... what does MDA have to work with? come on, stop looking at the coach & start realizing that this roster won't win u many games no matter who's coaching them.

How are the Rockets working us with Hayes, Wafer, Landry, Brooks, Barry? Our coach said the trades made the team better. So was he lying? If he was then can we take him for his word on other things?

What player or players is thriving under our coach?

When we were winning earlier in the season he was getting all the credit for what looked like a turnaround. Now that we're losing he's absolved from blame?

Doesn't make since.

He was brought here to be a difference maker. Right now he's failing. If it isn't his fault then our GM deserves blame.

Well don't tell the Knick nation

Let the Knick nation know you'll do the best job you can, to produce the best results possible and hope it results in a post season appearance. Tell us you'll try and develop the young players because they haven't been given large roles and they need to show their full abilities every night. Tell us defense will be a focal part of what we do. Tell us we'll play hard every night and for each other.

He doesn't have to tell us it's all about 2010. He doesn't have to tell us we're rebuilding.

Just don't give Lip Service and Feel Good Sound Bites when nothing has really got under way and you don't truly know what you have. One thing we know better than any new coach and that's how this team is. So we'll detect BS right from the get go.

MDA coulda said we were gonna win the championship this year, would u have believed him? what difference does it make what he says? as a head coach how do u expect him to get his guys not to give up on the season before it even started if he came in here & said "yeah, we don't expect to make the playoffs this year"... i just don't get how anyone could have expected much different than what we've seen this year, especially after those salary dump trades where we pawned off 2 of our best players for cap flexibility.

DJ. There's not much he can do. He's at the least, been preaching defense to the media more than any other thing, so I'm sure, like LB, he's been begging the team to play some. We're severely undersized. Our smartest two players are Duhon and Lee, and they aren't exactly go to players (Although they are playing great at other aspects) and our only players with scorers mentalities are chucking the ball up, with regard of nothing, and they are slumping BADLY.

What kind of coaching adjustment could you do that would help this team, if NOBODY is hitting shots and we have no defensive presence? LB couldn't do it. Lenny couldn't. Neither could Chaney. As I believe fishmike said years ago: "Wake up and smell the roster."

all i'm saying is run a different play. no back cut type plays. no high low with lee + harrington. nothing. it's let duhon do what he can, and if he can't create then pass it around the perimeter and whoever wants to shoot will shoot it. do they run screens for nate to come of picks to shoot a jumper? something different. they've lost 10 of 12. they'd be lucky to break 30 wins this year.

There you go turning it into "what was he supposed to say". I just said he didn't have to say that. He could have said what I stated and that would have been fine and sufficient. It's not like saying "We're Making The Playoffs" has produced desired results. None of these players will be around 2yrs from now anyway.

The trades were a push but I didn't expect a 13-23(36%) record on the season. Even after the trades I expected the team to win about 35gms or be noticeably better than the 2006-2007 season team which won 33gms(40%).

We're back to where we were. No accountability. Fans protecting the coach and gm and fans being a little disappointed in them, along with feeling the roster is inadequate. I am patient enough to rebuild, do it without the lip service and make sure the team plays hard every night and unselfishly.

Yep we lose the exact same way almost every game because we do the exact same thing offensively and defensively. You don't see down screens, back screens, ball screens, elbow catch shoot, back doors. On defense we let the Von Wafer of the worlds attack the rim Kobe style. Nothing different it's just as you stated.

i agree w/all of that & i still expect this team to win around 35 games or so... maybe a little less now but i realize this team has always been a bad team & didn't expect much different this year w/MDA or w/o... it seems to me a lot of you did expect him to be a difference maker, & i just don't see how that was a reasonable thing to expect considering all the head coaches we've been through the past decade w/o any different results... lip service or not it doesn't change any of those expectations in my eyes.

TMS I missed the part when Isiah acquired Duhon to run point too, I thought Marbury was his problem. STOP THE MADNESS. Now it is Isiah's fault still? Walsh makes two major trades to move out major acquisitions from Isiah in Z Bo and Crawford and now Harrington and Tim Thomas and the Mobley's heart issue is Isiah's fault too. I thought Walsh sent Isiah to scout Gallinari, I thought people on this board felt very comfortable in the fact that Walsh was in charge. Six months later and losing continues, now Isiah is still calling the shots. When D'Antoni was winning some games in November, people wanted to nominate him for Coach of the Year and talk about how the atmosphere changed under him. Now they are losing and it's Isiah's team. Good Grief.

Jesus H Christ.

This is a 23 win team. A 23 win team which traded its "scorers" (I hated both players) for cap space. What exactly do people expect? I mean Walsh was hired and specifically said don't expect big things and it's like he said the opposite. It's like he came out and said we're going to the Finals. All I see is people crying about the Knicks season as if it is do or die for the Knicks. As if their championship window is closing and they need to win. Don't people understand what rebuilding is? I've said it time and time again. We didn't rebuild under Isiah. Not at any point. We are rebuilding now. It may be hard to be patient but accept the fact the Knicks will first get worse before they get better. We must work our way from the ashes of the Isiah regime. That doesn't happen overnight, not with nearly the same roster around.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

It's not the same roster

PG=Duhon.....acquired by coach
G=Q-Rich (wash) coach's fav(history in Phx) although inherited by Isiah
SF=Chandler (never played much under Isiah more of the work of our coach)
PF=Harrington....acquired by our GM
C=Lee acquired by Isiah

PG=Nate acquired by Isiah although supposedly the Suns were prepared to draft and keep Nate while Pringles was coach of the Suns
G=Blank or you could insert CHUCKERSUCK...signed by our GM
SF=Tim Thomas....acquired by our GM
PF=Gallinari....drafted by our coach
C=Effries acquired by Isiah

So between the GM/coach the current roster outnumbers Isiah's acquisitions and the record post trades is 7-16 or 6-16 if you actually count the games the traded players, played in. Now look at the rotation and who receives PT between the acquisitions? Duhon, Al, Thomas, (split Q's in half because he's just as much of a coach acquisition) with Chandler, Lee, Nate, and Effries you'll find the minutes are close to even. It's about a 17min difference mainly looking Nate's minutes. If you start factoring in the changing of roles then more accountability falls on the coach(e.g. turning Lee and Effries into centers).

The players we have might outnumber Isiahs players, by how you say it, but the losses are STILL a result of Isiah. We probably couldn't get any better for Crawford, than a guy like Harrington, who Walsh traded twice, and Thomas was a pure cap move. Not a player for the system move. And Q was traded after 1 season b/c of his back and contract. You haven't got any clue if he's a D'Antoni favorite. If he is, then lets see him get a contract extension when he expires.

We are rebuilding and this is NOT the season to judge Waltoni's work b/c we all knew the results would not be shown on the court. I don't think Red Holzman could coach this team.

You are overreaching severely. Too tired to get into details but clearly some of this stuff is just to back up your point. The core of the team still reeks of Isiah's no-defense, lazy attitude, low basketball IQ scrubs.

"Walsh said..."

So if Walsh traded Zach back to Portland for Raef Lafrentz and said "this is for 2010 and to improve our team", you would believe him, right? Because obviously he's not putting up a front. He thinks Raef can be a great piece for them, just like Tim Thomas is. Donnie Walsh is not going to come out and say "I made this trade for 2010. We suck now. It's over. Come back in 2010. Don't watch us until then." He is GM and a businessman. He is smarter than that.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
