King1 - I'm a huge Knicks fan. If Mike D'Antoni is the coach and after 28 games he is putting forth what can be described as an honest effort to make the squad into a team - then yes, I'm a huge fan of his too.

What you conveniently overlook is the fact that Nate has improved every year. He has learned from his mistakes and continued to make steady progress as a NBA ballplayer. I like that. To the extent that he will conform to what Mike D'Antoni wants in the long term is anyones guess.

Certainly, wearing his emotions on the outside will always irritate those who prefer their favorite players to be humble and quiet, but the passion and beauty of The Toy is also in the eyes of the beholder. As long as he leaves it all on the floor, which he ALWAYS does, I got no beef with Nate.

You clearly understand my angle, which is as old school as the chalk writing on the playground asphalt, "you win as a team and you lose as a team". I proposed the "Lee is a horrible" thread so that you would come running to his defense. It seems to have worked.

I despise pointing a finger and ostracizing and one player, unless of course his name is Quentin Richardson.

My kingdom for a starting center.

I can live with that Misterearl I just think in MDA offense you arent going to see a center you run the offense through. We have to get players who shoot a hig percentage and has a high IQ which on this team i dont think we have too many.

This thread is effin' hilarious. Nate goes through a struggling stretch, and we're ready to trade him. However, when Kobe was singing his praises, we were ready to resign him to a multi year deal.

I hate to keep on bringing back the Camby quote, but: "NY fans are fickle."

Nate is a terrific sixth man. He really is. He's just never going to be more than that and he's being asked to be *the* guy. How's a Kobe versus Nate matchup going to go? I don't think any of this should really be put on the guy because he's being put into a position to fail, as opposed to succeed.

We are emotional and our opinions on players depends on whether we won the last game or not. I love Nate, he's #1 on my current Knicks list. Can't deny that he makes idiotic decisions on a regular basis and can't deny that he struggles at the finer points of the game. But as Earl said, I can't dislike a guy that leaves it on the floor like he does. As he grows older he will get a grasp of his emotions or he won't. But he appears to be working at it. I have no doubt that he could find his way into the rotation of every team in this league. Unfortunately he can't do the things that we need him to do. For that, apparently he sucks.

We need Nate to be the awesome 6th man he is, for 25 minutes a game. Not to be an all star starter. Right now, he's our most talented scorer, and when that happens, he becomes the go to guy. Because of that, we're relying on him to be Tony Parker (Even though we have Duhon) and Ray Allen in one. When this happens, 23 win seasons occur. That's not anybody's fault except maybe Isiah. This is rebuilding.

When we were 3 games above .500, Nate was playing like the 6th man of the year, b/c the game was coming to him, his teammates were pumped and hustling around him for the new coach, and there was no pressure on him. That's how it should be for him.

Now we're expecting him to be Tony Parker and Ray Allen, when he's really Nate Robinson. Lay off the guy. He's making bad decisions, but our losing is not his fault.

Anybody on here think of realizing we're a bad team?

Almost all our guys can play. Most of these guys could be beneficial to some team somewhere. Many would be helpful on championship teams as well. Heck, even Jared Jeffries was a good player on a playoff team. It's all about the role that they are playing on their current team. All role players look bad when they are asked to do things they can't. They magically become clutch players when placed into situations that they are comfortable with. Individually I don't think these guys "suck". I think the team sucks and the lack of leadership has stunted their growth. They can't learn if they aren't surrounded by guys that already know how to win.

King1 - I'm all for players who share the pill - centers included. In the immortal words of The Greatest (Muhammad Ali) I have a strange feeling that Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni will "shock the world!" and the wanna-be pundits who expect a carbon copy of the Phoenix model.

The new Knicks will play different.

By early February, when the round mound of single-digit rebounds returns - expect Mike D'Antoni to squeeze as much production out of Eddy Curry as the season he went for 19 and 7. In the long term, the offense will not run through a traditional low post big man, but the next Knicks man-to-man-up-in-the-middle will be a part of a high energy unit that will be able to exploit the paint - as well as the perimeter.

I have a feeling there is a Knicks scout holding a good seat for Cole Aldrich's next game at Kansas.

I want a team of smart guys as much as the next guy but that type of team is not built in one season. Expect a three year process. At least. Once our REAL GM Donnie Walsh acquires proper ingredients of complimentary talent, the intellectual bonding process that creates "high IQ", in my opinion, will start like this:

Trust is initiated with repetition and familiarity. Confronting game situations as a unit builds trust. High basketball IQ (collectively) is a by-product of experience under a myriad of game situations. (I only care about the team IQ)

These guys are still getting to know each other.

I guess I am a big proponent of shoot the ball if you can make it. If you arent making it dont shoot it. Nate was 5-17 last night and Wilson 6-19. If you arent making shots give it to the players that are. We are shooting 43% from the field a game which is atrocious. If you shot 30% from the three dont shoot the three. We need to find players that can make shots which has been our problems the last three years.

Nate was shooting 47% before this stretch. Yes, he's been making bad decisions recently, but the whole team in general has been playing bad. He needs to get back to being 6th/7th man.

I agree, but I can guarantee that if you balance the team you will see our shooting percentages go up.

due to my role in the public school system in my area, I will refrain from posting on the Alba thread. I think the stuff I say is bad enough.

I'm sorry Bip. Congratulations on 9,359 posts. I'm sure if everyone takes time to look through all of them, we'll find a good post or two somewhere. It will take a lot of hard work though, but I have faith in that Bip.
