This is the best thing that could ever happen. All three of these players will be trade bait next year for younger guys or salary dumps. Getting rid of Zach is the best thing that could happen to the Knicks

it might be the best thing that could happen to dlee's rebounding numbers... and his contract demands...

Well, I'm hoping this deal is a prelude to DLee + Curry for Marion

um. there's zero chance of that happening. the numbers there do not remotely work and miami wants cap space for 2010 as well so they can pair wade and beasley with a third star.

also, why don't people remember: MARION requested to be traded away from D'Antoni!!! he does not like him!

Didn't like D'Antoni, or the fact that the Suns management wouldn't give him lots of $$?

that would be a GREAT trade. Mobley is better than Crawford. He actually defends. Yes he's older.. so what. Thomas/Harrington/Chandler are all a bit redundant but can also all slide between the 2/3/4 in MDA's offense. Plus you clear massive space for 2010 while still fielding a team talented enough to win games.

he complained about playing out of position for years. and didn't he make a similar comment to joe johnson about wanting to be the star on his own team instead of being unappreciated in phoenix? it was probably all code for "pay me more money, extend my deal," but he did make comments about D'Antoni. i think it got icy at the end there. and it's not like we'd be planning to extend Marion either, so i don't think he'd be thrilled to come here.

it's a fine trade for 2010 but if you think Mobley is better than Crawford i don't think you've seen mobley play for about five years.

If the goal is to clear space for 2010 and get rid of a player with a huge contract they did exactly what they wanted to do.

if this 3 way thing goes down.. and somehow we can trade Curry... could we possibly sign TWO free agents in 2010?

yes. as a matter of fact, if this trade goes down, we can STILL get two max players without trading curry. great deal.

Exactly. We're not doing this to acquire the players coming back - except for maybe Harrington - we're doing this to shovel 27M of crap off our 2011 books!

And I must say, if David Lee can grease this trade? I think we have to strongly consider using him to make it happen. We don't want to pay him anyway and we're really seeing his limitations. I like the kid but we must face facts: If Lee is the only real asset being used to get rid of Isiah's disastrous mistakes? Hey, we got to consider it a good deal.

yeah, but the idea that alpha dogs like Bosh and Wade or Bosh and Bron would want to be on the same team is kinda nuts. i guess we could get some secondary guys to compliment a Bron type. we'll have the next two years to play with the combos.

i'm not opposed to this trade, i just wish it coulda happened at the trade deadline this year instead of at the beginning of a season when we still have 150 games before we can even think about the benefits of this trade.

That's what the news media seems to think the case is. Could you imagine Wade AND James? Pipe dream, I'm sure, but then again to be a part of a MSG dynasty? That might help LBJ become the global icon he wants to... but I wouldn't bank on it.

Which brings me back to this trade. Prospects/picks have to be included. I'd be happy if Jordan and Wright came back.

Mobley can still play, and he actually defends out there some. He gets his hands on passes, he gets some steals and he still drill that jumper. The contract status is perfect also. You dont have to deal with the ??? of Crawford opting out and totally clears your cap space for 2010.

weren't you arguing against the cap space approach? i mean, i'm fine with it. there's just no one left on the team i care about and the idea of trading for tim thomas again makes me sick.
